PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

Oh hey, look at that.

  • inFamous: Second Son (PS4) - Also known as "the main reason to own a PS4 this month," this is a continuation of the inFamous series that every right-thinking PS3 owner knows and loves. Looks pretty awesome, but I'm kind of busy this month so I'm probably going to hold off. Digital and retail, but you know you want it digitally. Right? (Interested, but time-broke.)
  • Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition (PS4) - Also known as Stealth Bastard on other platforms, this title came out for the PS3 and PSV last summer. This is a 2D platformer which uses the type of stealth techniques made famous in the series in our very next game below. Digital only. (Not interested.)
  • Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS3, PS4) - The saga of Big Boss continues in this prequel to the main series set after Peace Walker. It's also the introduction to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Frankly, after Metal Gear Solid 4, I just don't think I give a crap anymore. Can someone show me one short video that convinces me that this series shouldn't already be put to bed? Thanks. Digital and retail. (Not interested.)
  • SteamWorld Dig (PS4, PSV) - This is a mining game released last year for Windows, MacOS X, GNU/Linux, and the Nintendo 3DS. It is a combination platformer/resource/mining game that looks kind of interesting to me. Digital only. (Kind of interested.)
  • Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster (PS3, PSV) - The PS2 classics remastered for the PS3 and PSV. This has been out in Japan since December, so reviews are already out there. Metacritic lists it at an 85 on the PS3. (Not interested. But you knew that, already, didn't you?)
  • Luftrausers (PS3, PSV) - This is a 2D airplane shooter game from Vlambeer (Super Crate Box) published by Devolver (Hotline Miami). Looks pretty danged awesome, so I'm looking at this as a possible purchase. Here's a video from last year. Is it crossbuy? YES, YES IT IS. Digital only. (Interested.)
  • Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z (PS3) - Already out in Japan, this is another Ninja Gaiden game from Tecmo Koei. You play as Yaiba Kamikaze, who is maimed by the series character Ryu Hayabusa and restored with mechanical parts by a mysterious organization. Digital and retail. (Not interested.)

So...Luftrausers for me this time?

Yaiba is not a *true* Ninja Gaiden game. It's set in that universe, but it's not really in the same style. I have it pre-ordered for PC, so if anyone is interested in it and wants some PC impressions, I can post them somewhere and make sure you guys can get at them.

Niiice. Peasants everywhere.

How did you even remember that post?
Still rocking 50ppp
That was the same page everyone told me every Laura Bailey ever. Tales of Grace f is waiting for me. And I still don't know what to do with my extra $15. I guess I'll reluctantly have to buy FF13-2 DLC without any further suggestions =\

I just realized that I didn't read this. What's up with Stealth Inc? Is it cross-buy? I already have the VIta/PS3 version

Which game would you recommend if you could only pick one at the moment. Persona 4 or Ys Memories of Celceta?

Assuming you know that these two game have vastly different gameplay styles and that you have no preference for either, I'd go for Persona 4 Golden.

-it's cheaper
-has more gameplay hours to sink into it, so more bang for your buck
-better story
-Rise

This week is going to be a great week. Infamous and FFX, hooray.

I haven't played Ys yet, but Persona 4 Golden is amazing. This guy below describes it quite well. Keep in mind that if you have a US account it goes on sale quite often, so maybe you should wait. Still worth full price though.

Why are you even thinking of buying dlc for the worst DLC for the worst FF game

You have to get Steamworld Dig. It's fantastic.

I watched a game video of it and I struggled to see what the overall purpose of the game was. Are there levels? Does it have a story and an ending?

I think it's supposed to be Minecraft in 2D crossed with Metroidvania.
I think there's some sort of story that keeps you going deeper into the mines to make more money.

Most impressions of the game, from people who have played it on 3DS or PC have been positive if not overly glowing reviews.

Hay guy's since I didn't post this in my first post, I figure now is a great time :). Here is my library of games for Vita (some are missing, but these are more or less most of them):

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share most of my Vita library with you guys :).

Nice collection RK128! You need to get Persona 4 Golden, Ys Celceta, and Knytt Underground. Btw, why are some of the icons glowing?

Anyways, maybe I'll post a pic of my collection. I've never actually gathered all of my Vita games together. They're so small that they're just perfect to squeeze into some remaining space here and there.

Why do you have Epic Mickey 2 and why is it in the Sony section?

That is due to the Vita version being funded by Sony (thus explaining why it is in the Sony bubble). As for why I got it, it was a mix of morbid interest and the game being 7.50 in the 13/13 Sale in January (got Killzone and many of the indie games due to that as well). I liked the original Epic Mickey and wondered if the Vita version of the second one was good (I've read posts about it being a bad port but the touch screen aiming and the fixed AI did sound appealing). Its better than many give it credit for but its nothing special, just an average platformer with some anoying issues here and there.

Gaf I hate you. I'm starting to think about getting Luftrausers too (not on d1 of course)

That was due to selecting the games by accident when taking the picture of them. I own Knytt Underground in addition to many other Vita games not posted (Lego Batman 2, Silent Hill BoM, Jet Set Radio, and many of the PS+ games from last March till now). I never really played much JRPG's, so that is why Persona 4 Golden and Ys Celceta aren't in my collection.

How do the hell do you select a game by accident 6 times in a row while taking screenshots?

If anyone is interested in Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God newegg has it for $30 ($10 discount) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16879335034&cm_sp=

Ditto. I loved this game! I enjoyed the fact that it's focus was exploration. Simply moving around the map just to see what's there. I really think it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Ah, okay. You should give Knytt Underground a whirl if you haven't already.

The only game I can reccomend to you is TxK. Seems like you already got everything

The game is quite fun; didn't play much of it but the mellow soundtrack, really vivid 2-D world, and tight controls made it a lot of fun to play :). I will give it more time latter on, but my Vita backlog is too huge as it is :).

I think that being a PS+ freebie has done more harm than good. People got it for free, so they just tried it for half an hour and then deleted - I did that as well.

Then I gave it a second chance, I got past the first two chapters - which are nothing but a prologue and do a bad job in introducing the main game(Chapter 3).

I felt lucky discovering that little gem that was hidden right under my nose.

Another underappreciated PS+ game is When Vikings Attack. Single player is boring, but multiplayer is awesome
