He is young, for sure, but if we are being honest we have no chance of winning it so why not develop a player like him. As Hoddle said, a two footed player with his movement is perfect for international football. He is rough around the edges but I would have more faith in him than Wilshere and Henderson at that level personally. Played well for England when played. We should target the next euros and world cup.
I can see both sides of it, if the manager was going to start him then yeah it should be a no brainer. I think Sturridge was forcing the managers hand though and showed Hughes didn't want to play him so Sturridge knew it was time to move on. As bad as his development was at Chelsea, because they don't develop young English players (or many foreigners for that matter), he still got some good medals. Just a shame he was held back, as he should have been in on the scene like Rooney and Owen were.
