They're doing what I was saying before, taking the tempo and multiplying it. It's easier than people think, but unfortunately they tend to just stay with the bass drum.

That's so stupid, though. How does the impression that most white people can't dance actually harm you? Say you actually can dance... Then that makes you an exceptional dancer - you stand out. And if you can't? Then you're just like the rest, no big deal. It doesn't make any sense getting upset about.

I know what you mean when you say that, but you make it sound much worse.

Well, I only say it like that because I can dance and I'm a dick towards those who can't. Frankly, I'm pretty sure they're just lazy and they want me to hand out dance welfare all day. I can't afford to be giving that shit away for free. Something's gotta give.

That whole thing can be said about a lot of stereotypes of any race...

A lot of people only ever even attempt to dance at weddings.

True, and this is the same for any culture or any race, and there's always awkwardness unless you've been dancing and know to how to shake it. Nothing bad or shameful about it though.

That's about the dumbest thing I've seen in a while. And I'm not talking about the pic. Can you please remove my name from that ridiculous quote before someone thinks I said it? EDIT: thanks

I have no problems with the usual goofy and awkward white dance moves as it's usually funny & entertaining but nothing is worse than white people who THINK they can dance but really can't.

They always have that, "aaaawh yeeaaaah" face on but it's really like "No. Please stop you don't look how you think you look right now."

I can't dance for shit and I know it but still pull that "aawh yeeaah" face because I'm having a good time and couldn't care less that there is a self-pronounced jury watching.

did you just compare "white people can't dance" to "black people are violent and stupid" with a straight face?
Admittedly they are of completely different magnitude. I personally don't subscribe to either, but it was just an example.

Which one? ;)
Hey, I'm not the one defending a racist stereotype.

It's just not about to get bent out of shape over some bullshit. How has this stereotype ever effected you? Personally, I've been able to take advantage of it because it has set a low bar for dancing ability. But it hasn't hindered me from getting a job or anything else I can think of.

No bald cap? Lies!
Lots of people just need to slow it down a bit. They know the right moves, but their rhythm sucks and they just end up moving way too fast and look like a spazz. It's all about the flow and transitions, not the speed.

The same could be said true of many stereotypes. Your example was just terrible, saying a bad stereotype is good because if it ain't true in your case then you're seen in a more positive light it's just the kind of bullshit i'd expect a 1% to say about poor peoples that don't work as hard or some shit.

I don't think there is a real difference except for there being more dancing culture wise in some countries. The actual thought white people not being able to dance is ridiculous.

Having said that, i can't dance for shiot and i don't like to dance. I think most dances look absolutely ridiculous. Especially when men perform them.
On an athletic level, i can apreciate it. But come on people, it's just a mating ritual. We're weird monkies.

I avoided this thread because knew only fudd could result, but that has to be the worst analogy I've ever seen.

People assume you can't dance so they: stop and frisk you, assume you're dangerous, look for excuses to pull you over, are skeptical when you're driving a luxury vehicle, make you prove your credentials whenever you walk into a professional building, shoot you for playing loud music, follow you around stores, have police officers become more likely to use physical force, find it harder to associate positive terms with you when only presented with a face and nothing else, and finally, apply disproportionate sentences against you for the same violation as those who are assumed to be good dancers?

It doesnt hurt anybody I suppose. But who does it really hurt to say that black people like chicken and watermelon? Neither one actually hurts anybody. Neither one is comparable to a statement such as "black people commit violent crimes because it is in their nature" or something similar to that. That doesn't mean they aren't both ignorant stereotypes from ignorant people.

All I see is Blatant omission of Hispanic dancing to avoid having to face the truths that white people have the most complex, and most aesthetically pleasing dances.

White people being goofy dancers is about as harmful a stereotype as Asians being good at maths. Last night on Jeopardy there was a question about the UNCF, and Trebek says to the black kid "you'd better get this one". It's presumptuous, but I don't think there's malice there so I dunno.

She's got a couple of nice moves there

What? Everyone else on GAF is allowed to get upset when people make fun of their race/orientation/gender/whatever else. Do white people not get to or something? My mistake then.

As Louis C.K. covered, one cannot hurt a white male's feelings in such a way. So making a fuss about it seems like bending over backwards.
