PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

Harder. My daily reward is 1000 stones.

There are 20 slots at the start.

Good, in the end of beta I had roughly 65 slots. And still it was not enough :P

Also few pics from beta. Have creature pics changed from beta?

I'm thinking of creating an UK account to use as my primary, because Sweden kinda sucks.
Is the UK store missing anything that's available in other European countries? I can use my Swedish card, right?

No, they look the same as before. I think by the end of the beta, I got 45 slots and that was enough for me since I fused spirits like madman. No one spirits was spared from me before since I know it's still in beta.

More Details:
-Starting number for friends is 10 max.
-15mins to revive a spirit.
-Max Collectible spirits +5 = 10 Destiny pts.

I want to upload pictures, but I am still on the office and I only play this during coffee breaks so maybe later.

Hmmm alien breed is on sale for 3.50. Does anyone have any impressions of it?

I picked this up as I used to love playing it on my friends Amiga back in the day.

I've only played through the first four levels of the game so far, but...

It's very 'old-school'. In essence, it's a top down shooter, where the objective of each floor is to get to a set destination, shooting what are essentially aliens and facehuggers (TM) en route, to set a bomb. Once the bomb is set, there is a countdown to get to the exit before it explodes. If you don't get out before it goes off, it's game over man, game over.

You can pick up ammo, money and keys. There are no puzzles to speak of, it's just a pure shooter.

You can purchase new weapons in the shop at any time (accessed from the pause menu), and once you've bought a gun, you can use it in future runs, even if you die straight after buying it.

The game has been given a visual and mechanical upgrade (but you can still play the original version if you want). The great thing about the new version is that you can use the right stick to shoot, making it a twin stick shooter.

There are also a load of new levels thrown in too, but again, the story is slim, and the levels are very, very samey. If that's ok with you (and it is for me), then go for it, but if you want depth along the lines of Hotline Miami, this won't push your buttons.

Steamworld Dig with cross buy and a PS+ discount?

Oh yeah. Superb deal, bought.

Still on the fence on Stealth Inc though, I kind of want to try it but it's £10.99 on the UK store and no PS+ discount :( That one might have to wait for a sale or quieter period.

It's far better than the modern Alien Breed Trilogy and there's a lot of content in the game, it's also CrossBuy/CrossSave with Vita version too. I've really enjoyed it but I know not everybody is happy to play older games like this.

I don't think you can use Swedish cards for the UK store.

At least here in Belgium you have to use BE cards specifically for the BE store.

Same in Finland, If I want to use 20e or 50e card for FIN store. I need to buy it from Finland.

Don't buy it, Alien Breed was really good on the Amiga but the new version is just plain bad.
Alien Breed was conceived with Amiga limitations in mind(8 direction joystick with 1 button) and it worked very well on it, the new version is modernized, has twin stick shooter controls, visible shots etc, it has too many bonus too, all things that make it too easy and destroy the feeling and the qualities of the original game.
For some reason even levels feel wrong and bad.
3d Alien Breed PS3 games are better imo, totally different from original Alien Breed games but at least the gameplay is conceived with modern controls in mind.

So... In the FF X (2) OT someone pointed out that Vita version was sub native resolution and "dodgy" framerate-wise.

Could someone confirm/dismiss please? I really want to play the Vita version primarily, as long as it's not a bonked version

It is not a "bonked version", don't worry.

Gonna repost this from another topic:

It's only very slightly subnative. It's nowhere near as bad as P4G and Uncharted. Very barely noticeable on the Vita itself unlike the screenshots you see. You'll usually notice it on the hair. I think they're using FXAA, while the PS3 version doesn't have any AA.

Framerate dips are rate, and like mentioned only with very big crowds (very early game spoiler)
(Yuna's first summoning)

The freezing in Luftrausers is just from taking damage - will take a few goes to get used to it but damn is it fun!

Die, up. Die, up. Love it.

Sorry Vlambeer.

Ok, Vita version it is then! (luftrausers too probably).

Is it possible in Alien Breed to get stuck? That is, unwinnable situations where you're out of keys and can't progress? Because I'm on level 2, out of keys, and can't progress. :(

Thanks.

Very, very, VERY good. Brilliant puzzle platformer.

On the 3rd of December choose the following answers when Yosuke asks you about your opinion
- Wait a second here...
- We're missing something.
- Namatame's true feelings.
- Something's been bothering me.

