Titanfall Beta now taking applications, the thread of begging and whining

Saw it the second it was posted, missed out. Was 0-100 yesterday, no email this morning, starting out 0-1 today.

Urge to eBay rising.

Yeah, we're in the same boat but don't buy a code pls, people should be ashamed of selling them.

Im really disapointed with how Respawn is handling this beta. Is it so hard to define things like "beta applications open in 3 days at Xpm, we send 1st wave invites the following day at Ypm and probably more every 5h"? They just made a lot of people waste hours pressing f5 because we didnt know how the signup was gonna work and now the everyone's on twitter trying to ninja grab a code.

As insanely pissed about this route as I am, it's probably EA's fault. I'm buying Garden Warfare out of my undying support for Popcap, but I really feel sour about funding EA at the moment.

I feel like a kid getting dragged out of Toys R Us. Really sad, and acting totally idiotic.

I know nobody stated it, I didn't even think there'd be a beta. My point is that having a beta with recipients that are randomly generated makes it unfair. I went the extra mile and dropped $60, then wound up with nothing to show for it. Meanwhile, some dude who just spams the thing with different email addresses can get codes to scalp on eBay, etc. It just doesn't foster loyalty.

Don't get me wrong, I totally realize how ridiculous I'm being. That doesn't change the fact I feel this way though.
I feel exactly the same way.

It's funny, we can see the e-mail spamming happening in this very thread. It's good that some of those people are giving it away, but they're locking the codes within a certain community and most of the people will just discard or sell them.

Generally, I find betas for popular shooters have an intrinsic frustration. I'm a bit of a Halo fan, and got frustrated by the early Reach beta that was a nightmare of codes being given out randomly. For Titanfall, I'm staying cool about it although having a lot of work on my mind is probably helping me not worry about a code coming through.

It sucks though for people who have taken days off etc. But hey, in March we can all play it and, to be honest, I feel like all the streamed gameplay has given me enough Titanfall until I can play the full game myself. I won't say no to a code in my email inbox though!

Good hunting peeps!

Please don't pay those outrageous eBay prices guys. It's not worth it. The game comes out in less than a month and you've waited this long. Right?

...right?

All gone. Sorry!
Got like 30 messages and only have 3. Gave them to the first three posters here. Winternet, Yaari and B3N1.

Hope to see u all online.

No code in email when I woke up, so my only option now is trying to get a PC code via GAF or Twitter.

Like others have said, the way this beta is being handled is kinda crappy.

Oh damn, does the PC version use that Azure cloud as well because that map is terrible for 2014. "North" Europe server cluster is located in the UK? That would triple my latency immediately compared to ACTUAL North Europe. In fact, that other European server cluster might be 10ms closer. I mean surely they have more server clusters all around the world for actual gaming purposes because having "less than 100ms" as a criteria for gaming purposes would have been fine in the mid 90s.

This is why we need actual dedicated servers you can run or rent and none of this matchmaking & locking you into one service provider crap.

Yep, the PC version also uses the azure server network. It's made by the same people who pulled dedicated servers from Modern Warfare 2, it's almost like they hate PC gamers

And if "less than 100ms" is a bad term for you, this is what the best internet in Australia can get you.

Would kill for less than 100ms

Not advertising. I have nothing to gain, but I've been here with everyone and I'm trying to make people stop doing immoral things for codes.

You are doing advertising by definition.

"the activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services."

they really should have made a system where you have to login to windows live first

some people get 3-5 codes while others get nothing

It's Hearthstone closed beta all over again.

I'd heard that people were creating new bnet accounts and getting 5+ keys when waves got sent out, then ebaying them for $30+. It's gross, and even more gross: people bought them, for Hearthstone and for this.

So will EA learn the lesson of only sending these codes to people with gamertags that have Gold?
They don't even know if the people who sign-up have a Xbox One or even have a gamertag.
You can link your Origin ID to PSN name and Xbox Gamertag. Shouldn't that be sufficient?
It is. But you didn't sign-up with your Origin ID. You could spam randomly generated e-mails without ever having to confirm a single thing.

EA required you to login to your Origin for the PC Beta , if they wanted to do the same or to request you use your XBL email for the X1 they could have. That they didn't would suggest they ain't checking anything with x1

Given they have no way of knowing if applicants even have an Xbox.....

I'm sure MS could lend a hand.

Yes, and this is what I am hoping is prevented if there is a beta in the future for another game.

I entered and KNOW I clicked PC.. But it seems to have sent me an XB1 code instead..Guessing they're unique for each platform and there was a screwup on someone's end?
