No. Other M takes place directly after Super Metroid, which in turn takes place directly after Metroid II. The Primes are in between Metroid I and II. Sakamoto just decided to ignore the story of those popular games because he wasn't involved with them.

Prime games were made to be self contained stories in the first place that wasent suppose to interfere with the main storyline, they're canon btw, but it doesnt matter because they arent suppose to be something to focus on when it came to the main games.

I seriously never get tired of watching the Smash website and see each character's pics. I'm very happy Sakurai decided for a more vivid/colorful/stylized art direction this time rather than the realistic pattern they used on Brawl. SSB4 is way more colorfoul/pleasant to look at than Brawl IMO. I can't freaking imagine how awesome is going to look running at 60 fps.

A brand new Metroid game that combines the gameplay of the 3D and 2D titles into a cohesive whole? A game that delves into Samus' backstory, something not yet particularly touched upon outside of that one

Toooooo bad what we got was hardly a Metroid game and practically made a point of marring every Metroid concept it could get its claws on. Oh, and it was sexist as hell to boot, which was a lot of fun.
