Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

So... any opinions on who I should kill next?

I'm at the point where I can tackle the final hurdle and make my way to the ending, but I want to finish up a few optional bosses before then.

Right now I can face:
Darklurker
King Vendrick
Ancient Dragon

I think the first is the easiest of the three, but
having to pay a Human Effigy
to fight it could hurt me later. The third one is probably the hardest, but I think it would help if I killed it before tackling the second one given how my damage output on it so far is shit.

Yes you can, as long as you've
cleared each of the 3 portals once and lit the fires.

Thanks! I much prefer heading in at the one near the bonfire.

Thanks :) Do you know which bosses
Bernhart spawns at?

Hehe, i would be too. Kinda funny how he talks about skills if he also tried to lure you into fighting the enemies.

Is LS much harder on NG++ than NG+?

In NG+ it was just lost Sinner and i could manage the guy alone. He's just got more health and does more damage. In NG++ 2 fucking Black Phantom Pyromancers turn up halfway into the fight and start tossing Great Fireballs at you. I cannot see a way through without having to summon help, and help is in short supply at level 140, it seems :o

Can i skip the fucker completely? I already have his soul from NG+ ascetic :o

Man I do not enjoy the uchi in this game at all, I thought it would finally be a replacement to my falchion, but it's so slow. My falchion + stone ring is a poise breaking monster, uchi has not been nearly as successful vs. poise.

I actually felt the same, though I gave the Uchi a little more time and I got used to it.

I don't actually know but I would guess not - you have to light the primal bonfire.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere else in this thread, but Gaf's in-thread search isn't helping me.

I got the game yesterday and made it to the
Pursuer
, and he's beating me up pretty bad.

I think my main problem is that I only have half of my life available to me. Is there a way to raise that limiter to use my whole life bar?

What is a recommended level for killing him? I'm pretty sure I'm around level 28-30 now. I do about 120 damage per hit thanks to the
Heide sword
but two hits from him, and I go down.

Any other tips? Is there better armor out there than the
Falconer
equipment this early in the game. I haven't found anything, and that's the best I can seem to buy.

No, you can't skip any of the
Great Soul
fights even if you still have them in your inventory. Believe me, I tested it on both NG+ and NG++.

Either use a Human Effigy (which turns you to human and resets the health bar limit), or go back to Majula and take the opposite path into that other tunnel. It'll lead to Heide's Tower of Flame and it has a ring in the area that will help you.

You can use a Human Effigy item to go human and get all your health back. They are in relatively short supply.

Spoilers for a trick to beating this boss fight

You can use the Ballista behind him to knock off like 90% of his health.

Whenever I try to use the effigies at a bonfire, it tells me what I can't burn them. Did a miss something that allows it?

Black Knight Halberd is still god-tier. Brought a tier of joy to my eye when I found it. :)

Picked this baby up last night. It's so deadly. I must say I like DSII way more than one. The only thing I'm not liking is that enemies disappear after a set amount of times. Was tiring to get the bow and katana from the guys at the iron gate and now they are all gone.

Tips please? I melee only... Slowly starting FTH

Bring some gold pine resin and lower your equip load so you can fastroll. When they get too crowded run to the opposite side of the area.

After seeing that 2 hour speedrun and seeing that a naked dude is taking as much dmg from bosses as my full Havel dude, how does dmg calculate in this game? Armor useless?

Not sure if this has been asked but, it's a spoiler regarding items in Forest of Fallen Giants:
In the fiery room with the elevator down to the Last Giant...there appears to be some items on the floor of that room. However, I've never seen any way of accessing this room to access the items? If I jump down, it's too far and you die. I've finished the game FWIW.

There's a locked door down the elevator right outside the Last Giant boss room. For the life of me I can't remember what key opened it, but chances are you have it if you're at the end of the game.
Be careful in there. ;)

I've beat the game and trying to get platinum so are there any important things I should make sure I do before starting NG+? I think those NPCs that have to get through boss fights would have been easier in NG but that ship has sailed.

