wasn't the turnout for tekken at evo like literally under 50 people because they were put on a weird schedule (fri-sat tourney) as to create a self-fulfilling prophecy of "nobody's going to show up for tekken so we can put it there"

i swear i remember some boycotting crap 'cuz of that

either way i hope international and national folks show up because the urge to cheer for 'murica is strong in me for all games, even ones i don't understand

If any game had 50 entrants at EVO, it wouldn't be featured next year.

I think TTT2 had something in the 300-400 range as far as entrants go. It would probably be higher if DS3s weren't banned.

Team KFC's victory in that UMvC3 money match (of sorts) is still the worst tragedy of FGCGAF imo.
FGC-GAF in general will forever have to wear this L.

People still debate KFC and Popeyes?! Yikes.

It's all about local chicken places or Roscoes.

If you haven't been to Roscoes or even have a decent local chicken place near you then damn you missing out.

Movie theater crowds are the worst to me unless I'm going with friends. Otherwise I usually like a nice and empty theater.

it depends, a shitty crowd who isn't even fucking paying attention to the movie is worse than death, but if people are really getting into it, you can feel it. obviously with comedies and horror movies and shit like that, that's when it's the most fun, but it goes with any movie. i don't think any regular person would want to see a comedy in an empty theater, because the atmosphere is so important. most comedies aren't even funny, but when you get a bunch of strangers in a room all laughing at some stupid crap, everybody has a good time.

Why would we be pissed? Plus there's already players going to EVO.
They were already bitter about SC5 not coming back last year. I can only imagine how they'll react to TTT2 getting a second chance after it got fewer entrants last year than SC5 did in 2012.

But whatever, glad TTT2 is back in. Should be a lot of fun.

Also, if SC5 players are going does that mean a side tournament is already planned?

Hope I'm able to see Cap this weekend.

Man, I sort of want to see it only so that I don't have to start skipping out on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (because the next episode takes place after Cap or something) now that the show has gotten so much better. What a strange world.

It had no where to go but up after the abomination of a start it had.

There's still no release date for Ultra even though it's supposed to be coming out this month in arcades. Hopefully there's not another delay.

Markman announced a Topanga Tekken League. 8 players flown to a neutral location and top 3 will be flown to EVO for finals.

So wait, there are finish the topanga top 3 at evo in addition to the normal evo tekken tourney? So there will be 2 tekken grand finals played at evo?

The schedule wasn't released until sign-ups were over.

Tekken finished on Friday because it had the second-lowest number of entrants, not the other way around.

Evo Tekken had I believe 355 entrants. The event you're remembering was NCR 2013 where some players boycotted because of a Friday schedule which inconvenienced a number of players due to not being able to get off work (hence the Tekken jobs meme). Notice there is no Tekken at all at NCR this year.

I'd actually be interested in a documentary about Triforce and his sidekick Dieminion hitchhiking across Europe trying to raise enough money to go home. Triforce continually blows all their savings and spends all day looking for a wifi connection so he can use twitter, while Dieminion secretly looks for other sponsors behind his back. It'll be the best sequel to King of Chinatown.

Saw Muppets Most Wanted the other week, and the theater was almost empty except for some weird old guy who came in like twenty minutes to the film.

I was bummed that I couldn't just talk and shit

I prefer an empty crowd or a very small crowd. Shit mainstream films are the worst with a full crowd. scum of the fucking earth always shows up when I go. Last time I went to the movies was like 2-3 years ago so w/e

hell yeah

The last two movies I saw in theaters were Hot Tub Time Machine and Snakes on a Plane.

*shrug*

I think the best movie crowds are in the thursday night 12am shows, its usually people that really want to see the film so all the nonsense is kept to a minimum.
Indeed. Usually enthusiastic but not obnoxious.

Some antique theaters show dope flicks and they serve beer and people are chillin.

Sounds like the plot for SFV.

That's a good point. Really depends on what type of film it is. Watching a comedy with a bunch of people is great.
As long as everyone is enjoying the movie, I'm fine with that. People kicking chairs or pulling out their phones to talk or text constantly bug me for any serious movie.

Also looks like the twitch group chats are already active, max's chat has it.

idk usually for me they're highschoolers doing highschooler things so a whole lot of the expected happens

Last movie I saw in theaters was R.Kelley's Trapped In The Closet which is a really great large crowd movie to watch.

You're maybe worse at seeing movies in theaters than I am. I saw TDKR, Batman Begins, Transformers 1, some movie about a kid running in the Boston Marathon, Scary Movie 2, and the Digimon movie since the turn of the century.

I don't get seeing movies in theaters. I pay money to sit in a mediocre chair, overpriced food, and inevitably one or two people who can't shut up. If I have to pee, I miss the film. I have to drive out and drive back. And in the end, if the movie is bad, I wasted money and time.

At home, I have a comfy chair, I can eat what I want at a reasonable price, and no one will talk unless we decide to together. I can pause the film, and I am at home the entire time. This infinitely better experience costs me nothing per viewing, and if it is bad I can put something else on.

Why would I ever go to a theater? Only if my wife wants to go. I used to go because I am a whore for theatre popcorn, but it is just not enough these days. I never even know what is at theatres anyway. My wife and I discovered last week that the second Hobbit movie was already released at theatres.

So you've seen one good movie since the turn of the century.

Social experience. I liked attending in groups and getting into it with a midnight crowd, but movie night isn't a thing among my current circle of friends, hence my extremely sparse list for the past decade. Might as well stay at home now, I agree.

And every time this topic comes up in the OT forum, all the Euros ridicule us for valuing the social aspect of cinema.

I agree with them. I can't get into mob emotional experiences.

because going out and doing things is fun and most theaters have really big screens and decent to great sound systems.

i always have the luck of sitting close to a loud baby when i've gone to the movies. last movie i saw was the avengers.

Yeah, but this is about theatres, not going out and doing things. I can do lots of things besides overpay for a mediocre experience.

My TV screen is big enough. The only movie that I have ever felt really needed a theatre to get the full experience was Jurassic Park. Big loud dinosaurs!

But that means I have to go out and do things
Doing stuff is fun.

It is always some stupid kid who talks to his parents throughout the movie for me, and the shitty parents get upset with me when I politely ask them to be quiet.

i try to go to the theater quite a lot but admittedly haven't been since sometime last year i think.

haha, actually i think the last time i was in the theater it was at the brattle in boston, they were doing a marathon of all the Evangelion movies and premiering 3.0 (which sucked!)

the crowd was way nerdier than me which i found great comfort in.

I went to the movies with classmates, teachers, and friends from my Japanese classes to see the wind rises. It was really cool. Social experiences bro
