Anyone know if dual-wielding 2 Blacksteel Katanas is better than one of them with an Uchigatana?

I haven't tried it because I only got one BSK to drop, but I imagine movesets would be the same. BSK +10 at 40 DEX has a higher damage output, but two of them at 8 weight each would be heavier than one BSK and one Uchi.

HAHAHA holy shit, is this real? What game is this?

Man I'm always so laggy when I PvP or co op, kinda sucks. Anyone else always bad? Though sometimes it seemingly makes you immortal haha.

Before that first patch all of my PVP and co-op was perfect but since then it's been an unfortunate mix of decent to extremely laggy. I've only had a handful of lag-free games since :(

Hmm, nice info. The weight part of it is pretty important for my build and I didn't even look at it. I think I have 3 BSKs now. I just wore the traveler's gear and went through the area a few times and they dropped nicely for me.

I already have an Uchi and a BSK at +6 so I wasn't sure if I wanted to just start leveling another BSK now or keep going on the Uchi path.

It's about your Soul Memory and not SL. Even more so on NG+.

I thought it was the other way around, or at least the general consensus was that Soul Memory has no effect in NG+ (I believe I saw it on the wiki as well). From responses here and other forums it doesn't seem like anyone knows too much about it though, other than SL and SM are perceived to be much less restrictive on NG+ and further on.

I power stance the Uchi and BSK (farmed the Keep to extinction with item find gear but only got one BSK but 3 armor sets), it's nice. And you can go out of power stance to use the Uchi's strong attack (the stab) which is pretty useful.

I love how the rubble blocking the other path could easily be stepped over in a real life scenario. Even in a full suit of armor it would be easy to walk through it/over it.

This is one of the most annoying things about this series, and they keep doing it. You can't even jump over some of the stuff blocking you.

From plz

I don't know if this has been posted here, but holy fucking shit at this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfo_sbhI5oY

Spoilers for a NG+ battle. Again, holy fucking shit.

I lol'd at the parry at the beginning. Good shit though...I had to fight them one on one.

Go through Harvest Valley, and then 2 areas after that are were you can get a katana drop and an ember for McDuff (He'll sell you an Uchigatana once you give the ember to him).

Cool thanks.

All the co op people I've pulled in had such more interesting weaponry... The life of a hollow sorcerer (who thinks hes some kind of battle mage) I suppose!

Am I the only one with massive problems with parrying?

In part 1 I was parrying black/silver knights, club goloms etc left and right, but here?

Can't even parry normal soldiers..

It's much more difficult. Buy a buckler early on if you want to parry. The extra parry frames are really useful now.

ok so how may times does the berserker guy spawn? I killed him a few times early when I was part of the covenant but then gave up to save him til i had more item discovery. Now I come back and he doesnt spawn..tried about 8 times...in the past he spawned 4 times in a row and never missed more than two or three in a row? Do you have to be online first? I went offline last time and he was there but I was online for a bit first.

He's a rare spawn, so RNG just might not be in your favor.

I said fuck it and I just use the Chaos Blade for PVE and the Washing Pole for PVP.

AAAHHHHHHH!!!! I could use some advice for taking out (boss) N
ashandra
. I can deal with her regular shit just fine. But I can't deal with her AND fight through constantly being cursed. Is there some recommended gear to equip for this fight?

yeah if he doesnt even show one in ten tries and then my stacked item discovery is at best 1 in 20 I may go washing pole, it was my favorite sword last game though, may want to branch out, plus I hate the weight....will have to pump vitality I guess. I want the katana that avoids shields as well, but doesn't look like I can get until close to the end of the game.

the jester set has high curse resist, and mixed with the ring from maergold I did not get cursed again in the shadow forest.

I made another character to mess about with dual Caestus's, but I'm getting my ass kicked by everything...

Any recommended items for fist weapon builds? I'm going to try for the Vanquishers Seal, and maybe up my two weapons to Raw.

Caestus gives A/A scaling at +10. Putting it to raw doesn't seem like a good deal.

Why does being cursed matter? Put a ring of binding on and it's harmless.

Honestly can't help with the fight because the boss died before I even saw it do anything threatening. I just walked up and beat on it.

Easiest boss in the game. Her only long range attack has an incredibly long charge time. Stay out of the range of the curse balls and make her come to you. It's really easy to stay un cursed if you control where the fight is taking place.

Then stay a few arm lengths away from her which will cause her to use her beam, hit her two or three times, move back until she uses her beam again, and hit her again. Do that until she is dead.

1. You can destoy those curse clouds
2. You can lure her away from them so they don't impact you

You can destroy
her curse orbs
with 2 sword hits.
Then you can kill her with arrows or magic from outside her scythe range.

A relay easy last boss.

Gwyn is pretty easy when you parry him. But without I still haven't beat him after 500+ hours in dark souls 1.

