100K is a good chunk, but it's really nothing to worry about.
From what I've read, soul memory is tossed out the window in NG+ and above. Also, I was still being summoned for co-op at 140-160 very quickly during NG.

Took me 2 deaths before i realised mind. if you were pure melee he'd be easily the hardest boss.
You spend most of the time running around.

pop a soul vessel, respec to a caster, win the fight in 30 seconds.
I had a STR build aswell. Died as much as you. Beat him yesterday. Here are my tips;
Use the Souther Ritual Band +1, get a Pyro Glove, upgrade it to +10. Then get Flame Swathe aswell as Chaos Storm. (This one is tricky and in Iron Keep.)
Use no armor so you can roll through everything. Flame Swathe his ass two times. Then go in for two Chaos Storms. Timing is crucial as you can be stuck in animation.

I saw someone using it in the offhand to get opening attacks to lead into his Greatsword attack. Seemed to work out well. People just didn't expect it to come out so fast I guess.
Ah sounds good, but fuck, after trying out the twin blade for the love of the move set I quit because of the low damage as well. Just not worth it.
Or has anyone a +10 twin blade?

At this point in the game you probably have a few Soul Vessels. Unless you were one of those crazies that killed all the old fire keepers immediately you can just respec, possibly back and forth quickly though I think it's good having at least a few spell slots available.
EDIT: Or you could have killed him literally minutes before I posted. Well, that works pretty well too.

Gotta say guys I'm loving this game...just got addicted to the Ricard's rapier (never used rapiers before as I thought they were too linear) as it mowed down the old iron king for me today.... I think I got 5 stabs in just one slam punish, and each stab did 250....that's 1250 in one go....and my dex is only 26.......it takes some practice, but I dead angled into this horns after a dodge, and then finished him off with a poke to his face. I keep trading it out but keep coming back. Am I the only one that find the katanas this round to be slow and heavy? Still uploading so will share later.

That was hardly just any
frog. Thing had a creepy giant skeleton-demon living inside of it and would swat at you with arms protruding out of its mouth.
It's just the sort of unsettling and evocative enemy design I love from the series. Wish there had been a lot more of that. Also, great boss name.
I pretty much shit bricks when the fog dissipated as I entered the room. One of my favorite moments in the game... walked into the fight blind and had no idea. It actually took a moment to register lol. Very cool.
