I'm not sure if it's just me but the huge Basilisk freaks me out, especially when I melee him and I'm really close to those eyes.

damn.

So, is there any lore speculation as to what
Ornstein
is doing in the Heide Tower? Didn't we
kill him good
in the first game?

And also why is he using
dark spells now, when he used to be a servant of Gwyn? Was he corrupted somehow? Or is it an impostor?

It could be that him and Smough were illusions in the first one and that was the real Ornstein or a version of him.

What's the name of the armor from the reveal trailer ? The one with fur. And where is it, exactly ? I'm at the
Mirror Knight in Drangleic Castle
and haven't seen it yet.

you already missed it, but that doesn't matter, because you will have at least 5 sets by now that are way better.

and please use the wikidot wiki.

What's wrong with wearing different armor if you like it aesthetically or for other reasons?

nothing.

never said anything about that, did I?

I was just a little dissapointed that you get that set so late and that it is so bad.

btw.: with how much equipment load are you playing?
I am always at 69.X%

any reason to go lower=

I just take it as the
Ornstein in Anor Londo
being undead himself but not hollow. Then you fight him Hollowed and fallen to the Dark in the Blue Cathedral. Probably too simple for Dark Souls standards but it makes more sense to me than the whole illusion thing. :P

Should I stock up on items before Ng+ or will shops keep their inventory? Also, is there a glitch with the merchant in Majula not giving the serpent silver ring +1?

Quick question: is the dark pyromancy flame the same as a regular one? If not, where can I acquire a regular one?

The dark pyromancy flame scales with your hollowing grade along with int (?). But even in human form it seems stronger than the normal one.(Then again I only upgraded the Dark one to +10 so far) Not sure about that.

You can find the normal pyromancy flame in a chest after the no-man's wharf boss.

Question about what to do next:
Just beat the Demon of Song. I have 3 of the 4 main souls, but I have no idea where the fourth one is or what to do next.

You're ahead of where you're "supposed" to be. Which of the great souls do you have?

Iron King, Lost Sinner, The Rotten

If you have a fragrant branch of yore you can take the upper path out of majula near the entrance to the tutorial area. You can use the branch on a statue there to open the path to the shaded woods.

Is there any kind of Poison Resistance ring? I'm at Harvest Valley and would like to explore everywhere, but I'll do that later if such a thing exists.

You can find one in a chest behind a secret wall after using a pharros lockstone in the tunnel with poisonous water near the first boss. There's also an estus flask shard at the end of that small tunnel.

Doing my glass cannon sorcerer playthrough following the cliff notes here - http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/...ark_souls_2_sorcerer_or_how_i_learned/cgb46tx

Not putting any points in VGR (at least not until much later), rolling/shield or death. Quite the thrill considering sorcery starts quite weak.

Only thing I've done differently so far is 7 points of STR for the leather shield/2nd mace. Mace is just too OP to ignore early on as a sorcerer.

I may try this build, always wanted to do a sorcerer build.

I just lost 270k souls. I... I think I need to go lie down...

Why in the world were you holding that much?

Weird so the wiki says there are 12 estus flash shards in a ng however i found 13, i already upgraded to the max of 12 charges and i still have one left.

Since you start with 1 charge of estus, you only need 11 estus flask shards to max out your estus, which means the 12th shard is the one you have as an extra.

So? Like I said, the fact that you can request people to join you to make the game less dangerous for yourself is the trade-off for the potential of being invaded. Hell, in Dark Souls II, I got invaded a couple of times when I wasn't even human because I was being punished by that stupid covenant.

Does it quit the game when one yanks their internet cable? I always saw it as gratifying when someone did that during the numerous times I invaded in DSII because it means I had successfully frustrated them, which is really my only goal when invading.

I haven't been invaded much in DSII to compare, and I played Belfry Luna and Belfry Sol offline for that reason. Still, if its inhibiting someones progress, they can do whatever they want to get rid of it in my opinion. I got summoned once as a grey phantom in Doors of Pharros, saw how cheap the set up was for that area, so if I ever go back there, I play it offline as well.

Am I screwed? I just posted about asking what to do next but I think my game might have glitched.
Apparently, Freja's soul is supposed to turn into a great soul after you touch the red stain on the ground, which I did, and it said "Great Soul Embraced." At the time I found it odd that it still appeared as a normal boss soul. And now there is no red stain on the ground but a triangular stone slab that I can "examine" to which the game replies "alas, nothing happened."

I have all other great souls.

PvP with a (poison) whip or ladle is so fun. Add to that I'm wearing the Moonlight Butterfly set, which poisons them when I stand near, I'm pretty all out on poison.

I hae a question though, if I just want to circle around them to poison them, and just block everything, Rebel's Shield infused with dark is the way to go?

I mean, I'm at 16% equip load now carrying a bunch of extras, so I can carry a lot of weight.

It's not supposed to (turn into a Great Soul, Freja's), you're in the clear. You can progress now, with all four.

So I just beat the last boss and wondering should I just explore some more and finish off some left over areas or just kill npcs and head into new game plus?

Nah, that should be what is supposed to happen.

You're gonna be all right.

You're not screwed. You can come back later in the game when you got a certain key item.

It was the same for the first Dark Souls, not that that excuses it.

I'm actually fine with it when it comes to this series, as it keeps me motivated to continue playing with the same character and seeing what + playthroughs have to offer.
My friend and I were able to get done earlier in DS1, only because you could drop weapons and spells to pick up and get the ones we missing from each other. They blocked that in DS2.

Have you defeated vendrick? Good number of souls for you if you do.

Not yet. Didn't know where to go to get the giants souls so he wiped me out befor I could really put a dent into him. Think I might hit the wiki and finish that and a few more things (still haven't killed the chariot boss for example)

Why in the world were you holding that much?

On NG+, already SL148. I was just trying to get the damn ember from Iron Keep so I could start throwing down on some upgrades/imbuing. Unfortunately I stupidly jumped to my death on one run after breaking all my rings. Well I got so scared I used an effigy, grabbed some sunbros, and ultimately ended up dying to a blue phantom one shotting me after my bros had died. Sucks, but the way they throw souls at you in NG+ and the lack of things I want to spend them on means I'm not TOO upset... But still...

I would recommend using a bonfire ascetic on the undead purgatory bonfire and kill the chariot boss again. He drops a nice ring in ng+. :D

Oh shit you're right, but wait if thats the case why would FROM make it so that you would end up with an extra useless shard?
