Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Question about near ending.
I have the King Ring and if I want to do the most before credits roll should I open the door in Shaded Woods or in Drangleic castle first?

You don't need the ring for blue eye orbs. Blue eye orbs are used for invasion, while the ring is used to be summon to help people sometime. I never really bothered with the ring.

So... How does their covenant work exactly?

Just put on the ring and hope to be summoned randomly? Cause that never works either. :(

Yeah, the ring never summoned me either. I think most people just don't spend too much time being a member of the "Covenant of the Meek". :P
Add pretty rare Brotherhood of Blood invasions before ng+ and you end up with a barely working mechanic.
In theory you put on the ring while being alive and in an area where the covenant symbol glows and get summoned randomly.

again, you are already at the point, where you would have needed those souls.
even if something had gone wrong, it wouldn't have mattered.

Yeah. I actually just missed the exit out of the
Song Demon fight
. So I was all what in the hell is there left for me to do! Thanks for your replies though.

You don't put down a sign. You just invade the guilty like the Darkmoon Covenant. Most of the time you invade in the area you use it in but you do invade other areas too. They just seem to have lower priority.

You're getting invaded yourself if you're in the bell tower. You don't have to be there to invade yourself. Just go back to the bonfire. Assuming your lvl and soul memory aren't ridiculously high you should be summoned very regularly.
And you can still be invaded after you killed the boss.

oooooh, thanks. And so do people just drop titanite chunks once you kill them? Is that how it works?

Man I'm having a rough time in Iron Keep and that's without fighting any bosses lol. and to add insult to injury I was invaded in Belfry sol by a naked dude and he defeated me with his fists.

It's also kind of silly (annoying) that even when I cast Flash Sweat, Walk in water, eat an orange burr and wear the Flame Quartz Ring I still can't manage to get some of the treasure in the lava without dying quickly.

This game.....

Well shit. That sucks.

I really enjoy the sparring/battle arenas though. Thats really the only reason I want to be in their covenant. I wish there was a faster way to get Tokens of Fidelity though.

Guys, the chick from Majula warns me if I want to go to D
rainlaic castle
Ignore her and go or wait?

you dont have lit all 4 primal bonfires.

but you can go if you want.

go into ng+.
in ng almost noone gets invaded.

It doesnt really matter that much which one you choose first because you have to go to both places anyway. I would do the one in
Drangleic Castle first
, otherwise you'll end up
fighting two bosses in a row.

If you have collected all
4 giant souls, then you should go to the castle, yes :)

Yeah, it may be bug or something but the brotherhood of blood arena doesn't consume tokens of spite as far as I can tell like the sentinels arena consumes tokens of fidelity.
It's pretty much the same thing just easier to access.

Edit: Wait, no. That's probably not a bug since you'd need red eye orbs to get tokens of spite and you can't get those without the arena aside from the ones you find in ng.

No I havent but I want that Armor... Is it easy to grab?

I'm 15 hours in, currently at the Shrine of Amana, and I haven't been invaded once. Do you need to be human to be invaded or is there something special I have to do?

From the cover....Faram something like that

you don't need to open any of the king doors for that.

finish the room
right next to the first bonfire you find.

I'm 15 hours in, currently at the Shrine of Amana, and I haven't been invaded once. Do you need to be human to be invaded or is there something special I have to do?

first: damn your fast.

2nd: in ng you almost dont get invaded ever.

you will get invaded more likly when you are human though.
but it is still rare in ng.

Nope, you don't need to be human. Invasions are just a rarity before ng+ because of soul memory and limited red eye orbs.
Being a sinner helps by adding blue sentinels to the pool of possible invaders but it's still a rare occurence.

Serious question here, how the fuck are you at the Shrine of Amana in 15 hours on your first playthrough?

But to answer your own question, NG+ is where the invasions start to ramp up. I was only invaded once in my 70 hours of NG (and I'd stepped out of the room when it happened). I've been invaded twice in +, and if you count the blue sentinel sin hunting hounds, make that an extra 10-15 times.

