Your answer:
Iron Keep, in a large room with a lever activated bridge and some tough enemies, including snipers

I see, thanks. I haven't gotten to that area yet. I keep unlocking more and more new areas and it's all getting really confusing lol I see stuff and go "oh yeah I'll come back there when I get that" and then completely forget where that was

Hmm, want to try a katana out. Is the Uchigatana or Blacksteel Katana better (or is there a better katana later on)? Have a 40 in Dex at the moment.

I have both. Uchi +7, BSK +6. I currently have 30 DEX, and the Uchi does 20 odd points higher damage. BSK has better DEX scaling so when both are at +10, BSK will be higher damage. But BSK is heavier.

Another katana:
a red phantom spawns randomly (1/10 chance) in Belfry Sol and can drop the Berserker Blade; I dunno its stats but I hear it's like the Chaos Blade in Dark Souls. And the Manslayer katana has lower damage but also does poison. I forget where it's located, but it's late game.

Been spanking you bellboys with my Blacksteel Katana, I use posin resin only because it looks like a lightsaber but that don't stop y'all from getting wrekt.
I love this game so much ;_;

Just beat the Smelter Demon. Lots of dodging/rolling.

I don't think there is any game that comes close to the satisfaction of beating a Boss like Dark Souls does.

Probably only Monster Hunter for me. All the time spent learning a monsters moveset and learning when to attack and dodge is key in both of these games.

Killing a monster in monster hunter isn't as satisfying because you know you need to grind that sucker for the dozen time in order for it to drop the part you need. ;_;

Not just the bosses, the Souls have an incredible ability to make you feel accomplished. It's why people love them. It makes you really feel like you've earned your rewards and progress.

Anyone else using Ring of Life Protection? That is such a gamer breaker, that i wonder how FROM thought it was a good idea to add it to the game.

Still using it, though. ;p

I did the iron keep and the shaded forest today. I played the doors of Pharos right up to the boss's fog door.
I deal with this royal rat authority business tomorrow.

I use it.

I love running around with 600k souls and always full health.

Warrior here, level 64
36 strength, 14 vit, 26 end, 11 dex

Using Club+1-

Should I keep upgrading that? Or no, am I gonna find a better weapon soon? Just feels weird since its a basic ass club I bought from one of the first vendors for 800 souls

Well, after more failures than I'd like to count, I finally managed to take down the Smelter Demon with the help of a few Sun Bros.

Gyrm Greatshield made a huge difference.

Was previously a lv 101 mix Sorcerer/Warrior for a while. Decided to redo my stats and make myself a full Sorcerer (For all of Soul Magic, Pyro, Miracles, etc). My character is obviously weaker now, and does less physical damage, but I really like the new result. Figured out that being a jack of all trades doesn't really work well in this game, not at least till NG+, since I'm still less then 1/2 through the game, makes more sense to focus on one area or so. Much larger health and 1-shot kill the guys in Iron Keep with my Lightning Spear.

I also decided to go after the "Desert Sorceress" armor set. Will fit my character nicely, plus I like the look :P Already have the hood & top, just need to get the skirt and gloves. This will leave me a little weaker then I am now, but will be much faster in my rolls as well as make it more challenging for fun. Will have to hunt those two remaining items, or perhaps trade something for them.

I'm now lv 120 and like 44ish hours into the game. Really enjoying this.

Spent 20 of my Red Eye Stones invading people, about 35% of the hosts either died or disconnected before I could load in and I get kicked back to me world. :(

Did basically the same thing today although I stopped right at the bonfire after the
scorpion boss
.

I've been following the guide's suggested route and I think it's safe to say I'm past the half way point although I still have no chance of finishing this before Infamous.

Carhillion will upgrade my pyromamcy flame... But I dont habre a pyro flame, did I miss something up till you first meet him? I thought he sold one

I think Soul Memory has finally bitten me in the butt.

I've been PVPing the past few nights at SL 120 with no problems, but I finally decided to complete some more late game PVE content. I've been spending any and all souls I've gotten from bosses and avoiding leveling up, opting instead to buy upgrade stones, arrows, armor, resin, etc.

I got back to my respective covenant for some more PVP since I'm closer to the end of the game than I was before, and I've only two matches over the course of 30 minutes (switching between matchmaking statues after awhile of waiting).

So lame. /:

you should get a feel of different weapons imo. I mean there is nothing wrong with sticking to the same weapon through the game but it's good to see what works with you and not.