Haha, I do have that key...Iron Key I think (from Iron Keep)? I went in and grabbed the items in the first room, but the frog things were destroying me at the time so I just left. I take it there's a door to the fiery area then. Cheers, man

No idea how i'm going to progress, then :(

edit: OHHHH. I think i know what to do and why those cheeky cunts didn't show up in the NG+ fight.

Not sure how true this is, but I read somewhere that if you gain enough souls (1 million?) the kings gate will open regardless of how many great souls you have.

I got invaded yesterday. I did three attacks and the guy fell off a cliff. lol

That tower shield is something man. I am doing a strength build. NG+ I will probably try a faith build since I've never done that in any of the Souls games.

Yay, just beat the A
ncient
D
ragon
! Took about an hour or so to get him down. The most frustrating part of the experience was just running back to the boss room after each death. Hate all those enemies, lol.

She's supposed to have the pyromancers with her in NG+ aswell. So I guess they either only appear when you go to NG+ itself (without using a bonfire ascetic) or there's some way to stop them from appearing

If you haven't already, you can use a Bonfire Ascetic to
respawn the bosses AND the NPC's (Benhart and Lucatiel) to try again.

Also

MAKE SURE you clear out all merchants of spells/miracles/hexes/pyromancies. I made the mistake of forgetting to check what hexes I had and had to re-enter the Abyss covenant again in NG+. So if you're going for efficiency, make sure you have all the possible magic you can get via vendors.

Other than that, there aren't many tricky trophies to get, I was surprised at the ease in which I got the platinum in comparison to the other games.

Not sure how true this is, but I read somewhere that if you gain enough souls (1 million?) the kings gate will open regardless of how many great souls you have.

Now that you mention it, I've read some comments about this too. But it apparently has to be souls on hand, not soul memory, and the required amount increases with every playthrough. In NG++ I had over 9 million soul memory and the
Shrine of Winter
wouldn't open even with
3 out of 4 Great Souls
from my current playthrough. Maybe it's a combination of different factors, but I don't think anyone has deduced the formula yet.

yeh that's what i thought. Will try it whenever i find a fragrant log of turd. Looks like the minimum confirmed so far is Old King's Soul and 1 million souls. Easily obtained.

I went their early and had about 3 of the 4(or 5) of the souls. firekeeper told me that I could go on but whatever happened to me was a fate worse then death

I wait for at least 10 minutes (this one instance, I've been waiting for about the same several times already today) to get a summon sign I can use to sumon help. I finally get two allies and enter the boss room and die almost instantly.

This game has fucking horrrrrrendously bad matchmaking or whatever the piss poor excuse is they use.

lol?

Just one shot D
arklurker.

I actually switched my monitor away from the PS3 port after finishing the third Dark Chasm to my computer to check something and came back to the D
arklurker
fight already starting and me at half health. Came back and won it.

I dont think its the matchmaking as much as it is newer players getting summoned. Although I have had more trouble connecting lately.

Everytime I summon, they dont follow me, they instead stay back and fight every enemy that comes at them. Example, going to the lost sinner. You can easily run by every enemy in that water room, yet, all the summons love to fight all of them.

facepalm

Guys, I'm becoming one with my furry friends. We attack in packs and overwhelm any who dare cross us. *twitches imaginary whiskers*

endgame? can i safely go into D
rangleic Castle without beating the game? i just don't want to beat in on accident. thanks.

this game doesn't kick you into NG+ the way the previous games did. Also, getting to Drangleic Castle is the very start of the end game, there's still a ton of stuff to do.

I love reading about how useless ADP is right after putting a bunch of levels into it.

Had a feeling it would be. That's why I chose cleric for my faith build over knight - worst case scenario the stat is useful and I've got some catching up to do, best case I have less points wasted in a pointless stat.

I'm not going to echo the sentiment that adaptability is as useless as resistance, but my soul levels are precious, dammit!

You get more souls that way. Now if they are dying to those enemies, then, yeah, facepalm.jpg