Haven't played for like a week but got on today and finished BHOB rank 3. Can finally complete the game, sell it, and wait for the PC version now (ヽ´ω`)

Some impressions and comments on PvP
- Almost every mechanic change is an improvement for the better
- Pyromancy is useless and incredibly dodgeable, don't use it or make a build around it
- Spells/Hexes might seem strong but almost all have the same roll timing
- Ultra GS class and similar weight weapons are a complete joke now
- ADP does have an effect on dodging, even if I can't describe it in words exactly
- Really disappointed that getting to rank 3 doesn't give you a further red phantom glow than getting to rank 2 does.
- Even though it lost its rolling R1 tracking and godly dead angle, the claymore's new moveset is much better for PvP than the old one

Final equipment setup was Lightning Claymore +10, Defender's Shield +5, Any Chime (scaling miracles are mostly useless), Fire Avelyn +10, Desert Sorceress Head/Legs +10, Smelter Demon Chest/Arms +5, Sunlight Blade, Great Magic Barrier

dont you need 500 wins for that?
and every loss lowers your wins?
Yes, in the end you need 500 more wins than you have losses. So for example if you lose 100 times you need to win 100 times to cancel those 100 losses out and then another 500 wins on top of that for 700 total. The only hard part is keeping track, I just dropped piles of 99 cracked red orbs and tokens of spite to count as I went.

Lol, trying to do that, those assholes move like the wind. Wanted to cheese them with an avelyn, but they move too much.

Summon
Lucatiel and rush to the boss area so she will enter the fog with full health. Attack the Sinner together with her until about a 3rd of her lifebar is gone. Then you sprint to one of the vents were the pyromancers enter and try to get rid of one of them as soon as you can. If all goes well, Lucatiel will keep on distracting the Sinner while you take care of the other pyromancer.
At least that's how I did it, good luck!

and do you have to give 500 items to the covenante leade?

But you can get the covenant magicks in ng+++ right?

:( sl 202

On new game + finding it hard to play through a second time, unlike the multiple runs of DeS, DaS.

Just really nothing to look forward to I guess. Meh boss battles, they also pushed way too hard on large 2 handed weapons this time around. I hope it wasnt because they wanted some of that monster hunter crowd.

Bust seriously the neat weapon deaigns are for the large weapons >:(

But you can get the covenant magicks in ng+++ right?

Yes thats right so fuck the covenant of blood and its bullshit ranking that doesn't even keep track of your score, fucking bullshit i'll just buy the covenant spell in ng++.
Also btw guys when someone invades someone is the character name that gets displayed or the gamertag?

and do you have to give 500 items to the covenante leade?
Nope, just have to hit the correct number of wins in the invisible counter. Easiest way to do it in retrospect would be to discard 1 cracked red orb or token of spite for every time you lose, so once you accumulate 500 total you'll know you're there.

But you can get the covenant magicks in ng+++ right?
Yeah but I wasn't interested in great chaos fireball anyways (pyro is useless), was just a personal goal. Also wanted to see if you got another tier of glow that differentiates you from rank 2 red phantoms, but you don't :(

Finished ng+ last night. Just one more.push to the castle to go. 80 hours so far. Might just speedrun it as I'm getting a bit sick of it now. Never said that about dark souls 1.

Just reached
Iron Keep
, I have so many questions haha.

1. What's the deal with Lucatiel? I encountered her again in
Earthen Peak, where she apologized and gave me a ring. Why is she apologizing? Am I supposed to help her with something? Can I even help her?
2. Please tell me those absurd
mannequins in Earthen Peak
aren't those super badass guys from the CG reveal trailer.. I've been looking forward to encountering them all game.
3. The infrastructure of this game is so bizarre. How the hell do you go from
the top of Earthen Peak where you take an elevator up to end up in a pool of lava with a half-sunken castle? I don't understand what's going on anymore.
4. Location question Is
Iron Keep Anor Londo
? It looks like it.

But you can get the covenant magicks in ng+++ right?

It's actually NG++.
On your third playthrough, you just have to get to Drangleic Castle and the ghost of Wellager will sell you the spells. I did it last week and got the platinum trophy on my 3rd playthrough before defeating any boss in Drangleic. It's easy enough to get the third rank in the Abyss covenant and if you don't play online, you need to farm 30 sunlight medals and get to the second rank in the Belltower covenant.