Edit: beaten...throw me into tv

I did too recently.
Reload and stall for time when given options, that's the best advise I can give without saying too much.
Just keep saying that something's missing and snap at them when you have the option
Edit: beaten, one of the only times I ever post in this thread too

I can only use Spanish cards for Spanish PS Store. See if Amazon.uk sells PSN codes (in US you can buy them and they send you the code to your email) and you can use the store using them. Paypal may work too.

Why don't you make a US account? 60$ is around 45€.

Don't
throw Namatame to the TV, dude, even if Nanako is a lovely girl and you didn't want her to die. It's a hard decision, I know XD

Edit: Game looks quite good. Does it use 2D backgrounds + 3D models?

You can shoot doors to destroy them, if you're out of keys.

Although I believe that not all guns can shoot down doors, so if you've upgraded, try going back to your starting gun.

Very, very, VERY good. Brilliant puzzle platformer.

I don't get how but it seems I purchased it a few months ago.
Maybe it was on sale.

Unless I'm mistaken, the PS Mobile version is the same, and cheaper.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Never tried the psm version but at the very least it doesn't have mp and trophies.

Edit: Oh I forgot. Game is cross-buy so you get PS3 version (with a second set of trophies :p ) if you buy Vita version

So yeah for this price, there is no reason to choose the ps mobile version over the vita version in my view

Same in Finland, If I want to use 20e or 50e card for FIN store. I need to buy it from Finland.
Huh, my Swedish card was accepted in the Finnish eShop before, but the PSN Stores are locked? That's disappointing.
Ah, I didn't mean prepaid cards, I meant my swedish Visa card.

And I don't know if I'd like to use an US account, since I prefer physical and I guess DLC and stuffs are region locked. But 60hz PS1 games would be sweet. Might think about it.

How is Superfrog HD? I remember playing the original as a youngster and loving it, though the memories are a bit fuzzy now. Is the game still good today? It's 3 bucks, so that's dirt cheap.

I have mixed feelings on it, it was without any doubt soooooooooooo good to play a platformer like that on an era where platformers with straight left to right levels and tons of gimmicks are the rule, but this version is definitely inferior to the original.

The original was awesome looking and had a good difficulty, the new one only looks from decent to good, lacks the project f section, and has some differences, IIRC:
-it has new levels added to the original levels, an endless runner mode and a level editor.
-the new levels are easier because you only have to find the exit before the time runs out(almost impossible, you have a lot of time), the original levels wants you to find the exit before the time runs out but after you found a big number of coins, later levels can be really hard(i wasn't able to finish some lol)
-the green ball attack in the original Amiga game was an aerial attack, in fact the default attack went front-up and it was futile against ground enemies, in the HD version the default attack is to front and can kill ground enemies, so everything is easier, but it a little harder to attack flying enemies, there's a point where you will die a lot of times in a late Egyptian original level for this reason.

Overall it was a good and very appreciated return to the past and imo a decent game but it's undeniably inferior to the original.
I really enjoyed it though and i would like more platformers like it, at that price i think you should not regret it.

I love it, honestly. It's tightened up and improved on the original in every way besides visually - the HD look is quite flat.

You can unlock the old levels quite easily, too - including the original music! Also, there's a level editor. :)

Ehh i couldn't get into it- too hardcore with those ultra big levels and traveling with vita and printed maps isn't for me.

If you were more trained(=you played more games like Superfrog, Amiga platformers where more or less all like that) you wouldn't need a map, but today's platformers with straight left to right maps are the rule, so i understand why you feel lost, but huge levels are absolutely not a fault, they are a huge good point, doesn't people complain because old FPSes and JRPGs maps where bigger and less linear?

Needs less Yuna.
Needs more Lulu.
I never beat FFX. But this is the truth. I was going to pick up the collection...and I did just clear out a few games in my backlog...I believe you all convinced me to buy it MUCH sooner than later. Though, I may buy South Park:TSOT first so I can get the comical RPG out of the way..

Dat portable RPG sleep mode goodness though...dam you vita..

Edit:

I'm surprised to see very little talk about Borderlands 2 around here. For as much talk as there was about the game before, once footage was shown at GDC, I was expecting a poo storm to be going on in here. I saw a little of the video, bits and pieces because I am at work, but it looked relatively ok from what tiny bit I saw. Yea long load times, but with a game that is as supposedly large as Borderlands (never played one of them, but I've heard they are big!) the loading doesn't seem too bad.

I wouldn't recommend it personally, though I've not played the series before.

Kids might like it for its simplicity, but you're better off getting something else IMO.
Like Steamworld Dig!
