Man, keeping the NPCs alive at a bossfight can be a challenge in itself. I'm not on
The Lost Sinner NG+ now (actually NG++ since i used a Bonfire Aestic in that area unfortunately, not thinking that it would affect the boss), and i try to keep Lucatiel alive, but even with another human player, that isnt easy (i need to do that for a trophy). Especially not with the two pyromancers spawning. Do these spawn all the time by the way, or do they go away like normal enemies after 10 kills or so?

I can also imagine that spawning Bernhart at the Freja fight will be pretty difficult. I imagine that the NPC would suck at avoiding the laser beam.

Redeye Ring
is pretty much a must here.

For Bernhart, the easiest way to do it is at the
Prowling Magus and Congregation
, I did that twice and once in
Freja
, which is pretty easy to keep him alive if you kill her fast enough.

What did you pull?
The switch that frees Navaan the Royal Sorcerer from his cell in Aldia's Keep (I think that's the name of the place). He invades you multiple times after doing so. He warns you not to, and the switch to releasing him has like 30 messages saying "pull back" and a final one before the switch saying "Don't you dare"
I pulled it after the Devs warned me

lol, mfw as well

lol I did this as well.
but I killed that douchebag right after

I pulled it after the Devs warned me

When I saw all those messages I was like "Okay won't pull!". Then I noticed they weren't rated...so they were placed there by devs...to which I got realllllly curious.

Still didn't pull that thing...almost...glad I didn't

if VTMB taught me anything, it's that don't open it will make me open it more than anything else.

I do suggest pulling it like I did, because the consequences are pretty interesting and not all that strenuous. Also you want to do this in NG, not NG+.

360 = better framerate, some screentearing
PS3 = worse framerate, no screentearing

Thanks! I think framerate is probably more important to me... depends on how bad both of the issues are. Anyone who's played both versions has a recommendation? I have to admit it'd be a bit weird for me to play a Souls game on 360... so if both are equally recommendable I'll probably go with PS3.

You can do the same boss fight 3 times to get it.
I've heard about that, but i'm not sure if it was confirmed to work with all NPCs? I'm scared that the trophy wont pop :) I could technically skip
The Lost Sinner with Lucatiel, because i have already done Flexile Sentry and Smelter Demon with her, and hoping that its easier to keep her alive at The Rotten boss.

That might a smart thing to do indeed, i didnt think about that. I will try that, thanks )

Does this method work for Lucatiel as well?

Ah ok. I was actually thinking about that, but i wasnt sure what he ment with that the Devs warned him. I never tried to pull that switch myself.

Is it worth it to get the golem's torches lit in the room next to the first bonfire in D
rangleic
C
astle
? I accidentally freed all the Ruin Sentinals, so now this place is a special kind of hell. I did manage to kill one near one of the golems, but I'm having trouble getting the other torch lit. What will it do?

I'm going to mess around for a bit before hoping into NG+, but I want to try to run a sorcerer on a new character as well. Just for a change of pace.

You may want to read this to save yourself some grief:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/693331-dark-souls-ii/68849459

One caveat being that you can actually get the Lizard (A Magic scaling) staff in the same area that you can get the Sunset. It's just nowhere near as obvious, and requires quite a bit of luck and redos.

I have 100 hours played and let me tell you ...
I have no clue

I too freed them all before and spend like an hour on this.

Yeah, you can do The R
otten
again with an ascetic if you want.
Maybe i'll skip
The Lost Sinner
if it gets too hard. Does that technique only work with
The Rotten
or does it work with other bosses as well? I have to ask to be 100% sure :) By the way, speaking of this, what happends if i beat
The Lost Sinner (then i have beaten 3 bosses with Lucatiel) and talk to her in Black Gulch? Will i get the trophy then? Or do i have to talk to her in Alida's Keep to get it?

wow I cant believe the difference between luna and sol now. Luna is campers some with whites even, how they got in is a mystery unless the white was wearing ring, but I have recorded video of summon signs in there as well when I was human and exploring the first time.

Anyway, if you want a chunk best to wear your ring closer to sol.

It works with any boss you can summon her in, and you have to talk to her in
Aldia's Keep
, make sure you don't talk to her there if you haven't done the 3 bosses yet or she'll dissapear until the next playthrough.

Just started a second character, a Sorceror. Thinking of going to Heide's first because I prefer the area more. What equipment should I use on the outset and where can I find more/good spells?

Anyone? I'm doing 83 damage per Soul Arrow on the iron knights at Heide's right now and it is taking so many uses, could really use some help since I never paid much attention to magic during my first playthrough.