For example I've dual wield the falchions for like 70 percent of the game and I just changed it up to the scythe recently just for something different. Buy some or play around with weapons and see what movesets fits you

My goodness pyromancy is awesome. Flame Swathe damage and AOE is incredible, although not sure how well it would work in pvp. Its been very effective thus far, but not sure how viable dodging out would be this early on while the game hasn't been out long. The AOE is very deceptive I think as damage is still incurred even when enemies are outside the ring of explosion. I know that lingering flame seems to be good for pvp, but the casting time on it is so long, don't think it would be all that effective except at the beginning of an encounter.

So where should I go from here? Continue on to
No Man's Wharf
or somewhere else? As a Paladin, I'm really interested in finding the
Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe
to replace my mace, is it possible for me to get this yet?
Anybody? Should I head to
Huntsman's Corpse
rather than proceeding through
Wharf
?

I feel like the most vanilla dude ever but I'm kicking ass in my upgraded elite knight armor and +7 mace.

Just wrecked
the gargoyles, scorpioness, and smelter demon
back-to-back solo. I'm doing a STR build but the mace is still my favorite weapon.

Also the game is getting much better as I play on.

Unpetrify the woman holding the switch in that path off of Majula. That leads to the Shaded Forest, where you'll find the Dragonslayer Crescent Axe.

You and I just got done doing the same thing in the same order with the same weapon. That said I'm str/faith with some miracles thrown in.

Cool, in that case I'll make my way to
Harvest Valley
first. Although I can't really complain about the mace, it has served me well thus far. I just feel like changing it up a bit.

I also just bought the lightning spear. Can't wait to try this sucker out once I pump a few more pts into faith.

that was kind of their design goal it seems. It's hard to get cracked eye orbs in new game, but they are available infinitely from a vendor in new game+. However NG+ players can't interact with people on their first run.

That's...actually what I wanted to hear. So it seems like the crazy invasions are going to be happening in NG +, once all the steady players get there. I can't wait. I'll probably just spam them for a while, ha ha.

Also, if that's true, then it seems maybe in NG + the Blue covenants may come into more use as well.

Hey guys, I need some late game help!

I'm seriously straight up lost.

I've obtained the 4 Old One's Souls and have literally no idea where to go now. Emerald Herald didn't help me. She was all "Go to the Castle!" and I'm all "Where the fuck is the castle?". Game isn't pushing me in any positive direction and the doors that are closed for the "symbol of the king" are locked as well. If I missed this ring when I should have obtained it then please point it out to me otherwise don't address the king doors, please!

I would prefer if someone answered me very generally because I would like to sort of discover things on my own but the game is literally giving me no hints at all now and I feel like I've searched everywhere.

I have a similar character and for PVP especially I'm enjoying the Lion Mage set, which gives casting speed bonus. No choice either, as the sorcs refused to drop the other set in Earthen.

what bothers you so much?

hit detection is atrocious so people use spells way more than DS1 PvP

I'm pretty much done with the game. PvP is what gives Souls long lasting appeal and I already beat NG+ and got bored with my sorcerer character. I'll be back for the PC version with hopefully fixed hitboxes. Disappointing, because I put like 250+ hours into DS1 PS3 but I'm pretty burned out here at 80 hours. One step forward, two steps back.

Walked into the Belfrey in ng+, was immediately invaded by two spirits. That familiar feeling . . .

The Defender's Greatsword is really good - buffed with the sunlight blade special or not, it kills other players in three or so hits. If I connect with the R2 (the claymore thrust, basically), the follow up will usually get me the win. Or in this case, a break as I run for the boss door.

Just killed the
Ancient Dragon
after almost 2 hours trying. Most satisfying victory feeling so far in the game.

Soul Level 159. STR/VIT/END build.

I had the same issue but go back to Shaded Woods, it is one of the branching paths in Ruined Fork Road.

Should i keep upgrading my Bastard Sword+4 till the end of the game, or should i just get a new weapon? I was thinking of using one of the bosses souls to create a new one. Any ideas?

Hey, quick question, maybe someone can help.

I got
all five Souls of a Giant
and have now
beaten Vendrick
. Can I
consume the Souls
now? I'm going to take a wild guess and estimate that
they probably don't carry over into New Game +
so it seems like it might be a good idea to do this now, unless
someone has found another use for them
or knows for a fact that
they actually do carry over to NG+
.

Thank you so much in advance for your time! I really appreciate any feedback regarding this.

I hate to quote my own post for the new page, but does anyone have any idea regarding this?

As a secondary weapon it is an excellent choice. I reached the end with a Bastard Sword +9 that dealt as much damage as a Zweihander +4 or some other Ultra Greatswords.

Based on the number of titanite chunks I have, I should only be 10 invasions away for the Bell Guardian's covenant's third rank... I'm sorry to all the 90 people I've killed in the Belfries. But your sacrifice wasn't in vain... I'm about to be decked out like a miniature gnome (only giant-sized).
