So in Shaded Ruins,
in the hole you drop into with the 4 basilisks and the acid pools, there's a firekeeper sat up on an inaccessible ledge
, anyone know how to get up there?

Also, is there an equivalent of Orange Charred ring in this game? Something to help with the lava in
Iron Keep
.

I've had this issue before too. Maybe some random bug?

I feel like I return to human form whenever I'm a phantom, in coop or PVP, but with a chunk of my health off. I'm pretty sure the wonkiness with switching forms in multiplayer is a bug. From said as such on twitter that you're not supposed to go human after being summoned, at least.

I still advocate "Lighting Returns" as the OT for PC :)
If they return it to splendour...

Speaking of which, what does the current thread title mean? I don't get it.

Personally I see a lot of idea reuse.

When there's this much unique content and the thing they're recycling from is one of the best games ever made, I think I can let it slide. Didn't bother me at all, loving every second of the game so far.

There's aonther small hole in the ground in that area, drop down there and you'll get to him

Anybody know where the key is for
the hidden door in the Shrine of Amana? The door is hidden behind some branches

Similarly, I was an idiot and smashed the only chest with a token of spite in it after listening to a bad message. After repeatedly getting wrecked by people stunlocking me with fast swords in pvp, since poise apparently does nothing this time around, I need to farm more cracked red eye shards...except the mobs that drop them no longer spawn.

I don't get this; my great club of fire +8 doesn't destroy a chest in the one hit necessary to check for mimics.

What are you people doing to chests.

It's a damper for sure, but I'm still enjoying it. I'm pretty deep in though, probably near end-game.

I beat the game the other day. Spoilers:

I was pretty disappointed with the end game boss fight. It was pretty cool who it ended up being, but it feels like there should have been.. more. It was also ridiculously easy, with her basically being a giant target. Gwyn was far superior to this, especially the lead up with all the Black Knights. I'm disappointed there was no real final level.

The game was great overall, but the end just kind of sucked. Giant memories were a cool idea, but not as a final area.

Feel that more should have been revealed in the memories

It's a cool idea but somehow they wasted it on a fight with a few giants and a boss?

Is there no way to repair weapons and equipments before they break without using the repair dust whatever that you can get from the blacksmith? Cause he only sells 2 of them at most.

I didn't even fight any of the enemies in the [spoilers]memories, besides the one giant boss. They have so much HP and you're on a time limit. This part of the game felt really weird to me, like I was being rushed and the goal was to run past enemies without getting hit before time ran out[/spoiler]

The amount of hp that (late game)
vendrick
has is just absurd. Feels like NG+ difficulty.

You are supposed to
gather Souls of Giants from the memories; the more you have, the more Vendrick's defense drops.

I had 2 the first time I fought him and barely scratched him; got a third one and the damage was more significant.

I had spent the fourth one, and didn't want to mess with the alt boss to get the fifth one, so Vendrick lived on.

I think I have a problem with my game, in the pharros area, I already completed it, boss defeated and all and for some reason the enemies are frozen, they don't attack and I can't do any damage to them, game reset don't work. Is a bug in the game?.

I only had time limit problems in one memory,
the one with the Pharros stones; even with the boss I had time to calmly get there and spam lightning spear at his face. Then again it took me like ten tries before I found the place that isn't blanketed by explosions.

What? How are you supposed to know this?

Dark Souls, Bro! (I am gonna guess it's from the guide; I was told it here I think)

Huh. First boss for me,
Last Giant
, was wayyyyy too easy. I saw summon signs and messages with tips like "Weakness=Defeat" and I feared the worst.

How come nobody is invading? I walk around all day long in human form and nobody invades. Where you guys at? Come get some.

There's also a repair spell somewhere, but I think that's the only other way in addition to a bonfire. I've never had a weapon break before though. Never had enemies go "extinct" or whatever either, I'd never have even known that was a mechanic if I didn't visit GAF.

The further I get, the more I'm starting to hate the new features of Dark Souls 2 vs DeS and DaS. The limited respawns is really dampening my fun. I went heavy str and got a +7 mace, and have come to realize how much the mace moveset sucks in this compared to DeS where it was my favorite...so I'd like to switch to swords, except there is no way to farm up replacement titanite, since spawns poof.

The limited upgrade material at the start of the game can be a little aggravating - but this gets resolved as you progress and eventually get unlimited purchases from vendors.
Iron Keep - find a dull ember, and a black smith will give you unlimited large. Once you beat the final boss - a girl will sell unlimited small.

Similarly, I was an idiot and smashed the only chest with a token of spite in it after listening to a bad message. In NG+,
you can buy unlimited red eye orbs

Couple that with the terrible boss fights (
[belfry gargs, ruin sentinels, rats, etc
), I'm almost ready to just shelve the game completely. Demon's Souls was my favorite game on the PS3, and this just feels so lacking, and frustratingly difficult in all the wrong ways.

I thought those boss fights were pretty neat. I think my main complaint with some of the boss fights is while I think they have been consistently good/interesting - nothing has been a stand-out 'epic' encounter yet.

There are some acid baths in some areas that will break your shit right quick. Also smacking walls with swords will wear them out.

It sucks when a ring breaks from acid though, holy shit. That'll cost you over 10k souls to fix.

Edit: Shaded Ruins:
Found Ornifex (damn she creepy) and her workshop in Brightstone. Tempted to use my old souls but I feel I need to save them for later, what gives?

There's a sorcery that repairs (not broken equipment, tho).

It takes 16 int, so I dumbed it down a little to 12 int.

Aha this is interesting. I will go and look for the others then, didn't realise there was more than 3.

Gwyrm shield, the enemies in Pharros drop them, takes 32 strenght to use though, but it was a life saver against smelter demon. And yep, 100% physical as well.

Great, that's exactly what I needed.
Smelter's
weird ability to hit you even when you fully dodge one of his attacks makes dodging a less viable strategy than tanking him in this case.

I agree completely. I wish all the
memory
stuff was more optional like the painted world. A lot of it crap and the loading every time you enter made any death (or time up) even more painful.

Actually having a bit of trouble with Pursuer on my second character, a cleric, using the Heide sword. I've become way too used to the ADP on my other character. I keep getting clipped in the back.

Nope!

Just dodge into his right hand side. will whiff you every time. get 2 or 3 hits in and repeat.

Probably the easiest boss in the game... I died the first time against him and then decided to abandon the shield and just go two-handed on his ass.

You pretty much spam attack his left leg, take a step back when he tries to stomp you
and that's about it lol.

Anyone have any idea how the Boss souls upgrading works? What level do I have to get a weapon to before it will show the special weapons the Boss souls make?