Get a mace. I think you need about six strength to two hand it? Just rely on that until you finish Heide's, at which point you can head to Huntsman's Copse to grab some hexes.

You can allways backup your save files if you are "paranoid" about missing something. But yes, it should work. She moves one "spot" up. This means that you can't do the 3 time trick if she allready stands on her last spot.

Yeah, the campers in Luna are kinda annoying. Same issue I have with the Rat areas with only 1 spawn.

For the 360, technically speaking a lot of frames get torn so to speak but honestly, it's the smoothest I've ever seen framerates around 40-50 which is usually a terrible judderfest.

Don't listen to this man. There's a questline that can only be done if you don't pull the switch.
Said questline gives you a fireball greater than chaos fireball, and a sorcery that requires 52 intelligence. Then he becomes a shopkeeper. Next spoiler is giving details on what the quest is.

Talk to him in his cell. He wants you to murder people and bring back proof(You keep the proof, you just have to show it to him). You can get all the proof without murdering anyone.

It sucks, but you're better off rerolling a Cleric and going the Hexer route. You'll still be able to use Sorceries, and they will be slightly stronger than if you were going pure INT. The downside is that you'll have to stall playing as a "caster" for a handful of levels initially.

If you're grabing the Silver Serpent +1 ring as soon as you can, leveling is quite a bit faster. Oh, and Clerics start with maces. :P

To get the Sunset Staff and access to Hexes early, you have to:
Have at least 8 INT and 8 FA and speak to Felkin (the NPC sitting in the chair around the first bonfire in Huntsman's Copse). Once you have 20 INT and 20 FA, you can talk to him until he gives you the Hexer set and the Sunset Staff. The staff itself requires 22 INT and 18 FA to wield.

You can allways backup your save files if you are "paranoid" about missing something. But yes, it should work. She moves one "spot" up. This means that you can't do the 3 time trick if she allready stands on her last spot.
Pretty sure it's not possible to backup your save. Could be wrong though.

Thanks to the both of you :) So since i have spoken to her in
No Man's Wharf and Lost Bastille, she should be in Black Gulch now. Does that mean that the Bonfire Aestic trick will only work in Black Gulch? If i beat The Rotten, doesnt she automatically move to Alida's Keep then? Or how does that work?

Yeah, backup of the savegame works indeed :) Its a bit pity that i have to wait 24 hours before i can download the backup from PS+ though, and it doesnt work to take a backup to a USB stick (probably to stop hacking attempts).

Easier to land flame swathe in Luna though!

Damn.

Maybe I'll just wait until NG++...

But I have a feeling I'll never reach that point.

Would it make THAT much of an improvement? I haven't gotten that far and I guess I wouldn't be too mad about having to redo a second character.

It takes around 2-3 hours max to reach a good point. Earlier if you decide to pick a Cleric and just up your FA to 22 first, since it will allow you to toss around Lightning Spears after clearing Heide's. Also, if you upgrade the Cleric's starting mace twice, it can kill most any of the knights in three hits when two-handing it.

I'm sorry but most of this is only half true
I'll give a better answer once I'm back at my pc. Or someone else will.

Hrm, might not be too bad.

Where do you get Lightning Spears at?

You can use him as a shopkeeper if you are in human form.

Ugh,
Shrine of Amana
has one of the most annoying places in the game so far.

Towards the a fog wall (I'm asuming before a boss) there are 2 mages spamming their damn magic projectiles. It's hard enough to get close with all the water and then while you try to hit one of them 2 melee fighters will come to attack you while the other mage keeps spamming magic. It's really hard to evade the melee enemies plus the magic spam when there is water.
You can't snipe them either because they are too far away to lock on and by the time you manually aim there are already 2 magic projectiles in your face.

And I hate those small enemies that come from under the water. The hit detection for small enemies is horrible. You hit them once and then seccond time will allways fail despite the fact that they are in the exact same place.

The place itself looks awesome though

I don't know with Lucatiel, but with the other guy I did 2/3 bosses with him waiting in the last spot he appears, so I think that as long as you don't talk to her in Aldia's Keep you're fine.

LOL i got invaded by one of the assholes of the covenant that hunts down invaders and she one shot me with a dark hex at FULL HEALTH!. In other words hexes are op as fuck.

You have to
kill an enemy right next to the golem. The golem will absorb its souls and ignite the torch. The same concept is used to open the front doors of the castle. I'm not sure if any enemy will do in this room of if it has to be a Ruin Sentinel
