I'll never understand how mages can be said to be OP. I do more dps/damage as basically any class. If being OP means dieing in 1-2 hits from anything and hardly doing any damage, then by all means we're OP.

God dammit. Just broke a chest in Black Gulch, it was in an alcove right before the boss. It had a lock on it so i thought it was a mimic. Anyone know what was in there?

Hm... she's not there for me. In fact, I don't know where she is now...

Did you talk to her in Black Gulch? There are two on the right side of the area (in different locations) that are easily missable if you didn't have a torch to see them. One of them leads to Lucatiel.

Yeah, I got all three locations, I'm going back and doing this after finishing the game, I used an Ascetic to get SD back and I fought 2 other bosses with her and him as my 3rd.

I was fighting the Heide Knight in the Forest of Giants, and I died just as I killed him. I saw the sword drop, but when I went back, it wasn't there. Is there anything I can do?

I don't care what anyone has to say about Joe or this video, the editing in the beginning was super hype:

Did you make sure you went through all her lines in each location?

If you die, you miss out on the items.

No. They all drop that sword on NG, though.

On your first kill? The second one I killed gave me a spear or something.

Try 450k :)

I've given up on NG+ for the meantime and have started a freshie. I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to be tackling it; the game really does not fuck around.

Opinions on the Drangleic Sword as an 'entire play-through weapon'?

Ditto, I'm gonna start a new character tomm for the Lucatiel and Bernhardt trophy. Also fucked up and didn't get the Map trophy in NG. NG+ is fun but a royal pain in the ass for those trophies. I managed to keep Luca alive thru the Sentry fight even with those two extra assholes but I can smell the Lost Sinner being a bigger pain with those Pyros. I really do not want to deal with the extra headache.

I'll probably do a straight up STR/FAI build for the second character. I wanna crush those bosses ASAP.

Can't believe Glass knight is kicking my ass. I'm doing 450 per hit and his move set isn't anything out of ordinary. Maybe it's a sign telling me to call it a day.

The bug on the sky of Drangleic castle is annoying the shit out of me. The first chance I got to see the castle I was like "wow that sky looks ass." Pretty much ruined that feeling when you see something spectacular in a game for the first time. And I wish they put more aurora borealis or stars on the sky. The level design of the castle so far is pretty straight forward. Didn't feel lost at all

/whine.

Why does
ancient dragon
drain souls when you fight him? Is there a lore reason for this?

Edit: I'm dumb it's the hex resonant soul just didn't notice it before.

Joe's videos are incredible. I wan't to see him body all the damn bosses.

On your first kill? The second one I killed gave me a spear or something.

I've got both, but I seem to get the sword more often.

Praise the sun, got the platinum over the weekend.

Did a full caster build for NG+ and NG++ and boy does it steam roll, 3 lots of Dark orb (72 charges) as my main spell and the bigger hexes and sorceries.

The most difficult enemies where the goat idiots in shaded woods who seem very resistant to most forms of spell.

Tell me about it. On my NG+ hex run, I just beelined past them.

Decided to respec my stats again. Brought down my ATT from 94 to 75. While I still get 10 slots I of course no longer have max spell uses. I could of course just use a ring or armor to advance that for now. But I'll have to get used to limited spells. With that I upped my End 20 points to #40. So that gives me an extra 20 points, 22 extra compared to before thanks to third dragon ring.

Then also reduced my Faith another 5 points down to 70 and I think my Int down to 40 or so. And used those extra stat points to increase my Str and Dex to 15 and 20. Giving me more options in weapons. Currently switched from using my lightning longsword +10 to the lightning varangian +10. So I'll do slightly more damage with that now.

Interesting enough, my health ended up increasing by like 40, so with rings I'm near 2300 now.

So while I'll have less spell usage and inflict less damage, I'll be able to survive easier which should help me in the end.

You must be over-leveled as hell.

These fucking hippo guys are driving me crazy. I'm pretty sure I'm reasonably close to the end of the game but this one big dude just keeps killing me. I wish I had some decent ranged damage. The
Priestess' in Shrine of Amana
made me want to snap my disc in half. I gotta say, the difficulty of areas since
lighting the primal bonfires
has increased significantly, or my build is failing me.

My life as a mage and my entire strategy was using Lightning Spear + upgrading my chime to +10.

Unfortunately you have like no stamina and no health options at all when your faith is 45; so the entire strategy is trying not to get hit and getting your lightning spear in. I think i had it up to 600 + damage by the end of the game.

On my list of things to do/get (NG+ run);

Get Heide Knight Chainmail
Free Ornifex, use
Witch Soul to get Chaos Blade, then infuse with Dark
Buy Dark Bolts (as much as possible)
Possibly reorganize stats for Hex/Dark Ninja PVP Build

SL 123, ~52hrs game time. Sorcerer. Loving this game. :)

40 INT
40 FTH
30 ATN

Pyro/Dark/Faith caster with a +10 Archdrake Staff and +5 Archdrake Chime.
Hexer's Hood with Mage outfit.

