I don't know about spells, but I did that last night to buy certain armor from a vendor. So it seems to work in that regard.

I had trouble too until I realized to the left of him is a little stairway to an upraised area. It keeps him at a safe distance and he ends up primarily using his easier-to-dodge attacks to try and hit you, but you're still in decent range for pyromancy.

I agree with Scher about trying another area. If you get to Last Bastille by way of the Pursuer in Forest of Fallen Giants, the 3 Sentinels can be a bit of a steep difficulty curve. There is another way to the Bastille which feels more logical when you do it and the preceeding area and boss are easier (imo). I got stuck on the Sentinels on my first (mage) playthrough too.
Heide's Tower is also very easy, short and can be done before FofG even and has some useful stuff you will want access to asap.
I'll be okay with getting the Lucatiel trophy even if she died during the
fight, correct? She survived the other three, but the guide makes it sound pretty scary if you talk to her the last time without doing the battles correctly.
Also, do we know exactly the different conditions to open the
? I remember hearing something about 1,000,000 souls or only having to do certain bosses instead of all four greatsouls? Just need to get into
as quick as possible in NG++.

Super easy method. Buy a bow and about 150 poison arrows. Sprint to the platform right to the left of him. When you're there he'll only use his overhead smash, which is super easy to dodge with a roll to the left or right. Pump four arrows into him, let be poison kick in, dodge until it wears off, repeat until dead.
it's more for each new cycle.
Any idea how many it is for NG++? And do they need to be souls carried or is it Soul Memory?

Why did they think being invaded by two grey shades was a good idea? Where's the logic? It gives the player almost no chance of survival, especially when there are still enemies on the map. Finally finished the game and was exploring one of those areas. Just made me happy I was done.
When they make another entry in the series I hope they focus more on making the encounters fair, otherwise I might have to pass on it.

I was really hoping for a more fleshed-out Gravelord-esque covenant. Bit of a disappointment, that.
How odd, is it a different fight in the Cove where Pate fights this skinny dude in black robes? Because I freed Creighton, but I haven't seen him since Shaded Woods, and I later found Pate vs that guy in black robes and killed the black robes guy.

Lol i assume you haven't ranked up up to 3 in the covenant of blood, it requires 500 kills in duels or invasions and if you die it counts as a negative so its 500 straights wins for getting the spell, good luck with that. Thankfully you can buy the spell in NG++
Seriously needs to be fixed. I don't think it's possible to get near 500 wins in a row at least if the -1, +1 system is correct. Guess I'll have to wait til NG+ as well.
If you have a W/L of 51%, you'd have to fight 25000 matches.

I still see a ton of people with WoTG.. I hate that goddamn Miracle btw..
I do wonder about that(I see a lot of people using it too, not everyone though), but that requires 150 wins(without counting losses). I did reach rank 1 in the Brother of blood after about 80 wins, so it's doable if tedious.

i think the biggest wtf moment in ng+ for me was when i was on the highest point of the gutter, and a trash mob (those exploding undead) two-hit me. he was just standing there to two-hit me. he didn't even flinch. i think i was looking at the screen for one min. without saying anything.
not if you are in iron keep, I get summoned there a lot. I wanted a couple of titanite chunks took me like 10 minutes to get them.

Successfully kill 3 bosses with Lucatiel summoned as a phantom (as in, she cannot die during the fight), and she'll give you all her gear (and you get a trophy) when you meet her for the last time.
Edit: You can kill the same boss over and over with her if you'd like (via Ascetics).

Having 16 Vitality and using flash sweat along with similar armor. I also used three Elizabeth Mushrooms before walking on it. Oh, forgot I also had on that flame resist ring.
Gifs are the best, I try to insert them where I can because they are so awesome. Usually I like taking the best of videos and giffing them, much easier than opening YouTube and watching them.
I actually didn't mind it at all. Much better than Blighttown. The toughest part was finding optional items, but the actually path wasn't too bad.
Alternatively you could roll through the water vases up the ladder, hop down, and jump off the platform to land halfway across the stretch of land before you take any damage. The water buff + Flash Sweat meant I could tank the fire with estus and a lifegem alone.
There is also vases of water up top in that area you can roll in that reduce fire damage significantly.
How do you know water is active? I could never tell.
You leave water footprints as you walk. You also need to specifically roll through the water.

I have the water active from the contraption, but just never knew how long it lasts. So, I'll just use the foot prints as an indicator. How long does the effect last usually?
He has like 5 invasion spots - can get very annoying.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you're attacking the adds from the front.
It took me 8 deaths to notice, but those adds are both wearing a Ring of Thorns.
Which means if you attack from the front, they automatically shoot projectiles at you.
Which means you're the one dropping your health instantly.
I felt so stupid when I finally realized it. Took them out with Lucatiel alive on the very next run.
I don't know an exact time, but it's definitely a considerable amount since I was able to roll around in the Pharos lockstone water pool and run all the way back to the chest and make it.
lol at people who use poison in PvP. Many people will apply poison, then back up completely...leaving me to use a poison moss with no resistance. So much for that?
I've wrecked several people with Avelyn. I bought tons of lightning bolts from Wellager at Drangleic Castle.
One guy I managed to spook after nailing him once, so he kept his shield up when I had my Avelyn out. I baited him with it, then I went up to him and used guard break. Switched to my greatsword and finished him off. I don't think he saw that coming.
I also surprised one or two people by hiding behind a wall, switching to Avelyn, then once I saw someone come in, I shot my Avelyn massive damage.
Some guy used poison mist on me, which completely blocks both our views. I switched to Avelyn, and nailed him through the mist lol.
I've also surprised other people, because I think they thought I was just a melee build, then I pulled the Avelyn out when they least expect it and shot them. I surprised one invader that way. He PMed me and said as much. It's a fun troll weapon.
On another note, I still can't get those lava chests
