It's funny because the estoc (same moveset as rapier but just more AR and maybe a bit longer) is god-tier in Demon's Souls PvP. Literally the single best PvP weapon. Now apparently it's a harmless toothpick, haha.

The Estoc was god-tier in Dark Souls as well. Maybe not the single best, but behind the BSS it was the best straight-sword IMO.

Still not sure about the DS2 version, but my early play with it shows promise.

Does anyone have any tips for the
Executioner's Chariot
boss fight as a Hexer? I'm having a really tough time with crowd control on the
skeleton mobs
before killing the two
summoners
. I've gotten past pulling the lever twice, and keeping a safe distance from the boss is proving to be really tough.

Jester's chestpiece disables critical attacks so good luck using an estoc on a person wearing one. You'll just have to stab him to death the old fashioned way.

What the patch should have addressed is the nonsense hitboxes on some of the weapons and the ridiculous button input lag on some of the commands. Im really tired of holding down run and just briskly waltzing like im in a small picturesque french town. Fix this shit. It happened once in a while in DS1 and now its basically every other time you input the command.

Nothing to do with input lag but your stamina bar...

I never bother with ANY
skeleton
. I just run to the next alcove and block their attacks while I'm there. I just let the
chariot
do all the effort. Only kill the
summoners so they won't revive the skeletons
. And when I get to the lever I let the
chariot
do al least one more run around to make sure all the
skeletons
are dead. Then it is keep your distance and don't be to eager. The moves are easy to telegraph, so dodge and be patient.

I have eyes. I got a full bar and im holding down run and he isnt running until 2 seconds later. Hmm..yea its my stamina bar. Bullshit

If you deplete your stamina, stand still and you will see your character breathing really hard. When he/she is doing that, you can't sprint. Seems to be a set timer not tied to your stamina bar but I haven't tested it.

Apparently Mirror Knight is a super easy boss, and nobody had issues with him? Why am I the only one who did, and yet I beat every other boss is basically one shot?

Shrine of Amana, sounds like fun!

I'm trying to get chunks ASAP. People said the rapier was good, well, I just suck. I have lost every single fight. 30 matches, and I haven't even scratched anyone. That's how bad I am apparently. I can't attack anyone with it, the strong attack misses every single time, and the regular attack misses or does almost no damage. I try to ask on other forums how am I supposed to use this weapon. Their replies "git gud". I dunno, if it were so OP, then why is nobody using them in PvP?

Get the Mastodon Greatsword. Win.

I'm not a fan of weapons with precise hitboxes like rapiers in PvP.

Is there even one good secret in Pharros Doors....seems a waste of my stones? Anyone

The Pharros doors in that area are actually for
there for use when you join Rat King convenant and an player gets summoned into your world. The more traps and things you unlock, the harder it is for them to reach the end of the level. Basically, the traps and secrets aren't secondarily made for you, but your enemies. If you want to have some fun, unlock the things and try it out and mess with players, otherwise, I don't think there's anything important in their except maybe a spear weapon on the bottom area where there's a giant door with 3 different doors on it. You can get an infinite amount of stones killing people in this covenant.

Is the Drakekeeper's Sword an all right weapon? It seemed to have among the longest ranges of the straight swords. I wanted something longer and faster than my mace for pvp, as it is way too difficult to attack a dual wielding katana user with the mace.

edit: I only allocate the base stats for the sword, as I'm going to infuse it. I'm putting most points in Faith.

Err why is there a constantly respawing somehow angry Gavlan in doors of pharos? I think somethings gone tits up somehow after I got rat summoned.

Has anyone else
tried getting themselves summoned in for the looking glass boss?
. Only just started trying and it seems to be taking an age.
Would have felt certain that there would be way more people doing the boss than getting summoned.

I noticed that pretty early on. But there's serious sponging happening. You swing 3 times without contention and then your fourth one just randomly comes out a second later. I dont like it. And it happens much more frequently than in DS1. Also the forward plus light slash without you inputing the command? What? It happens way too often. I guess it isnt a big deal but id prefer the game im playing do what i tell it to do.

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try this evening. I also just realized that I somehow completely missed finding
Carhillion of the Fold
in
No-Man's Wharf
during my initial run, so I'm going to try using the Yearn spell that he sells since it will keep the skeleton mobs distracted.

So where is the city at when viewing the castle from the mines? Forgive me if it's there as it's been many years since I last played it, but I don't think it's there. Then again, the distances between the artwork and actual in-game are completely different. In-game the city is right below the mountain whereas in the artwork it's miles and miles away from the mountain. Could be hidden from the mines view I suppose or they just didn't put it there.

Are you talking about this castle?

I am not sure about the context of that building. I don't believe that it is meant to be Boletaria Castle. I think the different locations were meant to be quite a ways from each other. Under the world tendency screen, you can see a vague map pointing to where all the archstones exist here:

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1698/map1ad6.jpg

According to this, Stonefang was across a sea from where Boletaria is. You'll notice that the tower of Latria archstone is on the island. This was probably intended to be the location of the Shrine of Storms, but probably got changed in development but the map itself was never updated. I don't remember offhand if there were any hints in dialogue as to what that castle in the Stonefang area was meant to be.

edit: regarding the inconsistency between the artwork and ingame shots. Things are much easier to convey on paper. Getting them up and running in a game, you encounter all sorts of weird hurdles. They may not have been able to convey such a vast distance that the concept art shows. They could have potentially run into clipping issues with mesh so far from the camera, or found that the polycount needed to convey the huge sprawl of the city was too much, so they sized it down a bit. And by sizing it down, they had to bring it closer in to still convey it's size. It was probably something along those lines, rather than a deliberate intentional change that was purely aesthetic.

Somehow I managed to put more than 50 hours in the game since launch and my PS3 died last night :x Fuckin YLOD. I'm trying all the known methods to see if I can save my save files, if not... I don't think I can pick the game up again for a long time. Fucking hell. I hate modern save systems.

But you know it will take you way less than 50 hours to get back to where you were...

I signed up for playstation plus specifically to have a backup for my Demon's Souls saves. I highly recommend it if you are playing on PS.

Noticed something odd earlier today in Dragon Shrine where I was barely seeing any summon signs at all until I challenged the area boss. After that it was summon signs galore at the bonfire.

Yeah, but redoing all that, especially when most of the places I've been are so damn similar to the other two Soul games is soul crushing, no pun intended.

Got the last two great souls. The journey to get them didn't seem as long as the first two which was welcome. Question though,
Freja's
soul is not showing up as a great soul and instead just a normal boss soul in my inventory, is this a story point or just a mistake with the item icon?

Drangleic Castle next. Running low on Human Effigys, are they frequently found in this area?

Trying a different type of character/weapon could help make it feel different while you rush through all that early stuff.

You know whats messed up?

Lost Sinner and Smelter Demon beaten on my first try in new game +, solo melee only build. That horse chariot piece of shit and Huntmans Corpse in general? Probably died five or six times and I still need to beat that dumb pony.

The last thing to do before I head to NG+ is to kill the A
ncient
D
ragon
. I heard he's an asshole, so can I get some tips? I'm playing as a STR+FTH build (using a heide greatlance/black knight ultra greatsword and a tower shield, with a dragon chime, pyromancy flame and sea bow in other slots).
