lol, yeah...honestly I didn't even want to fight him, he's just minding his business and I feel like an asshole. I basically told myself that I'd kill him once on my first playthrough since all the enemies on the way are already extinct and I'd never, ever do it again. It's simply not worth the effort by any means, and I'm only doing it to say that I did it. Which is a piss-poor reason now that I think about it. I promise I'll give up before I start raging, after which point I'll start smugly guilt-tripping you vicious warmongers who DARED harm such a beautiful creature.

Freja later? I used a bonfire ascetic on my SL70'ish INT character for the MLGS so she's in NG+ mode but I tried once and got absolutely demolished because of how much more aggressive the little spider adds are.
I am on Xbox 360.
 
So, is there any point with the area around the Soldier's Rest bonfire in the Forest?

Feels a bit pointless to place lots of strong enemies and a bonfire there if you can't do anything. There is that dead giant, but it doesn't seem to do anything either.

I guess it's not totally useless, because I found the leather armor set there and it kicks ass, but other than that I haven't found anything of interest.

The overreliance on poison got pretty annoying, but I was actually fine with those barring Black Gulch which is my least favorite spot in the game as it was just straight up overkill with those statues everywhere.

I really disliked a large part of the second half of Dark Souls 1, though. Lost Izalith is the worst segment in any of the games to me, with the worst boss to cap it off. I also thought tomb of the giants and crystal caves were annoying more than anything else. I do need to return to that game sometime(hell, Demon's as well) and see if I changed my feelings at all. I never played through the DLC either.

The Giant periodically spawns a Seed that you can pick. It makes enemies turn against human invaders.
 
Beat the pursuer on the first encounter on my second playthrough, he is so easy once you have his pattern down. Kinda disappointed there isn't a reward for doing this though.

Hmmm maybe Witchbranch Chime? Bit fuzzy on the requirements but you get it from
that hole in Majula. There's a locked door mid way through that you can get to by paying Gilligan for the longest ladder or jumping down. The key is in Black Gulch, just before the second bonfire, between the two wall worms there's a ledge that you have to fall down on to and there are two more ledges after that. Strong enemies in there though.

As Dresden says, Dragon Chime is probably worth it to pump INT to 50. It's the strongest and fast with a casting speed of 145.
 
Torn between just respecing my current character and going into NG+ or starting a new file. I feel like starting a new file may be better way to go since I plan on using a completely different play style.
 
Hate to say that, but summoning feels like cheating. I did on the Throne Knights battle and man, how people are overpowered! In a matter of seconds the char put down both knights for me.

Thanks for the advice. That casting speed is pretty appealing.
 
Want to use the red tearstone ring against Ancient Dragon. What's the quickest way to get to 1/3 health in the Dragon Shrine? Northern Ritual Band helps. Are there any short falls on the way to the boss door? I realize I could just take damage but since all the enemies are extinct I'd have to go out of my way to find them, and I don't feel like doing that dozens of times.

Or is another strategy in order? At full health + orange bur I can withstand a lick of his AoE fire attack but just barely. I don't feel like wasting a dozen more human effigies but if that's really the easiest way to go about it I will.

haha had the same problem last night. my tip: go in very light, bait the laser attack (its telegraphed like hell, always run right) and ignore the spider adds (just run and roll around them). dont summon anyone, as it will only buff her.
 
So the Affinity-esque special attack of the Sacred Chime Hammer deals damage based entirely on the weapon's Dark element attack. So infuse it with Darknight Stone and use a Dark enchantment on it to maximize the power.

That's a fun fact for anybody else out there with fond memories of Grant who want to run around with this game's equivalent clowny-but-not-completely-terrible gigantic bonk-bonk weapon.
 
Spent two minutes in the black gulch and bailed out. Reached Doors of Pharros and that
rat
boss fight was a nuisance but it's a great looking environment, up there with Majula and Heide's this far.

I'm not enjoying the structure of it as much as DkS and I'm finding a lot of the changes made from the first frustrating.

was underwhelming and the boss from the covenant was a little challenging. time for ng+

screwed up lucatiel and assassin guy though
 
I think the Rebel Greatshield is interesting since if you infuse it with an element (magic, thunder, fire, blood, poison, dark) it will gain 100% reduction against any one of those you choose. The other elements don't drop to less than 80 anyway, it will be more if you upgrade the shield. 90% reduction against everything is still nice, but the small change to 100% still gives something of a confidence boost. 100% magic reduction in Shrine of Amana would trivialize the area for a melee character, even if the area is perfectly doable with the lighter shields with 70-80% magic reduction.

It might be useful in pvp as well, if you are up against a caster with only a single element. Considering few casters only use one element since Pyro is always used, it might be better to not infuse it if you use it in pvp.
 
For PVP, infusing it with Dark would be the best option for Rebel's Greatshield. That's what I did, anyways; the other resistances still stay above 90% while giving you complete immunity against hexes.

I pretty much did that but for some reason they are too fast and one attack takes almost all of my health. It was so frustrating running out of END just trying to get away from them.

Thought about that as well. I have a few anti magic shields but I might finally get a dark one since it will probably catch on soon. Havn't seen too much Dark used.

i know that feel. took me a few hours. the spiders literally one shotted me. you have stay very patient. i used a 2 handed fire longsword+6 against her and each time i baited her laser attack i hit her with 4-5 r1 swings. but i have to say i was at lvl 80-85.

good luck.

if you are lucky you get a very good sunbro/ally. but message them that its ng+, otherwise they WILL die in seconds.

down - my red tearstone strategy paid off I guess. Now that I beat him and temporarily feel like a fucking expert here's my useless strategy that took a couple dozen tries to nail home:
At the start of the fight run up to him with a slight bias to your right and wait for him to act. He'll probably rear up his neck and get ready to breathe fire in a straightish line - this is what we want to see as much as possible. When he does this dash like mad to his foot and hack away, leaving enough stamina to run back over to his front side after his fire attack is done. When he's not breathing fire in a straight line he's going to fly up and straight murder you. In this instance I run as far as I can to the edge of the arena and run counter-clockwise along the edge until I'm sure the attack has missed me. It might, it might not. Usually it does, however, in which case you run back in his face and repeat the first step. If you're lucky he'll get in an AI loop of his easily-dodged neck-rearing attack. If you're unlucky, well, you will be unlucky many, many times. Good luck.

Also want to mention that you can survive his AoE attack with at least 30 vigor, full Saint gear (the highest light-weight fire resistant gear I found), and after having eaten an orange burr. By the time you finish healing from this the pattern will probably be broken and you'll be fucked anyway, but it is possible

Stick with a mace for the early game. After that you've got the large club, great club, mastodon greatsword, mastodon halberd...I use the mastodon greatsword myself.

My fire longsword is at +10, so maybe I will be able to do it. I just tried again but got hit by her fucking webbing so she stepped on me and killed me in one hit.
