If you can't take them there, just go back down the ladder and they'll follow you.

Tried that. They don't activate until you get off the ladder, and by the time I can get back on the ladder I'm already spear shishkebab. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this when I've conquered nearly the entire rest of the game. Oh well.

How do you get from
Shrine of Amana
to
Undead Crypt
? I think I missed it. I already defeated the
frog
.

There's a second exit in the boss cave. It's kind of hard to see but it's on the same side as the way you come in.

Alright. I'm starting to have to think about my stats more so I was gonna come here for advice. Level 87, focusing on a strength/dex build.

Advice?

You could throw some points in ATN, gives you some decent stats and you could holster a few pyromancy spells.

VGR - 22
END - 21
VIT - 20
ATN - 10
STR - 32
DEX - 20
ADP - 5
INT - 5
FTH - 5

Advice?

I'd put a few points into ADP so you can chug Estus quicker. May not need it for dodging with this build but the item use speed really helps.

How many points should go into ADP for maximum effectiveness? I've got something like 18-20 at the moment. Is it worth putting more in, or diminishing returns and all that?

People that leave fucking messages to close to fake walls

Good idea. I should probably go get the Pyromancy flame first. -.-

How many do you think I should drop? Maybe get it to 10?

I say don't bring it past 10. I still think ADP is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I had a very high ADP on my first build.... then respecced.. Noticed a *slight* decrease in chugging estuses... not worth the 30 points I had in it though.

I guess people have corrected you a bit on the Benhardt bit, that isn't totally accurate. Another thing I wanted to add though, is that
if you've already killed a boss without completing their "survival" requirement, you can use a bonfire ascentic to try again on the same playthrough. Also there is no "order" for Lucatiel, she'll appear in any of those locations in any order. For example, on NG+ my first fight I called her in was the Black Gulch/Rotten boss. And one last tip to anyone going for those achievements...you can buy the Redeye ring from the cat in Majula to have enemies aggro you if your NPCs are being stupid and dying too easily.

It is accurate, it may not be the only way to do it but it is one of them and probably the most natural progression through the areas for most people

I brought mine up to 12 and was pretty satisfied with it there up until I got to SL120. I just increased it to 14 and only noticed a slight difference in estus chugging and nothing appreciable in my roll, so I doubt I'll take it any higher than that.

Just look at the agility stat, and get it up to 100 or so if you rely on dodging. You can get there with a mixture of attunement and adp - 20/20 will work.

Pure melee build still viable pvp wise?

In darksouls I used to go either strength or dex and min max for light rolls and high hp. I did use pyromancy but only because there was no need to give up stats for it.

I agree but it isn't the case with the Greatsword (and probably many other weapons). One of the great benefits of going elemental is to troll PvP players who love to block. 200+ dmg through a shield is no joke lol. Here is the breakdown:

My Greatsword +10 with 40 STR I was doing 400base and ~150 from the scaling for a total of 550 DMG. With the flame buff I would do 50 fire and additional 30% fire dmg for a total of 615dmg.

Now the Flame Greatsword +10 I am doing 280phys, 280 fire with ~60 phys and 20 Fire from scaling = total 640 damage. So at FIRE +10 we are already doing more damage than the physical build WITH buff. Now we add the buff :)

With the Flame Weapon buff, we add 50 fire dmg and 30% increase to fire damage. We are at 340 Phys and 455 Fire damage. For a total of 795 one handed damage :) Like I said, it does 200DMG on block :)

PS. Screw the Crypt Blacksword -- I'll take longer range and less stamina consumption with equivalent damage.

Wow totally trying this!

Also, thanks to ponpon for explaining infusing.

No Mans Wharf
is ruining my life. Am I alone in this? Lost 33,000 souls going from the bonfire
to the ship entrance
... I feel like this should be easy but it's kicking my ass.

I had no idea about those NPC questlines, in fact I totally forgot about the ability to summon NPCs until
Manscorpion Turk, who made it very obvious in his dialogue that he wanted to be a part of killing Najka.

Even after that I still kind of forgot about it, didn't really care too much. I think it's because I play as undead 99% of the time, only going human when being half-health during bosses is holding me back. That's one more thing to enjoy on NG+ I suppose.

I found that due to the nature of the level, you wind up losing a lot of durability making it from one end to another. Any time you get nervous about what is coming up next, drop a mini-sign and help someone else get further, and come out with full Estus (I think? Or is this only full-sign?) and durability!

Gotta say, I enjoyed the Bell Covenant a lot more when players were new to the game and weren't camping the spawn points with prepared spells and killing me before I even have a chance to dodge.

Why does
Velstadt's
soul have a different appearance in the item menu than other souls? It's neither a normal boss soul or a great soul. It looks all black and shriveled.

There was a fucking message in front of Grave Warden Agdayne saying there's an illusory wall behind him and I should whack him.

Was I tricked or am I missing something obvious here?

Also my new goal is to forge his awesome sword.

It's usually a worse idea in cases like that. A scaling + 40 STR is pretty good. The problem with going fire or lightning is that 1. it splits the damage 2. the scaling 'might' drop from A to something lower and 3. fire and lightning scale with other stats in this game.

For a 'pure str' weapon it's not that recommended. I made my Crypt Blacksword 'dark' because I didn't care about the Str scaling and the dark scaling went up to S so it ends up doing more damage. I made Throne Defenders sword into Lightning because it's on a Faith build and the sword gains an S scaling in lightning damage (which scales with Faith) so it ends up doing more.

Ah, sorry, haven't tried either haha. Possibly no.

Torch golems + all the doors in that room work the same way, but it's easier to activate those I guess.

Someone asked for this. Just got my Pursuer's Greatsword. What about infusing that? ;)

Tricked. You open illusory walls by pressing a/x beside them in the game.

Hold on a second. Did I really collect these 4 greater souls just to
open this door to the shrine when anyone could have just climbed the 3 feet of elevated ground and circle around the shrine? Or crawl through the rubble at the destroyed gate towards the castle?

DS2, you so game-y.

Oh my god my PS3 just died. Help. How likely is it that we'll get a PS4 version?

I really don't want to buy a console for one game.

Okay...I have no attunement slots....why is that? Can you tell I don't use magic at all?
You need to level up "ATN" to at least level 10. Then you get 1 slot. At level 13 you get two slots, at level 16 you get three slots (not sure how much more you get after this since my ATN level is only at 16, but i have 3 slots).

Man, the Belfry areas are annoying as hell. Can't play for a minute before being invaded by 1 and often 2 guys at the same time. Is there anyway to avoid this, without disconnecting from the internet. I don't mind the occasional invasion, but constant invasions and often by more than 1 invader are just frustrating.

pull the cord or log out of PSN/live or just don't be inside those areas for a long period of time
