Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Chariot Executioner was a very cool boss fight. Probably my favorite in its set-up. Covetous Demon on the other hand was terrible. And that Medusa chick in the poison mist was meh as well. Luckily I beat her in one try--I didn't
burn the windmill
till afterwards! I made it down to the first bonfire in Iron Keep and decided that was a good spot to call it a day. Figure I will go back to Harvest Valley and do some poison mist suicide runs for loot before getting back to the quest at hand. This game has really come into its own for me, even with the inconsistent boss fights. I've even grown to like the bonfire warping since it's keeping me active in all areas.

Seeds of a Tree of Giants are fun to use, especially against those grey phantoms in Belfry Luna that try to run away to the last floor.
I just wish you could more reliably get them. They shouldn't be so common as to make invasions always a guarantee for fighting through everything to get to the actual player, but at the same time it'd be nice to not, say, use one only for the fucker to spawn right in your area with no way to get the enemies to chase them.

Thats it I AM FUCKING DONE. No more summoning for Pursuer. People are so ungrateful. They ask for my help, and then they complain when I kill them on accident.

Is my sarcasm detector broken? Because nothing is worse than the fucktards that spam the ballista willy-nilly in the Pursuer fight. Hey dumbshit, if I die we ALL lose out, so chill on the ballista trigger-finger.

edit: when I say "dumbshit" I am referring to a metaphorical ballista spammer, not you Alim :).

I only fire at maximum power when the host is not in the way. Otherwise, we won't be defeating the boss as we barely do any damage to it and someone always dies.

What a bummer, none of the bosses souls weapons is a staff but there is a chime that can be used for hexes and miracles, profound sadness.

Also finished the game, I think the last part was bit rushed and just they throw you to the final boss.

Got to spend some real time with the game again today. Cleared out
shaded woods, doors and currently working on brightstone. Najka was easier than expected, she hit me one time the entire fight. RRA took 2 tries. Pulled the rats with a bow, chaos stormed to kill the rest. Melee'd the boss past half held and finished him with pyro. I could see where he would be a pain in the ass but he basically melted for me.

Probably nearing the 90-95 hour mark with a smidge over 100 deaths. Taking it pretty slow, farming out most areas until empty. Opted for offlining the game. Maybe as I make my way through the NG+'s I'll turn online back on.

Random, but I would like to see;

Drangleic when the Undead Curse first started;

The Pursuer's Armor Set

More weapons, and items (Don't care what), more DLC just as awesome as the previous games'.

Probably old news but I finally found out what that
bug queen
in the G
utter
does;
the emanations cure the poison on you.
Kinda useless, considering the placement, but neat little trivia.
Guess this bug evolved to absorb the poison and thrive in toxic environments haha.

My face when I talked to Queen
Nashandra
(?) and she said,
"Visit King Vendrick.. There is no need for two rulers.."

I killed the poor thing and felt like an asshole afterwards. :(

The lack of the
Old Dragonslayer
Armor Set is making me sad.
That's my favourite armor set in DaS 1 - and when I saw that Ornstein(?) was a boss in DaS 2 I already got hyped that the armor would be in the game ;__;

Anyways, I just finished the game after about 80 hours. Loved every minute of it. Now - NG+. And then I'll probably put it away until it's out on PC..

nvm. Quick question. When do mages become fun? I feel super weak. I'm slow and I die too fast, and nothing really dies quickly. I'm constantly running out of ammo. The Lost Bastille is kicking my ass, and the Ruin Sentinels make me reconsider playing a mage. I really wanna respect and be a sword user again.

Can anyone thats played throuh a couple of times shed some light on spell damage? Right now im rolling pure sorcery and aome pyro. Im eyeing that pure staff i read about. Is the damage that much greater then if i go for the itme that does sorc hexes and miracles just out of covenience?

It gets better once you find some better scaling weapons. I played around with a mage for a bit and found that although it can be pretty weak in the beginning, staves with better scaling really pumped my damage up and made most of the boss fights fairly trivial. You could also try out pyromancy which is super overpowered for a really cheap price. I was able to 2-3 shot bosses with that.

Found a warlock mask. Now I can be like Capra demon!

