Basically a lot of boring characters or ones destined to be clones, as far as I can see (save for maybe Shulk or Cap Rainbow). I do wonder whether Little Mac being quite a generic character from a visual POV (a boxer) is why it's taken this long for him to be in. Might also explain why they've gone with such a stylistic look for the trailer and also the K.O. bar mechanic.
If you literally changed the character in question to Marth and Captain Rainbow to Super Smash Bros. Melee, this comment would be mine in the 2000 - 2002 era.
Are they even taking these character rosters seriously?
Newer, cooler characters please
Sorry, but who is this?
All these characters are crap
Welp, I don't know how to answer that. I really love the series, and I really played shit out of first two games when I was young. Being frankly, chance of Golden Sun getting playable representative is pretty slim to none but I'm still rooting for him to be playable character. I don't really expect Isaac or Golden Sun protagonist to be playable character this time. At least, please make Venus Lighthouse stage happening.
Edited: he have a lot of potential moveset to make himself more versatile or interesting character but I think they are going to put Shulk over Isaac this time.
They could use those Djinns as long range summoning as part of heavy smash.
Normal/Weak attacks would based on sword attacks; Smash attacks would based on djinn; special attacks would based on psynergy. Of course, final smash might be Ragnorak.
I feel like Isaac would've had a chance had the DS Golden Sun done well, and we'd gotten a sequel.
I'm pretty sure it tanked, right? Or atleast I felt it to be extremely grindy and tedious, but then again, the originals also had that problem like that one Dungeon in the second game I always hear about that's super long.
I feel the same way with Sin and Punishment, had Star Successor done well and seen a sequel, I feel Saki or Isa Jo might've made it, but it didn't.
- More offensive magicians. I want the Smash version of a Black Mage and a Red Mage. The former should be very over the top with tons of crazy gestures for casts and summons and have lots of disjointed magic to work with.
- A character that practices "Gun Kata". They'd have double tap moves that would fire projectiles after striking with melee blows and projectiles that would be influenced by other projectiles they possess.
- More double or pair up characters with the mechanics I discussed with IntelliHeath in one of the older threads. I don't have the link but if someone would be nice enough to share it below, it'd seriously be appreciated.
If not for the fact the games are pretty much limited to Japan now beyond the one time EU got a game, and her cameo appearances, I always though Barbara the Bat would be cool. Fills that niche and gives us a more unorthodox female character from the norm.
Well, we don't have a confirmation on Wolf being playable character but I'm rooting for Wolf coming back so I hope to see that. I have a weird feeling that Samurai Goroh will be luigified clone of Takamaru if it happened.
Gadzooks you don't know how bad I want this. I've forever wanted those rivals. I honestly think Ridley has better chances than Smaurai Goroh though. I've just kind of given up screaming for him.
Intelliheath! You just gave me hope again! A luigified clone would be better than no Goroh at all!
I do feel that the Wars series is probably the one with the most entries and history among those currently without a playable character, and it should really be the #1 priority for a newcomer.
The problem I have is that the COs, who are ostensibly the only viable choices, don't do a great job individually of representing the series. I actually think a simple infantry unit would be better, but they are so generic, I'm just not sure it could happen.
The way it is now, as an assist trophy including an assortment of units, seems to be the best case scenario. I think the series will also get a stage this time, whether on 3DS or Wii U I don't know.
i must be one of the only big smash fan that doesn't give a shit about which character makes it or not (as long as they're not filthy 3rd party characters)

