Combat is great, sure, but the XP system become useless after the first half of the game. The latter half (when I already had all the useful stuff) I was wondering what melee finisher to get (I think there were around 5) and other superflous stuff.

Combat wise I agree TR 2013 > Uncharted. I don't like carrying only 2 weapons, having 4 + secondary skill for each felt really good. And I like bows, which was a big plus lol. I didn't like QTE neither U3 melee combat (Batman Arkham copy-paste).

But Uncharted > TR in everything else. Which is story, characters, level design and art direction. Collectibles are annoying on both (but TR has more), puzzles are spare and easy on both.

Overall U2 > U:GA (I really enjoyed it, I know I'm weird lol) = U3 if the ship didn't exist > TR > U1 > GAF servers at major gaming events > U3.

It's at least consistent these days. Man, back when the PS3 first launched the fucking store was a website and it would update whenever it wanted on Tuesdays and you'd be happy if you got more than a couple of trailers. Them were dark times, lads.

The player becoming better at a game, and more proficient at it's mechanics and systems, is a better form of tiered progress than skill trees and would have more intelligently manifested the"my 1st time" origin story than cheap game design cliches do... arbitrary skill trees and contextually silly crafting systems are creatively bankrupt.

This is the exact reason I refuse to go all digital or preorder online...and exactly why I continue to shop at Gamestop.

I was home playing Dark Souls II at 12:10 this morning while the OT was blowing up with people bitching about PSN or shipments.
 
My Vita 2000 has arrived at my city's airport! Looking very likely that I'll be able to get my hands on it at least by tomorrow! :D
 
Eh, I'm of the notion that UC's combat is better than TR's. Fighting with Laura felt like a chore by halfway through and her skills you could upgrade didn't do much for the overall gameplay except make weapons stronger, etc. At least UC didn't try to mask what it was with a separate system.

Does remote play behave any differently? Or is it the same? Thanks

The problem is when mechanics are the ones for a "standard third person shooter" and you've mastered the game after 30 minutes. I don't mind if a game has a skill tree if it's good enough. Collecting weapon parts is a nice way to encourage exploration and opening new paths if everything is well done. I don't think the learn > unlock > learn kind of design is lazy but definition. The problem is when it becomes superfluous and there isn't much room for improvement otherwise.

Day 9 of being banned from PSN whilst my account is under investigation for hacking... I have received my fifth generic "We're working as fast as we can, please understand" email. Sigh.
 
Holy shit apparently my Vita 2000 is out for delivery today. That is some damn quick postage, I only ordered it a couple of days ago and it was coming from Hong Kong with free postage. I'm impressed.

I'd probably put TR above Golden Abyss but in general I agree. I think TR had better level design than every UC apart from 2. I don't rate it compared to a lot of previous TR games, but for what it was it was enjoyable enough and I enjoyed it more than most UC games. For me it's UC2 > TR 13 > GA > UC1 > UC3. Golden Abyss is so underrated it's not even funny. It didn't have the big spectacle of the console games, but gameplay wise it a big step up from the turd that was UC3.

But anyway TR1, 2, 4 and Anniversary destroy all. Probably Guardian of Light too.

Not being a "snot" and you are welcome. He/she stated that his account is under investigation for hacking. I imagine if he knew more he'd have said. And you'd be surprised how many people can't read.

How much is a ton? The same thing happened to me and they spent 60 bucks. My issue was resolved instantaneously though. Took less than 15 minutes on the phone for a refund and a password change.

I wonder what conditions are so different so as to require such completely methods of handling the circumstance.

So the story goes like this (it's a real one, no fabrication whatsoever):

I was at work the other night (hotel night manager) and I was on the public computer in reception and I signed into my PSN account to buy RE1-3 bundle. I stupidly left my account signed in because of something called "work" that came up at my job.

Anyway, I fired up the Vita and began downloading my RE games to it.

I head home and sleep. Wake up, email from Sony saying my account was suspended for a month for transmitting pornographic material. Now to understand a little about me, I'm not an online gamer, I play mostly single player games, and chat to the 5 or so actual friends on there. I've accumulated 120 friends from people just adding me randomly out of the blue, but I never chat to them. I mostly just play my games, unlock trophies and that's it. I don't even voice chat and all that malarkey. I'm just not that sort of gamer.

Anyway, I'm not in panic stations because while it sucks as Second Son is coming, a month is a month.

I hit reply to the email, explain my situation, ask for more info, and see if I get a response and if not, I'd call them.

Anyway, I fire up my gmail just now to see if I have a reply. Well I didn't get a reply to that email but I did get this fresh email from Sony:

"Dear AstuteClass, we are contacting you regarding your Sony Entertainment Network account and your recent online activity.

On 09-03-2014, we noted that your online activity in Group Messaging was in breach of the PlayStation®Network Terms & Conditions for the following reason: BANREASON.

What in the blue blazes?! What the actual hell?! Not only do I have no fucking idea why the hell they suspended me in the first place, apart from this one size fits all reason, they didn't even give me the option of calling or leaving a number in case this is wrong.

Just "Screw you, we'll take your 42 Platinums, £38 in your wallet, 5 months remaining PS+ sub. and all the games you've ever purchased."

I'm about to call tomorrow (10:30pm here in UK and I have work to go to), but what the hell are my chances here? Will they be able to see where this "pornographic" content came from? Where it was sent? Will they take the 7 year clean account status into consideration and how I hadn't done any such thing before?

Seriously fretting here GAF. Help me!

I don't understand how someone could send pornographic material using your account if it was only logged on the web store.

I'm probably the worst person to answer this question as I've never been able to get remote play to function reliably on my home network. As far as how well the wifi operates I'm not sure. At a glance the number of bars in the wifi icon seemed rather low compared to what I think I'm used to seeing. But it is wifi after all so it's hard say if my connection was just being finicky in that moment.

If I come to any solid conclusions one way or another I'll be sure to inform you.

Do/did you play LittleBigPlanet by some chance? I've heard of lots of people get their account banned after having a picture or published level moderated through the "Good Grief" button, both rightfully and wrongfully.

I've no idea either. I've only just calmed down and saw "Group Messaging" activity in the email. Isn't that PS3 text chat or whatever? I haven't been on PS3 in months, apart from the gf using it for Netflix.

Well, I absolutely, categorically have never used that. Always found having to load separate apps to use Vita stuff to be too cumbersome and not worth the bother.

And to the other guy, I've not played LBP since 2009. Can anyone see if my Trophy list is working or something? Just add me or check it in some way. At least so I know they haven't deleted me before I call up with the fury of Kratos on that phone tomorrow.

It just really sucks to have no set game release time. I bought a ps4 controller just so my girlfriend and I could play towerfall today. :(

Did they fix the squeakiness? I have no issues with my triggers, but the four main buttons can be pretty noisy.
