New 'X' trailer [Monolithsoft] shows uncut gameplay

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
I think HUGE SUCCEEDED is the most beautiful engrish nonsense I've ever seen in a game. I know what my next RPG character's name is gonna be.

Sigh.... Is this all Japan has to offer these days. Not saying the game doesn't look good but some points get knocked off for being another hack and slash kind of Monster Hunter Xenoblade type game. I was hoping for something a bit more different but it is what it is.

However, I'm definitely going to pick it up and play the hell out of it. Hopefully by the time it comes to America, they have removed all that annoying talking and grunting in the background. I don't understand why they always have to have that in these type of games. It's really unnecessary.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this board actually play games...

I'm gonna say this was NOT the best way to show the game to non-fans, it wasn't the best thing to watch from a visual stand-point, but god-damn, playing it must feel amazing.

Since when was X shown to have a battle system like Xenoblade? Of course I knew it was a sequel to Xenoblade but I had hoped that they would change the battle system considerably.

Unfortunately they haven't.

Did you completely forget the first trailer of the game?

The trailer showed combat and it looked exactly like Xenoblade, but improved.

This thread makes it really obvious how many people haven't played Xenoblade. Granted the game's high prices are a detractor but it's still funny seeing the "UI looks bad" and "combat looks boring" and whatever comments.

From the very first trailer you could see it was based on Xenoblade but obviously going to be more improved. Which isn't a bad thing as Xenoblade was popular among critics and fans, so more of the same but better isn't a bad thing unless you hated Xenoblade.

Xenoblade had a good battle system I thought. Not amazing but pretty solid. I agree they could spruce up the UI though but it's not a huge deal (at least to me; didn't really detract from the game in Xenoblade).

You lost me right there. Clearly you don't have any idea of what you are talking about.

Xenoblade Chronicles had great combat and this just looks like an extention of that game with some mechs thrown in, I'm very pleased with this.

...what? Which is it- MH or Xenoblade? It can't be both as the two don't even play remotely alike. I think Xenoblade is pretty overrated but love MH.

Not really feeling the footage, but I'm also not sure why anyone hyped before would be let down now. It looks exactly how I thought a successor to Xenoblade would look.

Well, I was hyped before and figured since they showed combat and field-traversing already in all of its previous trailers, we'd actually see the other aspects of the game like insane narrative akin to gears/saga, crazy towns, locals, empires to visit, etc. Honestly now, I'm not so sure it has any of that other stuff.

So now this game is a hack and slash....
What the actual fuck.

Still worried about the party names (player 1, 2, 3, 4) please don't make it online only.

Early screens of Xenoblade said the same thing. And enemies were just called "Target"

OK, so you haven't played Xenoblade. This is a JRPG, Monster Hunter is not. Monster Hunter is an action game. Xenoblade was nothing like MH, it's not a hack and slash game, and neither will this game be.

You shouldn't expect them to tone down the talking; Xenoblade had a lot of talking in battle too.

I want to see more of the mech gameplay - I wasn't gelling with what I saw. Everything else certainly is an extension of Xenoblade's combat which I'm comfortable with -

I never got to play Xenoblade - but heard mixed reports. This looks awesome. Can you purchase Xenoblade on the wiiU eshop in Australia?

No Wii games on eShop unfortunately :( It's well worth tracking down if you're a fan of JRPGs, though.

Also, some observations:
Pretty sure that large monster that took ages to kill is a unique; normal fights shouldn't take anywhere near as long. My limited Hiragana knowledge tells me it's named Bruno (I don't know Kanji so I can't give you its title).
There are only two types of mech used, going by the status text; the player character and the female party member use the same mech, while the other two party members use the 'Inferno' (the one at the beginning of the second teaser trailer). If we assume 'Inferno' is the name of a unique mech, then either the second one is a placeholder, or controlled by another player in co-op.
The mechs have a 'heat' mechanic (probably how the game stops you just staying in the mech for the whole fight?), and an on-foot skill refers to 'aura level'.

I loved Xenoblade, and I'm pretty hyped for this game. The game UI doesn't look that great, but it seems an improvement over Xenoblade, at least.

...Can we stop with this "overrated" nonsense? It's a godawful term that incites nothing but incendiary discussion. :/

It's a fine term. You don't need to be so sensitive. It's a perfectly acceptable opinion.

If people can't handle someone saying that without being "incendiary" then they should stop posting here.

Yeah, I'm not sure what people were expecting with the battle system. It seems to play like an expanded version of Xenoblade's system, which is fucking awesome.

The fact that you can switch weapons on the fly and hop in and out of a huge mech seamlessly during a battle is pretty great.

The whole point was to illustrate how one could have wildly different feelings about Xenoblade and MH, further supporting the idea that the two are not alike. I think Xenoblade is a mediocre to bad game- is that any better? It's still implicitly says that I think the game is worse than it's given credit for.

So no one besides Oni and I are interested in the fact that you come from the freaking United States and invade this planet?

This is nothing like Monster Hunter and its a Xenoblade sequel/spiritual successor.

Just curious: Do you also think that the game won't have a name? :p

Nintendo announced X way too early. Despite the fact that we've seen the game for the first time more than a year ago, they still haven't properly unvealed the game yet. I'm not sure how much longer they'll ask for our patience in that regard, but I wouldn't be surprised if they keep us waiting until E3.

Annoying, really.

I am not convinced it actually says United States as you only see a few letters and a few letters make up many words and many names and organizations have used the word United.

What do you mean? I watched it without sound.

The ship in the background (the city thing you see in the second trailer) says "United States" on it. I posted a picture a couple pages back.

United St____ what, then?
Stars?
Stripes?
Strippers?

Looks like Xenoblade, which is what I expected. I'm intrigued by what new mechanics have been shown.

I really wanted an actual trailer, though. I wanted to soak in the music and some story tidbits.

You can disable lot of UI text and icons in Xenoblade, I think X is a huge improvement, I'm sure you can disable no so usefull info in X.

Does it look like there are more (any) options to direct party members? That was one of the two major problems I had with Xenoblade's combat system because without it, the fighting devolved into waiting for timers.

Still worried about the party names (player 1, 2, 3, 4) please don't make it online only.

The other characters in that video were not other players. If they were, they are the most coordinated players I've ever seen who can follow the main guy and stop at exactly the right time in formation. :p

And as someone else said, the initial Xenoblade trailers did the same thing. I think they are just not ready to show off the character names yet.

Ugly as sin. And man that looks boring. Stand still, hit, hit, hit, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot.

I want to see some of the adventure stuff. The world. The cool shit.

Considering Takahashi's games at least in the Xeno series often had starships from space is it not possible a ship had crash landed there and that is a remnant of that ship's name?

I don't understand, the game looks amazing and you should look closer at the games Japan makes, they are still making amazing games all the time but the casual/mainsteeam ignores them.

I hope it has dual audio loke Xenoblade.

"TED STA" means nothing

TED could be the end of anything, like "Restricted" or "Blasted" etc.
STA could be "Station" or a variety of other things that would make more sense than United States