Probably been asked a bunch before but I can't find it in a search:

Where do I get more Souls of a Giant? I think I have one from a couple of lunks down in black gulch, but I need more. Vendrick got his haterblockers up and I can't do shit to this dude.

Souls final bosses seem to be inconsistent across the series. Not sure why From does that.

I managed to turtle/tank Gwyn using Cloranthy Ring/Mask of Child and an Eagle Shield +15. Just sit back with a shield up and attack when open.

Do you have the
Ashen Heart
yet? If so
look for the trees that look like grim reapers in the forest of fallen giants
.

Guard break is really satisfying to pull off in PvP. I had it used against me several times, so I'm trying to practice pulling it off when I can.

Also Havel's Greatshield is god-tier. Especially when magic infused and it has 100% magic resist (also I have 98% physical resist, and an average of 80% in everything else). I like to just sit there and laugh off people's sorceries with the shield :P

Nope. No idea what that is haha.

Continue on by going north in the Shaded Woods forkroad.

Allant wasn't too bad. Gwyn was a joke with parrying and less of one without.

There's no doubt that
Nashandra
is the most disappointing one, though. Really needed the speed and aggression of the
Lost Sinner
fight.

Got killed on NG+ before even meeting the witches :(
Was that hippo ogre thing there to the left of the hut on NG? Never saw a path that way my first time through.

So I was moving my way through the
Doors of Pharros
, and all of a sudden I'm invading someone else's world as a shade? As far as I know I didn't do anything to trigger this. I was still wearing my
Bell Covenant
ring from earlier invasions, but I didn't invade this person in
Belfry Luna/Sol
. I invaded them right where I was, in the great big open area in
Doors of Pharros
. Does anyone know what this was all about?

Yep, it's there from the beginning and
drops a good ring to start things off.

That's the Rat covenant and that area will auto summon you. There are two places in the game like that (The other is in the Grave of Saints just above the Gutter). You are summoned into their world and they try to kill you for a certain item drop to level up their covenant. There's really no downside to you if you die other than losing a few minutes of your time so it's all in good fun.

ahah yeah isn't it great? so, uh, we're amongst fellow gaffers here, pray tell... what would you say your weakness is ?
you greatshield wielders are the bane of me in pvp

For some reason I thought the final boss in this game was hard with just melee.

Allant was pretty tough, and aggressive, but I beat him on my first try. I got saved a ton by Second Chance though. Gwyn didn't leave much of an impression...I summoned Solaire during the fight and I think we made quick work of him.

I died a couple times against
Nashandra
... :x

It wasn't the curse, apparently... but something was draining my HP.

Thanks guys, I got her. :D

Once it became clear how to bait her beam attack, it was pretty simple.

lol. Tried using guard break? It's especially useful against people who turtle. Which I do, but I've tried to loosen up and I'm getting a little better at avoiding guard break. But the takeaway is that over-reliance of shields can screw you over.

Besides that, you just have to look for openings. I use a greatshield, but people find my openings all the time.

Cool yeah, I was just curious as to what was going on.

I must say that I'm really enjoying covenants more this time around. I've been having a blast invading people in the
Bell Covenant
, hoarding titanite like a baws. The only downside has been the gankers I encounter every now and then, but I guess that's just part of the deal.

1). Drake Keeper's armor and cursebite ring have curse protection. You can get the armor off the knights at the dragon shrine (but it's heavy) and the ring from the merchant at the Iron Keep.

2). Just hit the dark floaty things with your weapon. They only affect you if you're between them.

Rat Covenant invasion.
YOU get summoned to THEM. It's kind of nice... all it does is delay you, but they can actually die.

Soul Appease is worth it just to take out those exploding hollows. Goes through walls, too. So good.

Logging in on my cleric also reminded me of how freaking good Defender Greatsword is; 192/115 base damage, then tack on 208 lightning damage from its scaling (S with Faith). Claymore's moveset, speed, weight and range but with more damage. Also buffs itself.

It could take a few hours of retrying to get the whole armor set and katana. Use the cat ring to jump directly down instead of going down the ladder every time you head back to the bonfire.

Man. The
Gargoyles
are no joke. I spent forever banging my head against them tonight. I "stooped" to summoning.

Feel kinda cheap about summoning. Every-time I do, I feel like I'm cheating somehow. 0_o

I'm an hexxer, guard breaking is only possible through a shotgun spell at point blank (and even then I'm not sure it would work against every greatshield).
openings are hard to get, especially with the lag. I guess it's the same for everybody, but the number of times I get hit by a roll->attack when I got clearly out of the way is frankly annoying.
so, no secret weakness ahah. have you ever been hit by force or emit force? I wonder how much guard break they produce.

I do agree that over-reliance on shields is a bad idea, especially since now every blow seems to stun you a little. I didn't try greatshields so I don't know about them, but I really feel like "medium" shields have become quite useless in most situations.
