PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

For the curious, FFX/X-2 HD is up for pre-order on EU PSN (at least the browser version). The PS3 and Vita versions cost the same £29.99 pounds. Pretty good price considering it's SE. That's £15 pounds for each game with updated visuals and soundtrack.

I already have the PS3 retail version pre-ordered for the artbook. The vita version will do nicely on PSN.
Nice. Kinda pricey at $55 on the Australian store but it is for two great games so I'm okay with that. Pre-ordered just because, even though there isn't really any benefit to it.

Still deciding on Dragons Crown, gotta decide soon, very tempting....
About time SCEE sorted a discount for this.

This is an issue for sony - if your consumers dont know when the shop updates and releases games youre missing out on sales. Iirc it doesnt, but the store should say in big bold letters on the homepage or even main hub screen when thr updates are. Ifeel like the only way to learn about this is from knowing th industry by reading certain websites.

Also, its march - should be hearing about my lost luggage claim and finally able to rebuy a vita!
I'm talking about the basic stuff, like US on a Tuesday and EU on a Wednesday. Couldn't agree more that each store should have a defined time for the monkey to press the button.

Isn't it still March 3 in NA?
The furthest the US can be away from GMT is -8 and it's almost 14:00, so no. :p

Considered some of the psp visual novels then?
Nah, i already considered all the games that run on Vita and those 4 are the ones that i desire more at this moment, maybe Eliminage a little more than the others, but it's a relatively old game, maybe it's wiser to wait for a sale, Sorcery Saga is new so there are no worries.
Anyway i'll wait for tomorrow's update, for now i play Terraria and Broken Sword.

Wait! Maybe it's time for a visit to the japanese store for some demos! Yes i decided!

They shouldn't even need to press a button. A company as big as Sony should have a way to automate the whole process so that the store gets updated at a set time every week.

I don't really believe there's a big red button that gets pressed by a monkey.

Of course, let's not be silly.

It's one of those bird bobber-thingies that normally look like they're drinking from a glass of water with a button in front of it.

Dead Nation ready to drop!

It'll be releasing tomorrow right? I wonder if they'll release the DLCs right away.

Well, I admit I suck for not playing Tearaway but I posted it in the ashamed you didn't play yet thread so I guess I have to play it now. Just waiting for a sale and I'll bite it right away. But for now there's too much games that will release this month and the next that I've been anticipating since last year and are the reasons I bought a Vita.

It's been in a sale recently (still on?) in the EU. Great game and certainly one to put at the front of your list of games to play!

I use the NA store so I don't know if there was a recent sale on it.

It was 20$ last year in NA as well

I didn't even have the money to buy a single month of PS+ when the game was released. All I had in the month of November was SS so I couldn't buy it then.

I can't fault someone for waiting for a sale. It is the only game that I paidnfull retail for in the last three years, and I don't regret it. It
Is a wonderful game and is my favorite game on the system.

Are hacked bones in Dragons Crown still a problem?

I got three characters who look awfully suspicious (lvl 255, 183 and 151).

Hacked bones?
I had a bunch of level 99s before they raised the cap -- I'd assume, especially if the names are in Japanese, that they're legit. I've never come across "hacked" anything in that game.

Will anyone be playing awesomenauts?

I'm sure they will be... on Steam. :P

Finished tearaway. Dont know why I took so long. It was amazing!

The last few stages were surreal. But this is one of the cleverest games I have played in a long time.

I've been tempted multiple times to buy a 3DS purely for Theatrhythm and Pokemon. I don't think I'd ever be able to get used to the huge downgrade in hardware from the Vita to 3DS if I ever did get one though.

Downgrade in hardware, but a lot bigger library of games to play. ;S

I just bought a Vita and I have DJMax, Sumioni, and Street Fighter X Tekken (via PS Plus). I'm probably gonna buy Miku for it too.

