The Order 1886 Gameplay Footage

Looks like it'll be a cooridor shooter with too many "cinematic" moments that make you watch rather than play. Graphics didn't impress either. I really wish developers would try telling a story and bringing cinematic gameplay without the need for such restrictive games.

Why do you still have to take cover to then vault over something? It always bothered me in Gears and is really stupid here. I don't understand why Ready at Dawn really only wants to have the public see a linear, corridor section with poor A.I. and Telltale-style 'AIM AT THE THING TO DO THE THING' QTEs

This is really looking like Ryse to me thus far. Good looking game, great voice acting, and gameplay that isn't anything remarkable.

Man, this game really seems to piss certain people off...

Looks great. Amazing visuals and setting. I like third person shooters so whatevs.

Look through the other threads, even yesterdays, so much fanboy crap it makes you sick... I'm not sure why this game is so polorizing to some that are definately not going to buy it or a PS4.....

It's a great looking game, the artwork, aesthetics and and ambiance really pull you in from that short snippit. We'll have to wait and see more gameplay to make a full determination, but man, those graphics.... it just looks amazing!

Also, this is not Gears. Can we stop saying every 3PS that is made is a Gears clone now?

All this fucking waiting and that's what they show?

I'm sure the game is going to be good, and they don't want to spoil too much, but that was the most disappointing gameplay to show.

Please provide some evidence to support this argument, because it sounds rather farcical to me. Sure, there were odd games like Heavy Rain/Beyond where the gameplay itself was secondary to the overall experience, but to suggest it was Sony's focus last gen is pretty fucking hilarious.

But please, go ahead and try to justify your comments.

You have that and what Naughty Dog has done. Sony's first party output is much more focused on the "cinematic experience" than at any time in Sony's publishing history. This is even going further down that rabbit hole. I'm not saying these are bad games so you don't need to infer anything more than what I've stated. The focus of Sony's first party is much more on the cinematic experience than any game system or mastery of said systems. You can like that but I don't.

I am really loosing track of all these threads.

Am I right that we haven't seen new footage since yesterday? Or do these clips show something new somewhere?

I assume we will also be getting a trailer or game play without commentary at some point?

edit: just saw the trailer was posted, excelllllent

Asura's Wrath still king of QTEs.

Anyway....this looks ok. Glad I had my expectations in check. Game sure does look pretty doe

Where was the destruction, the crime scene investigation, the limited exploration? These are all things that are supposedly in the game and yet they showed none of them and think we will be hyped.

Haha, man I have to laugh everytime when I read bs like that. Some people probably just can't understand that games can have good gameplay and good graphics + atmosphere.

The Order 1886 seems to have a couple of those but is missing what I find to be the most important: gameplay.

Gameplay > Graphics + Atmosphere in my world. They aren't on equal footing.

5 minute video preview, has the entire E3 trailer mixed in.

I can't help but feel a bit letdown we got like 30 seconds of new stuff. Come on guys.

Still don't understand why people hate on QTE's :P. I loved them in RE4, Asura Wrath, Ryse and will love them in this.

Graphics look amazing but... Come on.. Is there anything new? I guess when it cost so much to make a AAA game it better appeal to the shooter crowd.

Still interested but a little let down.

Great, another linear corridor third person cover shooter. No thanks.

We've known this for months since GI had a preview. It looks like a Gears clone. What were you expecting?

Edit: My goodness, some of you people are just amazing. We knew it was a shooter. We knew the setting. We knew it was linear. And if you guys didn't know, no competitive MP. I know, BREAKING NEWS, huh? If you don't like shooters, you're not going to like this game.

I could only imagine if I went into Titanfall's beta sayig, "Oh, this is an FPS with mechs? Yuck, no thanks!".

Has potential.

Certainly

Sony only gave 2 minutes of new footage?

I assume, that means the cutscenes too.

Wrap it up, no more gameplay to see here...

I'm not sure what people want from this game. You love the setting, but you don't want them to have guns?

Pray tell. What would The Order: 1886 be in your ideal world, GAF? And it's not allowed to involve hiding behind cover and shooting stuff.

I appreciate them setting up the story, but they never really spoke much about where they were going with the gameplay other than using a bunch of empty words and exploring options with QTEs. Also I would have at least liked to see at least one unique gun in play.

I don't think much or anything is new that wasn't shown in the dailymotion video that was posted early this morning.

They should have waited that they have polished footage. It seems this was more sony wanting to show this game than RaD being ready to show this game. Shame. I would have liked more gameplay footage.

Dismissing all reservations and concerns as fanboy-fuelled crap...a tad ironic, no?

"Concerns" are one thing coming from gamers that have, want or are planning on gettign a PS4 to play the game, but the random drive by comments and fud are embarrassing at times. They need to actually show us gameplay footage to get a better idea of how it plays, by just posting that the game is an ugly Gears clone, QTE fest does not add anythign to the conversation..

The thing is, they showed a 20 minute demo, but only gave 2 minutes to press (of which a lot of is cutscenes)

Not really. I'm not really impressed with the artstyle they came up with and considering that this all is running at 1920x800 30FPS on a PS4 I don't really see much cause for fanfares.

Naturally I realize that there are many people that completely dig this steampunk stuff and I count myself amongst them but something just doesn't align here. I need to see more.

*rolls eyes*

rad should release more than a minute of gameplay.

incredibly underwhelming from a gameplay perspective. Bog standard Gears style cover mechanics & slightly more bearable QTE events. Kind of disappointed since the game looks so good from a visual standpoint.
I have a feeling 'cinematic' is going to become the new buzzword this generation for AAA games that what to push fidelity over gameplay.

No, it doesn't but they're valid opinions nonetheless. Has nothing to do with whatever console it's on.

Still think it looks awesome. I don't need them to reinvent the freakin' genre to have a good time. If they just make a really good 3rd person shooter that looks like that? Count me in.

Looks brilliant Visually but then again that's expected on the PS4. The game plays looks good, seems like you can pace yourself nicely.

It's lame.

Why would I prance around as some dickface old timey Brit with stupid facial hair and stupider clothes chasing lame ass werewolves?

Seriously, who likes werewolves?

I'm down.

Nothing beats space.

I see.

Well clearly tons of people are excited for this setting because its something we have never or hardly seen in gaming. Victorian cyberpunk....that just sounds so awesome.

Still don't understand why people hate on QTE's :P. I loved them in RE4, Asura Wrath, Ryse and will love them in this.

Most games handle them poorly outside of a very select few.

On topic, I'm not expecting a revolution in gameplay with The Order, as long as it has strong mechanics pair with strong storytelling then I'm game.
