Out of curiousity, which bosses are you thinking of? Maybe the bosses doesnt tie directly into the main story (which is very simple/spotty, in my opinion), but i think that they all tie into the lore.
I dont know why it doesnt work there. I couldnt put down my white soap stone in
Drangleic Castle
When I got that bug I just had to exit to title screen and reload for it to be resolved.

Whats the summon penalty?
If a previous co-op failed you need to return to the main menu and then re-enter the game.
I get this white soapstone symbol is in my status bar and Bone of Order doesn't work. I even killed my last invader. I dunno what I did wrong.
Sometimes that's an indicator of an incoming invader far in advance of the text warning actually showing up on your screen. Some areas it's off limits completely I've noticed.

You also get that when you burn effigies in the bonfire. did you accidentally do that?
Tried it. Nope. Symbol is still there.
I did but it was in the belfry bonfire and I thought Bone of Order reversed that.

It's a timed status which can't be reversed I think. Bone of order has nothing to do with it.
Keep trying. It's fickle sometimes. Sometimes it takes me 3 retries to get the summoning to work again.

PTS gesture is so lame. Looks like a stretching yawn. I doubt very much anyone loves it, they should change it to something better.
Lame. Didn't even protect me from grey invaders. Last time I burn an effigy.

I might be mistaken, but i think that the Bone of Order is only used if you get "banned". If you disconnect too many times, you will get a message that says that you have done too many 'illegal disconnects' and that you cant be summoned or do any summoning, and only a Bone of Order will fix that.

roll right through his fire attack if you time it right. Invincibility frames with high ADP ftw.

Is there any way to beat the
? He constantly spams his fire attacks. i can't defend or run away because instantly afterwards he uses his lazer beam to knock me into the lava. This boss fight sucks ass. Tiny arena and lava everywhere, and all his attacks knock you off into the lava or burn you to death?

Did you join that champion covenant? I did that once and it took me longer than it should to realize why I couldn't summon.
I've also had to quit and reload when not able I use my white soapstone.
You can
flip between his fire breaths or block them. Once you are in melee range you just have to dodge him like a champ and you can finish him. Easy peasy boss.
By the way, if bone of order works only 'bans' and not human effigy burns than that is straight up bullshit. One is supposed to be tactical the other is a punishment. Not the other way around :-|
And no, didn't join the Champion Covenant. I already know its effects.

I dodge his atttacks. I tried blocking those fire attacks and they still kill me. Am I doing something wrong? I dodge all his attacks, but, the fire breath attacks are BS and kill me everytime. Roll? Nope still get killed.

I think I'm going to use Ascetic just to make enemies harder.
I've had a few fun invasions recently.
A few in Heide's Tower of Flame: Went in as an arbiter spirit and hid in the large room with a whole bunch of knights. Suddenly, a black phantom comes in and we fight it out, all the while thinking "We both want the same thing! Let's just murder/bring justice on this guy together!" End up getting killed and I'm assuming this guy goes on to kill the master.
Invade the same area again, and the dude waits at the bonfire. I was thinking he was waiting for me to come to him so I hang out behind the door watching his move. He stands there, so I headshot him with a magic arrow from my dragonrider bow and he still refuses to move. Finally, a Sunbro with an ultra greatsword comes in and they start making their way along. Sunbro must not know that his jolly buddy here is a world invading heathen in need of some justice. They encounter the first giant knight and right away the host takes 50% damage from his club. Sunbro is attacking from behind so I run at them convinced he can't see me, especially if he's locked on. Backstab him, then Giant finishes him off. I focus on my target and he strikes with DOUBLE POISON WHIPS. I shrug off everything but the poison and take some health off of him before he's hit by a wayward giant swing and killed.
Later, I get sent to Lost Bastille and I spawn right behind someone. While he's busy killing a soldier I pop in and backstab him. Entire invasion had to have lasted less than thirty seconds.
Invade another guy in Bastille and I hear the gate by the second bonfire opening. I should have hid but instead I tackle this guy head on. The dogs are worthless but I do get some damage in. As he's casting some huge pyromancy (Firestorm?) I get in that ass and backstab the guy. He runs, tries to drink, and eats Heide sword instead.

Most enemies go extinct after 10 or 15 of them are killed, in a given area. They can be reset by using an item at the local bonfire but it makes them harder the next time around.
Primals are found with the 4 great souls and only teleport you to majula. Igniting them rewards you later on.
What I did was just go hide behind the wall when he does fire. It's easy enough to roll through his arm swings to punish him (including the laser beam that goes through the wall. When you see him spit fire just go run and hide. If he dives stand away from the wall, seemed to usually make him pop back up near you.
They stop spawning after you kill them 15 times or so. Would make sense if he's dying a lot.

Primal bonfires are all deadends aren't they too. Oh, just like the 4 bonfires of the lord souls in DS1. Oh, there's 4 of those too and!.....
No but enemies only have a finite amount of spawns, so if you kill them enough times, they eventually disappear. There is an item in the game that will restore them I believe. Other than that, there's no scaling that I know of.
You can use an ascetic on a bonfire and the boss near it will respawn and it definitely counts towards the trophy. For Lucatiel the useless: I did this on The Rotten, which is perfect. The second bonfire is very close to the boss, and it's a small area anyway. Perfect to beat the boss twice on. Red Eye Ring is recommended (to pull all the aggro). Rotten is an easy boss.
For Benhart you can redo the congregation easily.

Why am I the only person to have trouble with this boss? Every single time I'm killed by the fire or knocked into the lava. This is fucking stupid.
Try using a different shield. I was using the Drangelic Shield whenever
he spouted fire and it only did a slither of damage, but it did take all my endurance away but I was using the Ring Of Cloranthy.
Also, if you stay close to him, he won't use that many fire attacks, and his swipes are easy as hell to dodge, just wait until the last second and roll.

Yeah, i tried that and he still spammed his fire attacks or pushed me into the lava. Either I'm unlucky or I just suck.

That's weird because the only
fire attack he used on me (besides the fire slam thing) was the fire ball attack so I just stood still and blocked it. I was staying real close to him the whole time though. From all the playthroughs I've seen he only uses all those fire attacks if you're too far away from him.
But I might have just gotten lucky or it might be some post-patch thing.

Nah, took me several tries as well. You just have to get a feel for what he's going to do.
Like I mentioned before, just
hide behind the wall when he spits fire

I can beat NG+ Sinner basically with my eyes closed. I can run circles around Freja. The Rotten has no arms.
Iron King gets me every single time.
Maybe I'm just dumb, but for some reason that one always gives me trouble. I know it should be easy, but I just derp on that fight.
