Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Yeah the timing is way too suspicious though, unfortunately. This bug developing right when I go to switch to sunbros doubles the pain on my playthrough.
Yeah, I switch, HEY GUYS MAINTENANCE TIME, and now I can't lay summon signs down at all. Figures.

Meh, I saw the ending and beat all bosses but
Ancient Dragon
, I probably should just put the game down for awhile anyway.

Update my build...it works...and fucking works good. INT/FTH

My greater resonant soul is hitting for 2.1k regularly. It's incredibly incredibly strong. If anyone's interested in the stuff I'll be happy to share.

I have a question about the queen:

Does anything happen if you shoot her with magic or an arrow while she's sitting on her throne? I noticed she disappears after you kill her so I'm guessing it's not just an illusion, even though that area seemed a bit off to me. Can you even get over there at any point?

FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU!

TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!

*takes a seat*

I understand what it's like. I really do. The pain and suffering. The failed attempts at running to the boss room and being gangraped by mobs. The AOE fire attack that sucks the life right out of you. The running, oh, THE RUNNING. My strategy was to use a lordvessel to put my strength to 99 (overkill) and I used a Lightning Mastodon Greatsword +10 dealing 4 times the damage of my inferior Lightning Uchigatana +10. Doing more damage simply meant a shorter fight and less room to make a fatal error. I UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS, YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT JUST LIKE I DID!!! PLEASE BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! I'VE BEEN THERE.

I really really loved the story in this one, a real treat for DaS1 lore fans. Though I think the end cinematic is less "good" than DaS1, or at least I felt there was a better "closure" to the ends of DaS1.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but how is that possible? imo, the Souls series has always had bad endings with little to no closure. I still love the games and find the lore interesting, but usually I end up thinking "that's it?" when the credits start rolling. xD

Well, used a soul vessel to go int for a bit. 50 int, Soul Geyser with 14 simpleton's spices applied, and a +5 Magic Staff of Wisdom. Each cast took down
Old Iron King's
health by 20~25% or so. Soul Greatsword seems to hit for 1k on phantoms.

My brother is running a very similar build. He sent me a PVP vid over his phone today where he hit over 1k with soul greatsword and not even the full animation, like he cast it and it killed the guy in less than a second.

Good to see mage is still strong as fack.

Never once had an issue putting down a summoning sign and typically had no problem summoning people either. Sometimes I'd gave a "summon sign disappeared" notification when I tried to summon someone but it wouldn't take too long before more popped up. After downloading 1.02 and playing for a couple of hours, I can't do shit. Summon sign fails all the time and I haven't seen a single summoning sign appear since.
Same here.

Killed
Vendrick
wasn't too bad. Had a pretty good shield and was doing decent damage with just 4 giant souls. Can see how it can be a pain with other builds that can't tank him. Do I get anything else other than the trophy for beating him? I don't think I saw anything pop up.

You can snag his boss soul behind the locked door in the Shrine of Amana. You have to be human to open it up though.

A +10 Zweihander isn't as gloriously over powered as I had hoped it would be. I'm thinking of ditching it for a +10 great club or going back to my +4 Drangleic sword.
Looks cool at least.

Also, finally gotten to Drangleic Castle, got a Q:
Is there bonfire between the Shaded Woods (Fork in the Road) and the bonfire inside Drangleic Castle
?

I never got any trouble with the summoning after the update, I sunbro'd to max rank today. EU servers not as hammered, perhaps?

My summon sign worked earlier in the day, post-1.02 but doesn't work anymore. I just get an error message 30~ seconds after putting it down.

So did the patch change anything other than breaking summons?

So is there anywhere I can farm Twinkling Titanite, or is it just super-rare?

If you use the small summon stone and help your host you can farm smooth stones. If you drop those into the bird nest in Things Betwixt you have a chance at getting Twinkling. Petrified Something works too and has a better drop chance.

Did they really fuck up the online? My summon signs gets deleted and says Failed to Create Summon Sign. Timed out From Server.

Took a break from one boss and went to battle The D

as soon as I entered the battle area through the mist and no exaggeration I was dead after taking one step. Attacks were already primed when I entered and I couldn't dodge

Since I seem to be blowing up casters in area because they are not doing this in range battles with me. GUYS USE YOUR BINOCULARS TO AIM IN FIRST PERSON WITH YOUR SPELLS

kthx.

