Sakurai only Retweeted prior to the Sonic and Rosalina reveals, though. He didn't say anything about Luigi beforehand. Would he really hype us up for a Diddy Kong reveal?

Really hoping for something tomorrow, but usually, it's just a filler the night before a direct. Before the Rosalina reveal (I believe), we got Fox aiming his blaster at Peach's Toad with a caption referencing the direct later that day. But who knows? Sakurai is unpredictable when it comes to these things.
My filler prediction: Some random characters looking at the TV in the Nintendogs stage. Maybe some more Mario/Link/Marth x Peach stuff in honor of Valentines Day.
My Direct prediction: Diddy, Dixie, tag team Dixie and Diddy, or the first two as separate characters. Or if Sakurai decides to be random, a Love Tester debuts in Smash.

What if we get Diddy as our pic of the day tonight and then a brand new character for the Direct? Maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but... I don't really have any interest in any potential DK newcomers, haha.
I'm 100% confident we're getting at least some kind of Newcomer, though. I figure absolute worst case scenario is we get Diddy/Dixie as a tag-team newcomer/veteran thing.

I'm 99% sure we'll get something Smash related on tomorrow Direct, because why not - plus we're about due some more substantial information I'd say, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. I'd like to see a release date for MK8 but we've hardly even seen enough of that game to be honest, so I'm sure there must be a while until we get any juicy Smash stuff. I'm still expecting a Smash release in fall at the earliest. If it was before that I'd be surprised.
I also really really want Dixie in the game, but I don't think she'll be bundled with Diddy personally, and she'll probably be a secret character if she does appear, so I doubt we'll be seeing her tomorrow either.
Maybe I'm just a negative Nancy, but I'd like to be pleasantly surprised since the wait for Smash is always agonising for me.

The last two times Sakurai retweeted Nintendo Direct news, we got Sonic & Rosalina (a popular third-party character & a newcomer).
If we get Diddy tomorrow, it'll be before the Direct.

The gun-totting, genetically-altered raccoon is Rocket Raccoon. The sentient tree-like alien is Groot (who can only say "I am Groot"). The two are pretty much best friends.
They're from Guardians of the Galaxy, one of my favorite comics back in Vol. 2 (by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning), & they're getting a movie August 1 that's set in the same movie universe as the Avengers (hence the gif).
In fact, my avatar is of Star-Lord (Peter Quill), the leader of the Guardians.

Might not even get Diddy Kong at all this week and instead he'll be shown off closer to the NA/EU release of Tropical Freeze.
I can get on board with that. Any look at some of these characters in motion would be great.
I guess we'll find out in a couple of hours. Tomorrow'll be a fun day.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know Rocket Raccoon is a thing. Googled it up just now and it seems really cool.
Happy to be of service. Rocket Raccoon is actually in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 & is a blast to play, plus his Log Trap assist is very useful (it helps Phoenix Wright buy time to collect evidence & set up combos for Nova, among other things).
Now, back to the Smash Hype.
