Think of Toukiden as a Faster Monster Hunter with some combinations of Dynasty Warriors and Soul Sacrifice.

It wasn't bad for me. Start with one piece and match everything that contains that piece before moving onto the next piece.

Eh. It will click at some point and become very easy very quickly.

No way. I keep trying the first mission 3 page one and get to the 3rd page by like 30 seconds left and get down to 2 with 5 seconds left on the clock and failing every fucking time.

Famitsu just doesn't understand your genius.

I liked Knack. Obviously had a lot of shortcomings, though. The special attack system wasn't very well designed, and the limiting Knack to a single basic attack (as opposed to two or three that combo for different moves) wasn't that great of a design decision, either, as combat became boring quickly. The environments sure were nice, though.

Whether it's better than SS will depend on how much you like MonHun and how much you want to play a game that's pretty much exactly like that fundamentally. Objectively though it's definitely a better game than Ragnarok.