Best moment was tossing a lighting spear 10 meters ahead of a guy across the map and having him sprint into it :lol

One of the few bosses that I've needed to summon help. That thing was insane.

Summoning worked for me a few hours ago in the forest of giants, but hasn't been working all day in the lost Bastille (where I'm stuck on the boss of course). PS3 here as well.

Of course summoning breaks right as I use a bonfire ascetic... I just tried using an NPC, but it might not be sufficient this time around.

Step through the fog, instantly sprint around to the right.

The npc summon is great for tanking and destroying the little mobs.

Aww, too bad dual wielding curved greatswords gets you the slow-ass dual ultra greatsword moveset and not something special. On the plus side, dual wielding my +3 (early boss soul weapon) A

I remember when it was less than a million.

1st time I ever saw it, it was at ~2,000,000 and my jaw hit the floor. those first few days man, it was crazy.

also,

Do you lose rank in a covenant if you switch? I keep switching as I find new ones because I want to access their shops, learn gestures, ect. I always return to the Blue Sentinals tho. Wear your rings people!

So I'm kinda lost and I don't know where to go

I just killed the big ass spider boss and lit the 3rd special bonfire. I've beaten the Gutter and that skeleton in the dark room, now what?

Also I found Straid and started buying weapons like crazy only to realise seconds after that I was using all the boss souls. They don't have a better use than that, right?

Did today's update break summoning? Every time I try to put down a sign I get a "failed to create summon sign" error. This has never happened before today.

Fuck people who a) don't react to my bow gesture and b) who attack me during me bow gesture in duels. That'll getcha some asswhoppin'.

I was thinking about this earlier but you know who the
[Pursuer
reminded me of? The boss, Arma, from Demon's Crest. Something about his movement immediately brought me back to that classic.

Nope, you do not. And yes, people need to wear their rings more ><

Edit: OH! So thats the (boss)
Smelter Demon
...holy shit.

One of the reasons why big OTs on Gaf are useless.

Sorry if it's been covered, but I've been avoiding reading this thread too often because there is too much of an opportunity for spoliers, even when people are pretty good about using tags.

Forgot to share a funny invasion story. So apparently
Giant Tree Seeds
or whatever
turn enemies in the area against invaders.
So this guy invades me RIGHT WHEN I
make it to the Ancient Dragon boss room
, for those who know the hell that is this route, being invaded right when you finally make it is like a punch in the nuts. Anyway, so this dick tries to bait enemies against me, doesn't work. I KO some of them and get him real low when he uses a BS miracle and throws me towards the enemies I ran away from and they slaughter me.

Fair enough.

So I make the trek back to the boss room when this guy invades me AGAIN. So I say fuck it and use the
Giant Tree Seed
, I then watch as this guy tries to bait me into the enemies and at the last second (and likely to his sheer horror) they turn on him and slaughter the shit outta him.

Did the Warmup emote as he died in front of me. NOT BAD.

I think I have about 30 hours played. Just arrived at the Gutter. Game is getting better and better. Gotta take a break until sunday at least now.

Also for all the peple saying the bosses are easy, are you serious?

I'm having a lot of trouble with them (I'm especially looking at you
The Pursuer and Ruin Sentinels but also the *easier* ones).
While I would say I'm quite good at most games (perhaps I just suck at rpg's?)

I also found that fight absolutely infuriating. Here's how I did it in the end.

Went naked since his fire would one shot me and I didn't have the stamia to block it. Try get in front of him, staying fairly far away and you will bait his forwards flame attack which is the best opportunity to attack. When you see him lower his head charge towards his front foot to get some hits in. Go to which ever side has more space to run away into, don't get trapped on the edge of the arena. Don't run out your stamina hitting him so you are ready to sprint. Once you've got your hits in begin to walk away from him but keep his wing on screen. At this point he will usually do the dreaded AOE attack so the millisecond you see that wing starting to flap get the fuck out of there. When he lands again he will be facing you and you can bait him again. I was able to keep him in this loop for about 10 minutes which is what enabled me to finally beat him after about 40 attempts
.

God that fight is such bullshit. Good luck.
