Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Worst opinion in history then?

Layoff, he's entitled to his opinion. I liked Banjo Kazooie then, but I agree that the character designs have aged horribly and neither has the music.

Shanoa_by_goenitzchild.jpg

Order of Ecclesia was the last good Castlevania game and I hope Shanoa is in the game in some form. I would lose my shit if she's a playable character and not just because she looks and acts like Lin.

Forget Simon Belmont, she's the true Castlevania character.

I mean she's metal as hell, first female protagonist in Castlevania and she can summon spears, scythes, spirits, and use magic all from the glyph tattoos on her back.

The red colouring gives an illusion that she summons this shit from blood and what she can do is insane.

I wish Konami would make a sequel of the game and star her again, fuck Lord of Shadows :[

I read some of the arguments some of you guys have and it's difficult for me to be convinced one way or the other about some character's inclusion/exclusion since I kind of feel like the conversations that Sakurai & co. have about the characters override these reasons. I mean if Sakurai has ever talked about the reasons for picking certain characters or some kind of concrete requirements list that a character has to pass in order to have a chance to get in, then I'd appreciate it if someone linked me it.

Also, I doubt it really matters whether a character belongs or fits in with all the other Smash characters, or whether some fans think certain characters are poor choices for reasons. My impression is that Sakurai, his team and other relevant parties are just going to put whoever they want in the roster. And if they want Snake back again then he'll be back. I mean there are characters I'd like to play as in Smash that aren't in any of the current games and there are some characters that I see in the current games and I wonder what the reasoning was for their inclusion, but trying to convince others within the fanbase that a certain character should or should not be in the roster just seems sort of fruitless to me.

Sorry Red, what I meant was first MAIN female protagonist.

But so is Sonia Belmont (she was the only character playable in her game), and so are Carrie Fernandez (she has her own story/bosses, and you can beat the game without playing any of the other characters in CV64/LoD) and Maria Renard (once you rescue her, you can beat the game without Richter in Rondo, and in SotN for the Saturn, you can only play as her without any interaction with Alucard or Richter).
Charlotte is not the solo protagonist of her adventure, granted, but you can beat PoR without ever using Jonathan except for the sections that are specifically designed to use both characters.

There's also been powerful and playable female supporting characters with Sypha and Yoko Belnades.

Fine you win :[

I got into Castlevania through the DS games and Shanoa was just someone I really liked.

Don't get me wrong, Shanoa is a cool character. :P But the stamina mechanic in OoE was annoying. However, she's not really representative of Castlevania. If we got somebody from that series, it would have to be a Belmont, and Simon is pretty much THE Belmont.

After all, he killed Dracula, then picked up all the pieces of Dracula scattered across the land and revived him, just to kill him again. If that isn't badass, I dunno what is.

Seriously though, would it be possible for 007 to be in smash 4, or would licensing issues get in the way? He would be an incredible character to reveal at E3 for the shock value.

Already have enough gun guys IMO and I feel like someone like Bond would just clash with Smash's style

I bet the wall of Sakurai's cubicle/office/room has a bunch of nintendo character pictures and he just throws darts while wearing a blindfold when going for newcomers.

Guys, guys. Let's put aside our differences to realize the real newcomer here. Take a look at some of the newly-named characters in popular series known for their high levels of replayability and customization.

Hooker (GTA franchise) is clearly next up for confirmation.

speaking of VAs that overlap in weird places, what's the name of Melia's VA that appears in Doctor Who?

yes yes I'm aware Palutena is actually relevant for Smash Bros

OoE was AMAZING. I LOVE that game! I still own it and the hard mode is brutal.

Man, I feel like playing again!

Y'all probably don't care, but view the new Tomodachi 3DS stage on Miiverse.

Damn, the game looks SO clean uncompressed, Villager looks so clean.

Every time I think of the 3DS version I just think of how much of a beating it'll give my circle pad.

I don't really feel comfortable being rough to a piece of hardware compared to a replaceable controller.

I know it's been said a billion times by a lot of people, but I really dislike what Brawl did to a lot of veterans.

The buff happy Sakurai so far has me hopeful (Samus and Bowser looking awesome), so here's wishing Sheik gets some needed power buffs (pretty much all her aerials are weaker in Brawl). Her forward air in particular doesn't need to be as dangerous as it was in Melee, but it can barely do anything in Brawl unless you're at stupid high percent and already off-stage.

Hoping Link isn't too useless off-stage this time, and that Sakurai gives him a good Spin Attack. Peach, Mario, Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon's movesets in particular can really depend on hitstun so it's all up to Smash 4's system as a whole if they're going to be great.

Marfy (aside from Shield Breaker buff), Kirby, Fox and Pikachu seem relatively unchanged from Brawl so far, which is fine. Here's hoping for Ike, Ness, Wolf and Meta Knight to be announced soon!

Yeah, when playing on the 3DS I'm always going to be self aware about how rough I am with the circle pad. It really doesn't feel like it can take so much. I already feel like I abuse the C-Stick on my Game Cube controller thanks to it being my primary way of attacking / smash directional influence...

Having free momentum while throwing out aerials is gonna be tough on 3DS considering there's just 1 analogue to work with.

Argh, I need to continue playing the Igavania's... I've still yet to finish Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance and Order of Ecclesia...

I'm also quite surprised at people wanting a Castlevania character for Smash Bros. It'd be interesting, but it's a really "out there" thought for me, haha. I've no opposition to it, though! :)

N...no. :/
I don't want Banjo, I don't like Banjo, and Banjo would also mean the awful soundtrack of Banjo-Kazooie. Those tubas and horns haunt my nightmares to this day.

I agree. Most of Rare's mascot type designs look like something you'd see on a cereal box from a 3rd world country.

The soundtrack was completely forgettable, in fact i only remember the teddy bear picnic one.

As long as you're not a savage, it'll be fine.

I played hundreds of hours of SF4 on it and the controls are WAY more complicated than Smash.
