Solo or co-op?

If solo they congratulations. Hoe did you manage 2 of them at once?

Coop but only with one person. 3 people makes it too hard for the one on the platform. And don't stay on the platform. After. They do a stealth jump up that takes 1/2 health.keep them in front and not locked on. Maybe not the best advice but I finally ganked them.

LMFAO, mirror knight boss battle is NOTHING like what the demo was shown 3 month ago.

WTF happened?

You mean how
the phantom he summons is AI-controlled? The PvP element only comes into effect on NG+. Your first time through the game he just summons an NPC. On NG+ and onwards he'll summon other players.

can anyone tell me what happens if I kill that giant naked zombie king in the crypt ? You know where you get the kings ring.

Will that girl sell me rock chunks if I kill him ?

Sorry don't have the game in front of me to give proper names.

Oh and the design of
the demon song frog
was insane.

You'll get unlimited titanite chunks when you complete the game from the girl.

Can anyone tell me where and how far into the game I can find the first whip? Can't remember if I picked one up. I really wanna make a Castlevania cosplay run now that throwing knives and holy water(completely destroys most early to mid-game enemies O.o) are awesome.

Yeah I got them solo. Not difficult when you don't have to charge them
(used my staff for the entire fight)
.

I just couldn't get enough time between their attacks to cast my spells w/o getting smacked in the face when they did the jump attack. But now that I think about it, I took off the faster casting ring and put on blades ring b/c I was doing co/op and I wanted to test out how good the bastard sword was so that was probably my issue. Found them to be pretty easy in melee though.

Pretty sure the first one you can get is the Notched Whip in
Huntsman's Copse. It's on the way to the Executioner Chariot. Follow the ledge around to the corpse which has it just before the little passage into the area where the four tall guys are waiting to drop down and ambush you.

Anybody else feel like there's too many bonfires in the game? Seems that they're everywhere compared to DS1. Especially now that you can warp all the time

Alright, that doesn't too bad. Thanks!

I got one at about 10 minutes into the game, trading my Petrified something with the crows in the beggining area.

You can luck out and get an old whip (it's good) from the crows before that.

Sounds even better. I don't wanna go too far into the game with different weapons...thanks! I'll probably try over and over with the petrified something... :P

Yes...until you don't get one that you feel is necessary. It's a tough balance imo. I wish we had more shortcuts in this game so that a bonfire wasn't necessary I will admit that much.

You could easily get it within the first hour of the game if you rushed it, I imagine. Just go
straight to Heide's Tower and kill the Dragonrider, talk to the miracle seller and warp back to Majula, then pay the 2000 souls to enter the Copse with your Dragonrider slaying lucre. The only enemies in the Copse between you and it are a bunch of grunt hollows, one fat guy, and one tall guy. Return to the bonfire after retrieving it and proceed in whatever direction you please in your Belmont cosplay.

You can luck out and get an old whip (it's good) from the crows before that.

Ain't that a
Petrified Something
reward, though? Relying on the Smooth and Silky Siblings to cough one up when you've only got one chance at it seems awfully random.

Yeah I don't think just putting bonfires everywhere was the right choice. DS1 seemed to balance it better with actual shortcuts

I"m runnning into alot magic users that are too "passive" during boss fights when it comes to coop. I know it's not everyone but it's not that fun when the 2 hollows do the heavy lifting and the MU's are sitting back on weak spells not doing shit.

Like as if that soul arrow is going to do massive damage right now. You know damn well it's only taking off 34 damage lol.

People who think this game is easy, play on NG+ and come back to me. Thanks. These bosses that spawn with 2+ adds are fucking hair pulling.

I have both a +10 rapier and a +10 Buster Sword (forgot its name but its probably the most frequent ultra greatsword amongst co-opers/invaders so you know what I mean).

Question though, what stat on a staff/chime governs spell strength? is it just magic/lightning/dark attack?

Does corrosive break your equipped gear or your inventory? There is an item in (late game)
Drangleic Castle
that I want to get but not if it breaks my gear even if it is unequipped.

Acid only breaks equipped gear. Strip down to your skivvies and you can stand in pools of it with impunity.

Remember kids: always get naked before playing with acid. That's a protip for life.

I've been finding the game challenging but not especially hard for the most part. That changed when I threw bonfire acetic on Heide's Tower
I mentioned it in the thread earlier but it really made the area a lot more fun to play through. The added spawns made me rethink my strategies for the area. Just the added health on Dragonrider made the fight more challenging. I actually died twice to him.

Excellent, time for some therapeutic exfoliation in the name of loot, thanks!

Maybe you can't walk right back up the ledge, but I can't think of very many instances where there isn't some way to get back to that same area without a homeward bone. The first bonfire in Bastille is a very one though. I have no idea why they did that.
Yeah, there's always dying at worst and warping is usually an option before that if you're careful with your bones/spells, and even later in the game
you get an infinitely reusable feather as an alternative to the homeward bone
but it's just not something I like in design when it's not really necessary as part of the larger picture. That if, if you need to fall down a large pit then I wouldn't expect to be able to get back up, easily, but if I'm going through buildings and go down one knee high ledge that would keep me from backtracking to the prior area and with no alternatives, uhh, why?

I saw a message suggesting doing this for that area, did so and too late realized I forgot to take my rings off. That one was costly.

I'm making slow progress here and there, and I am getting my ass kicked alot. I know if it wasn't for my time spent in DS1, it would be alot tougher.

Just remember, you DS-vets may find the normal game easier than you'd like, but it's still doing this to everyone else;

Man some of these bosses are wrecking me like little else in DeS or DaS. But maybe I was too reliant on hired help, though it is nice how easy it is now to get people compared to the last game.

I honestly think it's harder than its predecessors even with the relatively abundant bonfires, and that's not taking NG+ into account. Even with some of the early cheese strategies that have been found like that one ring which shall not be named.

I basically made this mistake in reverse once: I took everything off to grab some acid-bathing items and after I left the acid I re-equipped my weapons and armor but neglected to put my rings back on.

For about a half an hour I was in terrible danger of inadvertently suffering actual consequences for dying.

The horror.

Question time!

1) I have a Roaring Halberd in my inventory. I'm playing a warrior. Is it worth pumping points into INT and Faith in order to use it? The ATK seems a bit low compared to other halberds.

Also, I want to get the Pyromancy thing going as well to get some more ranged options. How many points do I need to put into Attunement before I get a spell slot for it? And after I have enough stats to use the pyromancer flame, is it worth continuing to put points into INT to strengthen it? I feel like I'm spread a bit thin as it is (at SL91) with points going into STR, DEX, END, VIT and ADP. But whatever I'm doing seems to be working...

2) How do I get to the (area)
Grave of Saints
? I went down the hole, through the Pit and whatnot, now I'm in (area)
Black Gulch
. I need to go through here anyway, so whatever, but if I want to get to the aforementioned place, where do I go?

Yea, I am calling in Phantoms left and right. I tried the Ruined Sentinel 30 times before I finally went human and grabbed some help.

I agree. I'm having a way harder time with this one than the original. Although I feel so rewarded once I get somewhere, it's worth the punishment.

There's a few boss fights with more than one enemy and those can get pretty rough if you're solo. Summoning turns the game into a cakewalk though so I suppose it's pick your poison.