Thanks guys, guess I'll have to wait until NG+. Everything's going down pretty fast ever since I got Flame Swathe, it's so much better than all my other sorcerer stuff. I've also played with a Warrior up until Iron Keep so I was pretty familiar with most areas already. Melee is so much easier and faster than a sorcerer though, but then I haven't tried hexes or miracles yet.

Ok, not sure where to go now.
I have been through Shrine of Amana > Undead Crypt > Dragon Aerie/Shrine. I got the item from the huge dragon to see memories. Also fought the two bosses at the Throne of Want.
So, where do I go to finish this sucker off because I imagine I am nearing the end.

1. She is kinda like Siegmeyer. You'll encounter her throughout the game and need to talk to her. Also you need to summon her for 3 out of 4 available boss fights and need her to survive to finish her quest. Same for the guy with the big blue sword
2. No. But those only are in ng+ from what I've read, and still don't look as bad ass.
3. The castle was probably on a vulkano mountain and sunk in.
4. Unlikely. But no one knows for certain.

Forest of the Fallen Giants
There are 3 dead giants where you can play their memories. One of those has a boss you need to beat (through the kings door). The other are optional [near the first turtle knight and behind pursuer boss] (You can also enter the dragon where you fought the spider).

Nice. That's a lot of wins.
and do you have to give 500 items to the covenante leade?
Not in this case, but I was amazed that I had to deliver the sunlight medals one at a time. They improved the interface for consuming multiple souls at once, so I assumed it would be an option for covenant items too. I thought we were past this!

Sweet. The only one I did get to level 3 was the abyss covenant.

So if I get to ng++ (third) I should be able to get all the magicks? Sorceries, pyroes, hexes and miracles, correct?

Or just use a bonfire ascetic...

Logged in about 95 hours since release but tookna week off playing. Got burned out from farming all the armors.

I have the start guide but it said ng++++ for magicks. So no idea of that'a the case or not

Thank you. I don't feel too bad asking because that is kinda obtuse. I did find the one outside the pursuer fight on accident though but didn't know it was related to the item I got. Glad I'm on the right path now.

ATTENTION NEoGAF!! Did I muck up my game?

I only have Old Iron King Soul, Soul of the Lost Sinner, and Soul of the Duke's Dear Freja left in my inventory. I beat everyone so far accept the black gulch boss. will I be able to still get thru the door to the last areas or do i have to burn that thing to be able to fight those bosses again in NG+ mode?

it takes waaay too long for me to get summoned for the Bell Covenant...

when do chunks become purchaseable? Especially infinite?

The stone trader merchant doesn't sell them until you have the King's ring. She doesn't sell unlimited chunks until you beat the game. You could farm some of them in black gulch from the monsters that hide in the ground.

Bell keepers is where I go for them, though. Try hanging out closer to the other bell tower if you're not having luck at one, but not in the area itself or you'll just get invaded.

yeah, read about that some time before the release and was certain, that it would also apply for stuff like this.

popping 30 humanities and giving them to the spider/Kathee one by one was so anoying and now I have to give every rat tail one at a time to the rat king, or the sunlight medals.

you don't need any soul in your inventory. You just need to beat them. After the bg boss you can proceed through the Shrine of Winter. Alternatively, with enough Soul Memory you don't need to beat any of them.

Gamertag.

?

how dont you get the souls when you beat them?

and what is the minimum requierement to get to drangleic castle?

You need to get to Drangleic Castle on your third playthrough. Bonfire Ascetics sadly don't work on the ghost
. I tried it on my second playthough and it did nothing (kindled all 4 bonfires in the castle and the one in Shaded Woods with). I did use a bonfire ascetic on the Mirror Knight and the 2 Dragonriders on my second playthrough and defeated both for the third time. This might explain why the ghost sold me the spells as soon as I entered the castle.

Also, you don't have to defeat the 4 Bosses to get through Shrine of Winter. On the 2nd and 3rd playthrough, the shrine opens when you have a certain amount of soul memory. I can't tell you what it is exactly, but I think only the soul memory you amass in the 2rd / 3rd playthough counts (could be wrong about that) and the amount needed to open the door gets smaller and smaller the more primal bonfires you kindle on those playthroughs.