Based on his appearance in the Melee intro I see why Wolf didn't make it into Smash until brawl. Fox and Wolf look just alike there!
I wouldn't be thrilled if Samurai Goroh got in because he would just be a clone and he isn't aesthetically pleasing to me but if he does, good news for his followers.
Ridley on the other hand? Despite how tired I am of hearing about it, I'd be overjoyed and if he is in, Sakurai should make him the polar opposite of Little Mac.
Just beat Kirby's Epic Yarn. Prince Fluff should definitely be an assist trophy.
He could have his yarn rope to pick up and throw enemies, slam down from above with his ton form, and ram into people with his car form. It would probably be a lot of work for the development team though. =/
Fun fact about travis touchdown, Suda 51 was part of all those hundreds of people who worked on brawl in some capacity, and he has outright said he wants travis touchdown in the next smash.
That would be neat but with Pacman joining the roster most likely, seems the 3rd party limit has been reached. Especially if Snake returns as a veteran.
That got Snake in... sorta. But I'm pretty sure anybody even remotely related to making games for Nintendo wants their character in SSB. It's a big honor.

Well, how many have we had across the entire series?
Link
Young Link
Toon Link
Marth
Roy
Ike
Meta-Knight
Pit (kind of?)
Ganondorf would count if he actually used the damn thing.
And then everyone else basically just uses fisticuffs, laser guns, or explosives. That's not too many swordfighters, particularly since the pairs of Young Link/Toon Link and Roy/Ike haven't had both show up in the same game.
Of course, we don't have to use the Monado-wielder, even if it's a major part of that game's plot. Melia would help increase the game's severely low number of magic-wielders (there's Zelda, and... uh...). Riki would bring a much-welcomed non-human addition (seriously, ignoring that Mega Man's technically a robot, they've all been humans so far). Dunban would provide a significantly older character to the table (insofar as 30 is "significantly older", but hell, it wouldn't be another young adult). Reyn would forever make Smash Bros. Reyn Time.
I do not like the idea of "Super Crossover Fan roster". It really waters down the concept of Smash. I think only the most iconic and relevant third party characters get a pass, and of those you listed, Simon may be the closest.
And if Suda51 wants his character to be in a crossover, he can make his own fighting game with Travis Touchdown, Garcia Hotspur, Mondo Zappa, Juliet Starling, Lily Bergamo and whatever else.

Here's another fun fact about Travis Touchdown: his games bombed and have had absolutely no cultural impact. He doesn't belong with Sonic, Snake, and Mega Man.
(I don't mean to sound so condescending, but he'd be a terrible addition. Third-party characters should be iconic.)

I thought maybe Ryu and Simon were better fits for Smash since the both of them were on classic Nintendo years ago. I figured since they used Mega Man's classic 8-bit look, they could give Ryu and Simon the same treatment with Ryu's old purple getup, and Simon's old look.

To be fair I want Lucina but I'd see masked Lucina as an alternate for Marth.
We need more green haired characters and Tiki is a pretty major and popular character. She's female, can use magic, and can turn into a fucking dragon. She's fan service Ridley and whatever Mage you want.
I still think she has some sort of capacity to be chosen even if it's slim.

In regards to both of you, that's Lin from Days of Ruin and although it may not be the best Advance Wars game, Lin herself is far from generic. She represents femininity and strength that you don't usually see in female characters.
She's sarcastic and tough but really corny and the strong act she puts up alongside her being a dork and her great character design makes her stand out.
I chose her over the other Advance Wars rep mostly because she's perfect for Snakes move set should he be cut at all. Hell Lin is a badass and she looks as if she could be in FOX and in the Metal Gear Solid franchise and Snakes moves would translate perfectly on her.
If anything she can get any other move set so long as she or any other CO make it in.
I wouldn't mind Andy/Rachel team and commanding officers have a ton of personality when it comes to their conversations.
They deserve a character period and there could be a good amount of moves to make up.
They can play as a tactician or be a part of the battlefield or they could even mount a tank and fight just like Tron Bonne in Mahvel.
Seriously though Team Tiki and Lin.
I like having the "unpopular" opinion when it comes to characters. Much more interesting

But none of them beat Megaman really. The only third party character I can see being included now is Pac-Man, if they include anymore at all. I personally wouldn't care if they didn't include Pac.
