Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

So it seems we've got Little Mac's specials figured out as well:

  • B: Super Armor (prevent flinching from attacks, charge KO gauge)
  • Side B: Flaming Jab (fiery dash attack that sends Mac straight across the arena)
  • Down B: Counter (dodge enemy attack and counter strike)
  • Up B: Tornado Uppercut (spins around while rising straight up into the air)
  • Final Smash: Giga Mac (transforms into a larger, more brutish version of himself)

My analysis from the other thread:

Trying to figure him out.

Air side-B: hops forward with invincibility before punching downwards. Looks like Captain Falcon side-B. I believe when shown against Mega Man the player does a jump before immediately triggering the air side-B, due to:

perhaps ground side-B?: dashes forward with invincibility and does an uppercut (shown performed on Link).

neutral-B?: Charges a strong punch. Absorbs all attacks and takes no damage. The hits he takes charges the power meter. Unleashing the move presumably exhausts this meter. Not sure if you can store it. Not sure about enders. He is shown doing a straight punch after this, as well as an uppercut. Also, the power meter might charge just by holding it longer. Perhaps the power of the charge determines the ender as well. I'm also not sure if this is shown being done on Bowser earlier in the trailer.

up-B: spinning jumping uppercut.

down-B: counter. Takes a stance, returns an uppercut.

jab combo: has some kind of rapid jab combo. Perhaps done by mashing A. Seems to have enders, however. Either letting up on the mashing causes an ender, or perhaps you can choose what attack to end it with.

1-2 punch: perhaps a two-part forward-tilt, or a more slowly executed jab combo. I'm leaning towards ftilt. It makes different noises than the first two hits of the jab combo.

dash attack: he runs low and fast (ducks under two Mario fireballs). Dash attack is a downward arcing hook.

forward-air: does an upward arcing hook with a slow startup. Probably powerful given the startup.

Problems: I have no idea about his smash attacks. Some of the stuff I'm describing in here could very well be smash attacks.

There are some discrepancies and oddities that I've pointed out. Will be interesting to see how things play out (such as potential different enders for different attacks, and what is and is not a smash attack).

List of DO NOT WANTS

Waluigi
Pac Man
Sonic's other shitty friends
Birdo
Ghriahim
etc.

Indifferent
Ridley
etc.

Bring in Saki Amamiya or his kid, W101, Snake, Bayonetta AT, Zone of the Enders, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem.

#TeamFake but I do want Palutena in the game.

Now that the rumored six seems legit, anyone think we can expect Pac-Man at E3? I imagine Mii may come at the same time.

Little Mac looks dope as fuck btw.

Alright I'm going to post what I'm seeing from the trailer.

1. Do Little Mac's speed look fast as if it's melee speed? It seem so fast for me when I watched the trailer.

2. I think he might have combo mechanism which would allow him to make few different moves from one special attack I noticed that he have two running attack so I wonder if he can use running + Side B or so.

3. I like how they are going to reuse Punch Out Wii U stage for 3DS stage since he don't have any game on handheld if I remembered correctly.

4. Look like you have to hold CHARGE for Instant KO, instead of building up bar. I would rather to building up the bar over charging for instant ko.

5.I'm hyped, and I can't stop watching trailer for like 8th time.

Also can anyone make me Icon of Little Mac for OP pretty please?

Is there any chance you could get the new icons of Mega Man's Gear and Little Mac's Punching glove off the site and add it to the background of icons back there?

I'm waiting for the final update to do that since it would be really time consuming to make another pattern for each update. But don't worry, that will be coming!

I hope Mii gets revealed at E3 along with other, more exciting characters because waiting a few months for a new newcomer and seeing it show up would be a buzzkill.

I was trying to figure out who Little Mac reminded me of from other fighters, and the closest I can think of is a mix of classic fighting game boxers (Balrog and Dudley from Street Fighter) along with Nova from UMvC3 thanks to those rushdowns.

I dunno, Mii is near the top of my most-wanted list. As long as they don't try to stuff customizable movesets in there... I think there's a TON of potential for unique Mii stuff and considering how ubiquitous they are in modern Nintendo games and consoles it seems like a huge oversight to leave them out.