This is a Dangan Ronpa question, but I'm too afraid to go to the game's OT due to accidental spoilers so I'll post it here:

I just got the game, and right now I'm stuck having to decide on the difficulty. I typically play video games at hard difficulty but I fear that this kind of game would only be frustrating instead of genuinely challenging if I set it to hard. Do any people who have already played the game here have any opinion on this?

Just found someone on NicoNico streaming Soul Sacrifice Delta. Video quality is poor, but some of the spell combinations are so awesome! I think I may have to import this game if we don't get an announcement for the west by e3.

Edit:

Mean isn't challenging at all. It just adds more gameplay elements/obstructions added during the class trials. If you're just interested in the story, and easily frustarted then go for easy - you won't miss anything important. But personally, I liked having some variety added to the minigames :)

Bones found during online play that can corrupt your save file. The most infamous one being TESSA. I did some searching and the issue seems to be patched. I did however, find a character that cost 10mill to resurrect.

Theatrhythm sucks. It's an incredibly overrated game.

And I say it as a person who loves both Final Fantasy music, and rhythm games in general. I picked Theatrhythm with my 3DS XL on the day of the XL's NA launch, and found it very underwhelming.

The 3DS is a system worth owning for multiple reasons, but Theatrhythm is not one of them.

Nah, bones aint an issue anymore.

10mill for a chracter aint uncommon, seeing as the level cap has now been raised tremendously. If you ever need a dungeon buddy Im always down for a Dragons Crown run through.

Same here, always on hard.

You'll have no problems in DR just so long as you pay attention to the instructions it gives on the fly, it gradually teaches you how to play each section as the game progresses so you should have no issue.

I went with easy because I really just wanted to experience the story but as I understand it the difficulty really only effects some of the minigames?

That's your opinion. As a Final Fantasy fan and a rhythm game fan, I love Theatrhythm. I still play it. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

The only 3DS game I've played more than Theatrhythm is Animal Crossing. Theathrhythm is a great game. I really hope Curtain Call gets localized.

But for now, I just want Grace Chen to hurry up and flip the switch for The Walking Dead.

i think it usually hits around 2-3pm eastern nowadays. seems like they are trying to get some sort of consistency going the past few weeks

One of the things that put me off the most in Theatrhythm is how "fake" the battles are. There are absolutely no battle elements at play in them, it's just a visual theme. Once the song ends, whatever monster was still alive just fades away, proving that there was no actual battle being played out. That's so dumb. And yet people are praising it for some reason. I don't get it. The game does absolutely nothing interesting, it just rehashes FF music straight from the original games (with no rearrangement to improve sample quality) with really silly looking visuals. Everything about this game screams "let's shamelessly milk the Final Fantasy franchise" with no actual love put into it.

So do I REEEEAAALLLY have to beat P4G and P3 in order to start playing P4A?

It's just spoilery enough that you should probably play the RPGs first if you plan on playing them at all.

Probably because it's a rhythm game and not an RPG.

And the monsters you kill drop items so your performance does have an effect on the optional RPG mechanics anyway.

Yes. Otherwise a few things in P4A will not make a whole lot of sense.

Like I posted, there are only about 2 or so games I'd really want to buy a 3DS for. 3DS might have a bigger overall library, but Vita has more games I actually want to play.

Pretty much.
I wanted a 3DS for Luigi's Mansion 2, DKCR3D, and the new LoZ.
Only one of them lived up to expectations and now my 3DS is just collecting dust.

Finally got Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God after eyeing it for so long. It's as fun a dungeon crawler as I was hoping for, the framerate does seem to drop when attacking enemys but I got used to it pretty quickly and it's not really a gamebreaker. (for me anyway)

It's $5 cheaper than the RRP (going by EB pricing anyway) so I'm actually suprised it's not $59.95 or more due to conversion rates. On the topic of that I'm still scratching my head at the fact that the Vita version of FFX/X-2 HD is more expensive on Vita than PS3 here.
