Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I have all of these boss souls and I haven't unpetrified the guy who turns them into weapons. Other than the dragon rider that makes a bow (I use bows all the time) which should I just consume?

Sadly the bow is complete shit. It really is. From my experience it has half the attack speed of a simple short/longbow. Which would make sense, if the dragon rider bow would have more base damage ... which it doesn't.

Is it by design that so often I can't seem to sprint even though I have endurance? Is there some weird cooldown or something?

Will increasing my adaptability reduce the button lag? How did you guys compensate for the lag in the inputs? Or do I just have to proactively react things before they happen?

By accepting that you are playing a console game which has built in lag. Honestly, I've never before saw someone complaing about input lag in DS 1/2.

these 2 rings, wow at those requirements.

Illusory Ring of a Conqueror - Left hand weapon becomes invisible - Clear game without dying.
Illusory Ring of the Exalted - Right hand weapon becomes invisible - Clear game without resting at bonfire.
gg.

also, what does it mean that Dark Pyromancy Flame scales with hollowing?

The more hollow you are the more damage it does IIRC.

It is done.

Also, IMPORTANT note for trophy hunting (kinda spoilers):
Chancellor Wellagar in Drangelic Castle sells three spells that you'd normally have to acquire through insane amounts of covenant PvP. For Wellagar to sell these items, you have to be on NG++. Contrary to other sources, there are no other requirements. Just reach him on NG++. Happy hunting!

Where is a good place to use cracked blue eye orbs? Mine are always grayed out.

Gotta be away from bonfires sometimes. I've having great luck in
Dragon Shrine--although its porting me to Dragon Aeries usually
right now. Finally getting some decent PvP in. I think the issue is, there's barely any Cracked Red Eye Orbs in the game, so barely anyone is invading--at least until NG+.

.. and the more you die without turning back human the more you become hollow? What's the limit?

I think it can only take max of 50% of your total HP. I believe that's like 20+ deaths. I'd recommend everyone to get the Ring of Binding on first playthrough to limit that hollowness.

It is done.

Can you use bonfire Aescetics to simulate that level, or does it actually have to be NG++?

Bastard! Congrats

Maybe I phrased it wrong, but in DS1 the controls felt swift and direct. If I want to roll in the last minute, I roll. DS2 everything seems clunky and I kinda have to roll before I truly need to. It just seems clunky. It can't just be me - because I played the other games for a million hours lol.

It is done.

Is it that easy or not time consuming to be done so quickly? I don't look at the achievements, but surprised it's been done so fast. Well, it has been 9 days so who knows actually lol.

That's seriously impressive as hell. Congrats, bud.

Have you upped your adaptability? If not, do so. It's incredibly important.

Just beat two invaders at once at Belfry Luna. The first one was above the second set of stairs and he didn't want to come down. Then I saw someone else get summoned. Went downstairs, then came back up, and I attacked the second one who was down the second stairs before he reacted. I bum rushed him with my Uchi. Got a couple hits in and he was down to like 1/4 of his HP.

The other guy then decided to come down, and they were using sorceries. I went downstairs, and I saw the second guy ahead of me (guess he fell down a hole). Managed to quickly dispatch him with my Uchi, then I saw the first guy just kinda stand there for a sec downstairs too (I noticed he lad low HP for some reason). I ran behind the corner and healed up. Then I went back upstairs, and then the other guy followed. We strafed each other for a bit, but then he fell down a hole. He lost damage, then I finished him off with a jump attack. Epic lol.

Belfry Luna is far less laggy than Belfry Sol.

Quick question, and sorry if this has been covered already, but is anybody else not having success invading with the bell guardian covenant? Last week I was being pulled in to a new fight constantly.

I'm going to assume that you are still playing the same character. You are probably SL 1xx, while the guys in there are 60.

Also, MP servers are fucked up right now.

Holy fuck the
chariot
fight is intense in ng+. Looking forward to seeing how harder the easier ng bosses are.

ng+ feels a little disappointing otherwise so far. It's like their idea of "harder" is just "throw out a shitload of red phantoms and let rng sort it out."

