Gotta keep in mind that the development processes for both games are two entirely different things.
I can't wipe away the memory of Sakurai's 2014 resolution. Every other game designer was making vague statements about what they wished to accomplished in future projects, and Masahiro was all "My goal is to finish Smash for Wii U and 3DS within 2014". Period. So I really think he's squeezing all energy he's got to deliver the game by the holidays.

I just gave up half through through the final season, such a shame because the show started really great.
On topic, I'm really hoping for something nice tonight, it's about time we got a veteran or a new Wii U stage.

Unless this is it. This is all the starter characters. Everything else is hidden and we won't see anything until Yoshi is revealed.
Also, Luigi, Sonic and Mega Man are all hidden characters too- but Sakurai logic says its OK to show only those three.
