I think I got hit by a really lame glitch.

Why is Cartographer Cale not in the basement of his house? I have all 8 torches lit up and he's not in there. This is really frustrating!

I don't have a soul for the
dragon in Freja's area
, but 4 fires under the
Majula Mansion
are lit.
Whenever I go to the door at the ruined fork bonfire I'm just told to produce the king's sign or whatever.

Am I screwed?
I ran back to Freja's room and there was this thing under the dragon, but it just told me nothing happened.

I've killed the Old Iron Demon, Lost Sinner, Freja, and Rotten. I thought those (and the dragon in Freja's area) would be the sign or something.

I've apparently killed 4 main bosses yet can only think of 3 lol.

Only killed
Last Sinner, Dear Freja and The Rotten
AFAIK and have unlocked and progressed through
drangleic castle
up to the boss fog after the
queen
.

*edit* Maybe
the last giant
counts?

You're going to the wrong place. The king's door is through the center path at the crossroads, the place you need to go is through the left door. The one with all the poison-y gits waiting for you.

And you don't actually get the dragon's soul, I just figure that's the plot reason why Freja's soul isn't big and orange like the others. You've got everything you need.

Alright, started a fresh character aiming to see if the Dark Souls 2 Grant-esque weapon is any good. Anybody actually used the thing yet?

Finally getting used to running a heavy armor sword and shield rather than a medium armor pyro, but I also finally got the pyro glove so I definitely think I'lll adapt that into my skill set. Couple quick questions, though.

I've gotten really into using the bastard sword. Love the way it feels. Any other specific weapons I should be looking for like that or is there a certain upgrade path that's going to be useful to me?

Also, what are the rules for getting invaded? Can you not get invaded if you just stick at the lowest "hollowed" health? Just trying to figure out why I haven't seen anyone yet. I suspect it's either that or maybe my NAT's screwing with things.

AH, I think I found it, thanks!

Anyone use the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring and light armor? It's like playing the game on mute. It's kinda relaxing.

Dodge and punish when he slams fist down. Back off for fire. Hardest part is that FUCKING LAVA HOLE!!

Yeah, falling was the only problem for me a couple of times. Other than that he is cake. Kept my distance and simply walked out of the way when he spewed fire and rolled to the right when he did his little fire beam thing. One of the easiest bosses so far... by far.

what's a good weapon i should be gunning for for a faith cleric? i have the dull ember and i guess i can access the boss vendors.

Am I the only one who can't stand that they removed vibration when you block / get hit? I find it very disorientating and have to constantly glance up to see if I got hit since I can't always tell. Why they removed this after 2 games I don't understand.

As easy as Iron King was I'll take a fight like that over something like Bed of Chaos or Dragon God any day.

Yeah, Ceaseless Discharge was especially a joke. But that is just how the Souls games roll with some of the bosses. It's actually nice to have an easy one here and there.

So after beating
Smelter Demon
I went back saw summon signs and reentered only to fight a new
Persuer
. He fell and died so it was easy, but it surprised me.

Yep, that was solid. I liked that zone. Might be my favorite one in the game so far, actually.
I also have to say I quite liked The Gutter. Sure it's a bit lazy in that it's Blighttown redux, but then I also enjoyed how foreboding Blighttown was, and it was a similar feel here. And the torch was actually helpful! It was neat to navigate that area with one. Wish there'd been more of that in the game.

Agreed. Slowly picking my way through that area was hugely rewarding. I really liked the ladder room.

The
Huntsman's Copse->Harvest Valley->Earthen Peak
path has been a lot of fun, as well. I really dig the narrative they all imply. I haven't really touched the following area. I'm looking forward to trying it tonight.

Are there enough Lockstones for the Phaross doors?

Guys. Thanks for the tip about going coop to farm souls. Feel like my game isn't broken anymore.

I think this is what From wanted all along. incentivise people to play coop, where the game hooks you in, pushing more players to coop areas and bosses gives players a taste of how fun playing together is. I think this is good for newer players or people who didn't spend much time in coop in the other games.

If it makes you feel better, you don't have to fight him.

I just beat him thank the lord. That was another intense fight, I would have lost if not for my totally rocking sunbro.

I was sunbroing smelter demon just now and yeah, all my summoners keep dying. D:

I've been sunbroing for the last hour. Either they die at the boss or die because they're too much in a hurry and get nailed by an archer. :/

Man I might just skip him for now, any benefit taking him on first?

You get a closer bonfire. But if you take a left when you go up the ladder and you use a pharos stone you get a bonfire and unlock
Belfry Sol

I'm near the end of the game and I still haven't killed the Smelter Demon.

Got a lot done tonight.

Got my second Primal Bonfire after the
giant spider. Do I miss anything for not killing the headless dude in the bonfire room?

You won't get his helmet for sure, and maybe not the rest of his armor (I can't remember if he drops it, or you get it elsewhere). Either way, the set is the best I've found so far.

I fee like I have the perfect build, I'm OP as hell, or this game is stupid easy. I've beaten the last 4 areas without dying, including bosses. SL 88ish, I'm in Harvest Valley atm, destroying these guys with my arrows. It's still addicting as hell though. I wanna change my melee weapon, it's a Fire Longsword +5, but nothing has come close to matching its damage and I still can't make the special weapons since I don't have the ember yet. I'm a high DEX build, I found a rapier which I really like and has an A dex stat boost, I'm hoping I can do something with that, but I'm not sure I should commit to it only to find out nothing great will come of it.

Post stats please. :D

Made it to
Nashandra
, who proceeded to kick my ass for an hour. Will tackle
her
tomorrow. Too many boss rooms with holes in the floor, cheapening the difficulty.