Pac-Man I'm ambivalent on. On one hand he's SUCH an icon and would really fit in perfectly with the rest of the cast, but on the other, as much as I hate to hop on that bandwagon, I don't see much they could do with him that's interesting. But I figure he'll make it in either way so, y'know, I can roll with it.

If Nintendo actually brings themselves back into the fray with a proper E3 Presser I can see them doing a "big" Smash Bros trailer to hype up its Holiday release. Everything has been increments so far, it's going to have to go big soon.

I'm still not entirely sold on the original leak yet though. With the exception of Wii Fit Trainer on that list a lot of them kind of felt like educated or obvious guesses, if only because it's the few most recognizable characters from franchises that Nintendo hasn't represented yet, including an obvious Namco rep.

Mannnn, I hope this plays like Melee and not Brawl, otherwise, I'll just wait for Project U or whatever the fan-made improvement is called.

So at this point all brawl 4 leaks are confirmed fake minus the e3 one correct? With 4/6 correct I'm going to make a wild assumption that Pac Man will be E3's "big reveal" and Mii will be revealed sometime in the fall if they're not an unlockable character.

Yes all of this. Though I wouldn't mind Pac-Man..but Namco was way more interesting IPs. If I could choose one of their characters..Mr. Driller would be pretty sweet. But god..Ghriahim..what a terrible character.

How's that?

Naw, Mii is starter character since they have two stages ready; Pilotwing and Find Mii stages. We should see the trailers before the game went gold.

Awesome, Thanks!

Wii Fit Trainer just seemed so out there though. You'd have laughed at anyone guessing that before E3 2013.

I could see Mii being an unlockable but an early one, if not the first. Basically to make people have to choose another character before settling down and playing as "themselves". It was the kind of tactic they used in Mario Kart.

What if Mii is like Mokujin from Tekken?
Rather Miis reflect the games they've starred in. They have a lot of potential moves from a lot of games. From the Wii X games to the Streetpass Plaza games.

Villager was a crazy guess, too. Sakurai had directly stated in the Brawl Iwata Asks that an Animal Crossing character would not work, and even if they went and guessed that Sakurai would go back on this statement, they would need to guess

A) That he would choose the generic protagonist over someone like Tom Nook,
and, perhaps more telling
B) that he would be called "Villager" at all, a name that the character had never used before Smash. Most prediction rosters I was aware of called the character "Animal Crosser", after all.

That leak was always confirmed in my eyes. Although it's not like Pac-Man, Mac, or Mii weren't effectively shoo-ins anyway...

They just made a guy who does nothing but punch and dodge look like a complete beast.

I dunno what they'd do with Pac-Man either, but at this point I have zero doubt that they could make him look like the most fascinating character in the game.

If Namco Bandai wasn't helping to make this game I don't think anyone would consider Pac Man

Well at least Nintendo got the super meter concept down. I was hoping that would show up in some shape or form.

I hope that the meter builds slowly or that it entirely depends on your combo.
A guaranteed OHKO at 0% seems to be over doing it. Imagine playing Team Battle and some dude grabs your opponent, you literally get a free kill from Mac.

Balancing Ideas:
-Meter decreases with each time you're hit
-When you KO meter resets
-Meter gradually decreases and only increases as you combo.
-Suggestions.

Mac's pretty cool in that he's basically Street Fighter Dudley with a Titan transformation.

His recovery seems horrible at first but that's only if his side-B leaves him helpless in the air.

Mac has quirks but he's definitely not an edge type character. I see a good ground metagame and a decent air meta game. From the footage, Little Mac can probably be countered by aerial characters like Jigglypuff and Pit. Marth, assuming that he's still top tier, would also seem like a soft counter against Mac.

Is there a reason people are assuming Mii's will be in?
They are one of the biggest videogame characters of the previous generation, not just on Nintendo systems, but all systems. I mean how many characters had an advert just dedicated to them let alone their games. They are also pretty much the face of the Wii U. It would be surprising if they didn't make it in.