My damage is pretty low. Got 30 int, and 25 faith. I do a couple hundred, but, it's slow. By the time I can cast the boss/enemy is already wailing on me. I really hope they get better soon.

i heard it breaks your gear if you stay under it too long

After 3 hours and 36 kills on the mad warrior i got his whole armor set. Farmed another solid hour up to 50 kills and he still wont drop his sword. When they say rare i guess they mean it. Ive got 3 pieces of item discovery equipment on and used 30 rusted coins. This guy is an asshole.

Where?

Btw, what's the best Katana? Is it the Berserker? Man I don't wanna try and get that.
Washing Pole is pretty popular, since that thing always hits from a ridiculous range.

I'm considering about stocking up on corrosive urns, just for facing that weapon. It's really frustrating to deal with when it is buffed up to high heavens :/ .

Are you using a dagger? I've managed to kill singular mobs with ease by simply backstabbing with my mage- character. Even without any points invested in dex, I've had it hit for up to 1400 damage via backstabs.

It's a bit ridiculous, to be quite frank.

Man, some of you Blue Sentinels need to come up with a backup plan once you disable my spells. Yes, good strategy to disrupt a evil cleric from casting. But, I always carry with my a lightning longsword. Twice I just struck them with my sword until they were dead. Kinda surprised one guy either had no HP overall or I vastly underestimated how strong my sword is against PVP. Did 6 strikes, and dead. :lol

All these wonderful invasions have really been awesome. Won most of them. Lost a few of them. Really interesting to be invaded nearly every 5 to 10 minutes now.

Goddamnit. Bone Wheels are nearly impossible to kill as a mage. I had 2 left and would have killed them, but, they both stunlocked me.

Stick to the walls. Even if you get hit, they will stop for a few seconds.

I've seen the same with just 8 faith it's pretty much one shotting most things with my 50 strength. It's a lot better than I thought it would be.

Hehe I'm two shotting PvP players at SL 150 with this build. Getting a hit in is tricky, but holy shit when I do get one in it's over.

Whoa I just beat the
Gargoyle bosses
by myself, I died several times in the process but finally figured out a good enough strategy
Flame Swathe & Lingering Flame proved very helpful
.

That felt good.

Get the magic mace if you haven't already, it's a nice and free backup weapon for a mage. Located close to the last Huntsman Copse bonfire.

Lol, my gf out of the blue wanted to play ds2. She chose sorcerer and, under my instructions, trotted over to FoFG. I got her to light the bonfire at Crestfallen Post(?), and then she got back stabbed by one of the undead mobs roaming around. Died. We laughed, and she respawned, only to die again...and again...and again cuz she kept trying to cast soul arrow in front of those mobs that are clearly swinging at her. Stun stun stun, dead. Half health now. Got frustrated so she handed the controller to me. I cleared the area and handed her the controller to let her climb up the ladder leading to the 3 undead mobs and the Heide knight. She locked on to one of the targets and kept backing up, with the camera facing forward the whole time, and somehow, some way, fell off a ledge. She yelled out "FUCK. AGHHHHHH WHAT THE HELL, I HAVE A HEADACHE. I'M DONE. HOW THE HELL DO YOU PLAY THIS?"

I said "welcome to dark souls hon!"

LOL She sounds better than me, at least.

Damage = Chaos Blade

PvP = Washing Pole (imo)

I havnt seen many people say much about the pole, other than it's reach? But yea, seems the Chaos Blade deals ridiculous damage. I'm gonna role with that one for my PVP build.

Thx guys. Still need to get the Shadow Mask. Then I can start upgrading my armor.

The A
ncient
D
ragon
really doesn't mess arounds with his
fire
attack. Could buff myself and get hit 3 times in NG+. Now it only takes 2 hits to die. And looks like 1 hit without buff. Need to be more careful now. heh

Oh, wow, just reached
Shrine of Amana
. The way the glowing blue flora are reflected in the water is gorgeous. It looks even better when you do an L1 zoom with a bow and get that subtle depth-of-field effect on the twinkling lights.

Instead of that
Crypt Blacksword
, they should have just given us the
Gravelord Sword
with the
Old Dead One Soul
, since we get the older weapons with the three other
DS1 Souls
.

Smh.