Yeah, I finished the game then got about a third of the way through ng+ before sending it back to GameFly. Ng+ seemed identical except with extra mobs thrown in completely random places with no real forethought or consideration.

I have - will it make it feel more like DS1 after it's up considerably? What should I bring it up to?

If you're melee--I'd level it up along with your STR/DEX of choice. On a melee char I've had it up to 20+ and rolling felt so good...felt like you could dodge anything. I'm my hex guy I'm playing and PvPing with, I have it at 18 and it feels solid. Not as good as the 20+, but quite good.

I think it's a combination of your total % equipment load (of your max) combined with adaptability to give you those sweet/responsive rolls. I know what you mean though, it doesn't feel as crisp as DS1.

So, to use my final branch on a
dude blocking a chest
or to use it to get
a key
?

It's tearing me apart.

Are you in
the Shaded Woods? Because one of the petrified guys in that area is blocking a chest that has a caster armor set and another Fragrant Branch of Yore. If one of the ones you're thinking of is the guy in the little ruin area across from the two towers that lead up to the boss, he's the one. Unpetrify him first and open the chest for a new branch then use that one on the guy with the Fang Key.

I just killed
Glass/Mirror Knight

How far am i till the end? Cause if it's a lot, might wanna continue tomorrow.

Got mine to 38 and it feels like DS1 rolling. Able to dodge things even if I roll through them. I definitely think it adds invinc frames to your rolls the more ADP you have. A buddy of mine restarted as a deprived, and said he couldn't dodge pursuers attacks no matter how much he tried with ADP at base, even though he has that boss' attack patterns pretty memorized. ADP is definitely one of the MOST important stats to raise up first.

What this guy said is the correct answer.

Black Gulch boss. Anyone got any pointers?

Not to sound whiny, but I think this game completely misses the point of the first two games.

I also died quite a bit on him, but more so from rolling into the damn fire because I kept circle strafing him. Honestly I ended up killing him by not moving and standing right in front of him, and just rolling last second before each of his slow hits, and that worked for me.

Yeah I can do pretty well, but it's either the fire, the one hand slam, or the grab move. I'll dodge everything else, and then be set back big time by one of those somehow getting through.

I died a few times until I figured out the pattern. Stick behind his back, whack a way. When he does his three strike attack, roll right twice, and then the final roll left (toward his long swing). I just kept doing that and was able to down him. Obviously back away when he starts doing his inhale (I think) thing that blows outwards.

I didn't have any issues with him but I did see someone on a stream cut off his arm and he did shit damage after that so maybe give that a try.

About your pre edit post: I'm sorry but it's quite amusing to say that DS2 misses the point of prior games and then ask for advice with a boss like him. Just my view.

Ok, so, I think the only thing in this game I'm inclined to think is bullshit that I've encountered yet is taking ~1500 dmg from the cyclops hippo grab bite attack that has kinda crappy hit detection. I only have 1450 hp. Very annoying.

Anything they are weak to? Poison? Fire?

Whoa, didnt know that was possible. It seems that a lot of bosses have some sort of environmental/body tactic that end up making the fight easier. Like clearing the room of poison, or lighting the flames for Lost sinner.

No, it must be your third playthrough.

I think it came down to efficient play on NG+. My final play time was about 53 hours. NG took me about 43 hours and NG+ took me less than ten hours. I used a ver. 1.00 glitch to skip
Shrine of Winter
on NG++ because it wasn't opening despite me fulfilling the requirements (
3 million souls in inventory
- yes, I was livid when it didn't work).

Bows. They only follow you up to a certain point. Stand there and shoot 30 arrows into them.

Awesome, I'll try it. Not ready to start NG+ yet. Kind of like being able to warp w/e I want to put down my summons sign.

Will I be able to summon/get summoned more if I move on to NG+? SL 164 (don't flame me).
