I started watching some gameplay and cutscene footage from the latest Pac-Man game to see what his characterisation is like and how he'd appear if he does make an appearance in Smash Bros and I'm not sure I'm happy with what I discovered.
If he does make an appearance, I'm sure they'll go with the most current iteration of the character, and he's now been given a childish voice akin to that of Tails Prower or Ash Ketchum, which totally wasn't what I was expecting for a character like Pac-Man. I'm guessing this part of his characterisation would also appear in Smash also. I always liked him better when he was a mute character, he has enough charm already to pop and for us to know who he is visually, and it seems like Namco don't quite know what to do with the character. I'm not sure if the game and TV series are developed by Namco's Japanese studios because the whole concept and direction that's been taken with the character seems very western, and the monotonous platform gameplay I saw wasn't something I would expect from a Japanese developer either.
Visually I do like his new redesign, minus the creepy teeth, as most people will agree with. I feel his appearance in SFxTK was perfect, but Namco wanted something different for the character evidently. I'm just dumbfounded as to how a character like him would play, but it would be great to see him alongside other gaming icons like Mario and Sonic, as a celebration of gaming in general, even if he's currently an icon being molded into something he's not.

Smash Bros. is the ultimate crane game.
That toy could be your greatest wishes. A piece of music, your most wanted character or that one locale from that one game you played 3 years ago or 23 years ago.
Even after being crushed, you keep on playing it because you just never know when the crane will deliver.

I think the safest newcomer bet for the Direct is Mii reveal. Maybe Mewtwo if he's back. Ridley would make me go to the street and scream "RIDLEY IS NOT TOO BIGGGGGGGGGGG"
Personally, I think the two biggest character reveals will be Mii and Snake returning. Besides them, we will get some veterans...I think Wario, Pokemon Trainer and Ness are all safe bets.
What I would really love? Isaac and Kumatora. It's unfortunate that their chances are so slim, because both would fit pretty well.
I really want them to detail the stage builder, if there's one!

I never understood why people want the Mii in Brawl. Personally, I hate them and they're utterly annoying.

Miis are sort of...nothing. They're not good or bad.
I have no objection to them being a character because I doubt they'll have a moveset or style that Sakurai could have easily given to another character.

I don't really want Mii in the game but it seems pretty inevitable so whatever. I'm sure they'll have a fun moveset either way. I was more opposed to the Mario Kart tracks that took place in the Wii Resort island as that is meant to stay within Mario.

They grew on me. Now I think they're kinda funny. I've grown attached to mine.
I've seen what "better models" look like -- Xbox Avatars -- and it's bad, jim. Miis are good because of their simplicity.

I love Mii's but Xbox avatars kinda spoiled me I think. I am not even sure if the avatars passed over to Xboxone

I've been saying "Chaos" for years.
Does it matter? Miis are the way they are because they're suited to the settings they are positioned in. If you don't like them, fine, but they don't look out-of-place in their world. Just about anything else would.
