Top right. You see the red and white stripes.
Top right corner you can see what looks like the stripes of the US flag. This is next to the text in other shots which looks to be United States.
It's just the red and white stripes of the flag, to the upper right of the top right corner of the main hitpoint box (the one at the top of the screen). Plus there's the structure with part of "United States" visible on it in the other screen grab. So I guess, planetary exploration? Resources dwindling down maybe (that countdown timer in the previous video)?
Like so?

See it now?
Gotta get in on the Last Remnant love. Amazingly fun battle system and that soundtrack is godlike. Ignore what you heard of the 360 release people. Get the PC port if your PC can handle it, much much much improved.
It seems as though a lot of people decided to get excited about this game without knowing what type of game it was or bothering to try and find out.
This is a pretty good example of how unreactive the monsters are. For an apparently real time system, the bad guys sure do stand in place a lot and barely shown aggression towards the player character(s).
That's because it looks very MMO'ish in that there is a tank (who maintains the monsters attention) while the rest of the group deals out the dmg and heals. I haven't seen any healing yet though.
Maybe this has been answered, but has any details on single/multi player balance been released? If the battle system from Xenoblade is improved on that's good enough on its own but I'm more interested in the surrounding systems and mechanics.
Functionally, yeah, I think they are fine. I'm playing through XIII-2 right now and it hasn't caused me any trouble. It's just things like that stupid tech-lookin' thing in the bottom left that wraps a big art asset around an big indicator for something that's already denoted by the name of your paradigm, which is already shown on the screen. (Beside an L1 button in case you forget which one to press!)I disagree, and honestly, of all the complaints about those games, I've never heard one about the interface until now. The reason being, in older Final Fantasy titles the menus used to take up 1/3rd the screen space, but now they are just hovering there. I never had a problem with the UI in those games; never thought about it and they never got in the way. On the other hand, those are fully turn-based battle systems, excluding Lightning Returns. You don't really need that much screen space. With Xenoblade, you need a little more because you are interacting with the landscape as well as fighting.
Just to clarify this game is going to be a true JRPG with a story, cutscenes, bosses, etc. right?
That's kind of funny, because I find XV's UI to be kind of lackluster, like it has a mockup feel to it. I would be alright if that is in the final game, but it seems it would be hard to read on smaller displays or sitting further away. I like the translucent nature, but I think it could actually benefit by being a bit bigger.Of course, XV is still a work in progress and the combat is different (mainly, non-ATB-based), but I find the aesthetic choices made in its UI to be pretty smart:
It acknowledges that the main draw of combat is the actual combat. The UI elements are, for the most part, translucent. They have a distinct presence, but they aren't covering up anything.
X's UI certainly isn't an egregious offender by any means, but it would be for the better if they shrunk down some parts of it and moved things into the corners. Interface components don't necessarily have to be big flashing neon lights to effectively convey information.
Just to clarify this game is going to be a true JRPG with a story, cutscenes, bosses, etc. right? Because the footage shown today makes it look like another Monster Hunter clone.

But anyway, I agree with people about X's UI for the most part. Actually, the UI is fine, it's more the other icons that pop up. For instance, in the middle of the video, there's this weird graphic that pops up for a certain attack and covers up the main character, and that's on top of all the other shit on the screen. I think that shit does need to be toned down a bit.

Yep. Definitely. No worries there.

Aesthetically, it's busier than it needs to be, IMO. I'm willing to accept that, to a degree, it's a matter of preference though, and that I'm predisposed to finding XIII's UI ugly since I prefer an aesthetically minimal UI.

Why are people so confident about this? I haven't seen or read anything aside from the snippets of footage we've been shown in the various directs so far, but in every one of them I've been seeing what is clearly 3 other players and haven't seen story or anything that would suggest it isn't a multiplayer game. Have they confirmed it's got a single-player story and everything somewhere else? Or is it just a case of "it looks like Xenoblade therefore must have a story because Xenoblade did?"
X looked "good" but not amazing, It sucks it's on the WII-U, it hurts it no doubt.
No more than any game made for any system was ever "hurt" by being on that hardware.
Come on, games on poor selling platform will be hurt by that, no point pretending install base has no effect on sales.

That's I'm seeing.

It's the only rpg coming to a system with no RPGs.It seems as though a lot of people decided to get excited about this game without knowing what type of game it was or bothering to try and find out.
Why would anyone think anything else? These guys make RPGs and have been forever. If you've played any of their games, then you should have an idea of what to expect. Either way, there is no way in hell it's like Monster Hunter. No way, not gonna happen.
I can't comment on the other players since in my opinion the other characters were AI controlled. Still, we're talking about Monolith Soft and these guys are the kings of crazy story driven RPGs.

Compressed bitmaps? Now I've seen everything.Sooo good! No date or name though.

I think people just want confirmation that online multiplayer isn't the focus because that's practically all we've been seeing. How about a cinematic trailer showing characters and story?I mean all the "this looks disappointing" people clearly didn't bother to look up or learn anything about Xenoblade if they're surprised by X's gameplay clip.

The X clip really made me laugh. That's awesome. I remember when JRPGs were grand-scale projects. ;_;

There is no way these aren't player created characters. Just look at them!
