Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

I can't afford a 3DS right now, and I'd rather wait for Z. Plus I'm determined to hold out for a US version silver and black or white and black 3DS. I don't like any of the currently available colors.

I forgot about challenge mode but it sounds enticing. I might have to find someone to offload a few Pokémon to so I can restart without losing 'em.

Hey man I'm just about finished with Black 2, just played it for the first time! Feel free to PM me about offloading some pokemon haha.

The reason we didn't go with Yellow is because it would have taken centuries to progress as we'd be checking how Pikachu was doing every 3 steps.

Pikachu would be the real devil speaking false words to us and trying to prevent us from progressing. The ledges and spin tiles are his familiars.

Since we're doing Emerald after completing Crystal, I'm kind of surprised the first run was Red and not Yellow.

It bugs me way more than it should that we used an original release and then started using thirdgames. This might sound insane to you but I feel the following would have been coherent paths:

Red - Gold - Ruby - Diamond - Black and Black 2 - X
Blue - Silver - Sapphire - Pearl - White and White 2 - Y
Yellow - Crystal - Emerald - Platinum - ?? - Z (if it ever comes out)

I really wish someone would tell me they'd also thought of this.

Diamond, Black 2, and X are the blue versions

Diamond, Black 2, and X are the blue versions

Nope, I agree with him

Bolded are 1st ones I got out of the two versions

Red, Gold, Ruby, FireRed(looking back prefer LG for some reason), Diamond, HeartGold, Black, Black 2, X

Blue, Silver, Saphirre, LeafGreen, Pearl, SoulSilver, White, White2, Y

Yellow(1st pokemon game despite being a 3rd gen. kid), Crystal, Emerald, Platinum

Oh, are we talking about which version choices we've played?

Blue/Yellow, Silver/Crystal, Emerald, FireRed, Platinum, SoulSilver, White(2), X

All my purchases:

Gen I - Red, Blue, Yellow
Gen II - Gold, Silver
Gen III - Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf Green
Gen IV - Pearl, HeartGold
Gen V - White, Black 2
Gen VI - Y

Blue (older brother started with Red, then gave me that when he got Yellow, then gave me that and his GBC when he finished because he'd just become too old for that :V)
Silver (neighbor friend)
FireRed (because lol Venusar, but later traded in FR [still regret that] and still have a friend's LeafGreen)
Emerald (friend)
Platinum (because DP were mehhhh)
SuperiorSilver
Black, Black 2
X (was Team Y all the way up until Mega Charizard :T)

Nope, I agree with him[/B]

Well you're wrong.

Primarily blue Pokemon with blue tones in the background and the ones that have coloring in their letters, those letters are blue

vs

Primarily red (or reddish in the case of Palkia) Pokemon with red tones in the background and the ones that have coloring in their letters, those letters are red. (Though to be fair, there's a good bit of dark blue in Y's background, but that's because he's in the sky.)

The "correct" order is essentially first / second mentioned.

Red and Blue
Gold and Silver
Ruby and Sapphire
Diamond and Pearl
Black and White
X and Y

So, the "first" versions are Red, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, Black, and X
and the "second" versions are Blue, Silver, Sapphire, Pearl, White, and Y

The "first" versions are also usually associated with the male protagonists and the "second" versions are associated with the female protagonists

Here's what I bought: [Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold] <- no clue where these are, Ruby, [FireRed] <- gave it to my friend, Diamond, Platinum, Black, Black 2, X

I went for all the blue covers so
blue, silver, sapphire, diamond, black(not blue but i got it cause my friend got white)+black2,X

Red, Silver, Sapphire, Diamond, Black, Black 2, Y will be forever and always the correct sequence.

Blue games > Red Games

Blastoise > Charizard

Lugia > Ho-oh

Kyogre > Groudon

Dialga > Palkia

Zekrom > Reshiram

Xerneas > Yveltal(ok this one can be contested)

It's simple math folks.

The downtime probably isn't helping TPP. I'd like to get started with Emerald right away.

Regarding game versions, the ones I got were Red, Gold, Sapphire, Diamond, Platinum, White, Black 2 and Y. The startes I chose on each were Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, Turtwig, Piplup, Snivy, Oshawott (didn't use since I did a mono-ghost run, though) and Froakie.

I always classed the Pokemon games to go:
Blue and Red
Gold and Silver
Sapphire and Ruby
Leaf Green and Fire Red
Pearl and Diamond
Heart Gold and Soul Silver
White and Black
White 2 and Black 2
Y and X

So pretty much the generally considered 'not as cool' cover Pokemon on the left, and the 'cooler' ones on the right. Black and White are a bit hard for this; black is obviously the colour people would class as being the better of the two, but White had Zekrom on it's cover.

Except Zekrom looked ugly as sin while Reshiram looked majestic. Black Kyurem was better than White Kyurem.

Red (I played Blue first though, but that was from my friend) -> Gold -> Ruby -> Diamond -> Black -> Black 2 -> X

Those are the main games I got, but I also have:
Blue, Sapphire, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, Soul Silver, White 2, and Y.

I know. I never managed got round to finishing the game/catching Zekrom, but my plan was to trade it for my sister's Reshiram as soon as I caught it. Other than not standing out on the box art it baffles me why they didn't just use Reshiram for White and Zekrom for Black.

I think there may have been a mystery gift that gave out the one from the opposite game, so I had a Reshiram anyway.

*Turns on computer. Checks Twitch stream to see if there's anything interesting happening*
"Twitchplayspokemon is playing Pokemon Emerald"

....and my heart skips a beat, thinking I missed the start that I could've sworn wasn't till tomorrow night. Then I see it's just looping through the title screen. Thanks for being a complete asshole streamer.

As for the which versions I played discussion...

Yellow (first video game ever!!!)>Silver>Crystal>Ruby>Fire Red>Sapphire>Emerald>Diamond>Pearl>Platinum>Soul Silver>White>Black 2>Y

Just to be clear, in gens 3 and 4, Ruby and Diamond were the ones I chose to buy, while Sapphire and Pearl were gifts from friends who stopped liking pokemon.

Blue, Silver and Ruby was my pkmn experience, (this last enjoyed only a bit, in those times I was oversaturated with Pokemon and left the saga until X/Y... makes me want a 3DS... :/)

Now with the stream... I replay (via emulator) those games... ah... it's so nostalgic... (beaten Red, actually halfway Crystal post E4)...