Sunbro currently. I want to pickup the Sunlight Spear at 30 and after that I'm going to Darkdiver.
Currently raising my VIT/END (will go to 20/15) a bit to prep myself for NG+.
I'm also thinking of raising my STR to 17 so I can equip a 100 phy. block shield. Red Rust Shield seems OK?

About to finish
Shrine of Amana
leaving only these areas to finish NG:
Undead Crypt
Throne of Want
Aldia's Keep
Dragon Aerie
Dragon Shrine

Thoughts on my current progress?

Also,

1. What's the overall best staff & chime?

2. If I'm not using my spells, I'm rocking a Fire Longsword +8. Served me OK in NG up until these last few levels where enemies are tough as fuck so I have to resort to casting.
Should I pursue a DEX build in NG+ for fun? If so, what's the best DEX weapon? I was an Uchigatana player in Dark Souls 1.

Any other tips & recommendations are welcome.

Cheers!

Well finished ng+ @ sl 247
All bosses dead except dark lurker. Fuck mandatory clearing the way to him. The phantoms are harder than the boss is, just because of the limited area to fight them.

Got every peice of gear I wanted except the Black Dragon Sword. Cleared the dragon shrine too many times, even with bonfire acetic uses to have it not drop.
3 black dragon hammers, 4 black dragon Shields, 1 black dragon great axe, around 9 dragon scales.

Final opinion:

•Great game
•Enjoyed casting much more this time around than Des,Das.
•Majula was a great hub
•More to do with ng+
•Lore was great. Had almost as much fun trying to figure it out and connect it as playing the game :)
•Fun covenants for every type of player

Negatives:
•Not very memorable NPCs
•Good amount of generic armor designs
•Forced into set armors due to new stats and horible scaling
•Button delays in the UI
•limited ways to block being invaded in online play.(this bothered me the most)
•Disappointing boss fights/cheap mechanics to make them hard(1 shot hits from bosses, really wish they didnt go down this road to make the game "harder". Its not, its just a cheap mechanic)
•Only a handfull of areas that "feel" like a DeS/DaS atmosphere game.
•motion capture for character movements felt weird mostly with iron keep enemies. Very odd running animation.
•Miss running into the dreaded Black Knights randomly like I did in DaS
•Horrible fucking weapon designs/stats outside of great amd ultra great weapons.

If anything im hard on the game because I like the series so much. it by no means is not a bad game, over 100+hours play time.
just there were some changes from the first games that I felt they didnt need to change because they worked fine. But its to be expected under a new director. Being able to be invaded whenever while online isbprobably the worst direction they went for me.

Man I thought that they balanced invading to prevent low level characters with high level gear from attacking newbs? The one and only time I've been invaded outside of Belfry Luna, and its on my first trip to Heide Fire Tower or whatever on my second character. The guy starts chasing after me dual wielding Dragons Teeth, and then he starts chucking bottles of something at me because apparently my Large Leather Shield and Short Sword were a little scary so he wanted to break them. It was still kinda fun, but ridiculous how outmatched I was in equipment.

Edit: oh also, was disappointing that I didn't get a blue guy summoned to help me. What good is this covenant then? It sounded cool in the description, get a bodyguard if you get invaded, but it didn't work.

I hate it how those stupid things in the Black Gulch that pop out of the black pits can one shot you. Also those giant white cyclops things grabbing and biting your head one shots me too. I liked it better when it was just mimic chests that would catch you off guard.

I wish the guy you can sell items to would hang around in Majula. Also wish there was a way of seeing in-depth stats in the Item Box screen, rather than having to do it in the Equip screen.

You can actually use fire arrows to burn the pits they reside in, and burn them inside.

You can also roll through the pits while you have a torch out and it'll set them alight. However, when wanting to sprint to the boss as quickly as possible it's still annoying getting caught by them.

Of course you're getting killed when you're impatient. Why not use the second bonfire though?

PS3? Grapevine says that hackers are running rampant on PS3 atm. Hopefully they get sorted.

Raising the vessel allows you to get it out of the way while fighting, so you don't accidentally break it with your sword. I think you can also break it over enemies' heads if it's raised. I don't remember a lever that closed a door, sorry!

Ah, so if you've never met him, he won't show up there. You need to
go and meet him for the first time in No-man's Wharf. He's in the upper story of a building with a bunch of dark stalker monsters. When you get close to the building, you'll hear him gulping down his drink and see him through a hole in the second-floor wall.
Once you meet him, he'll pop up at various points in the game — quite useful.

Thanks! I had read about how to get the Lucatiel trophy and wanted to save the areas where you can summon her for later. So I was planning to do the Wharf later. Maybe I should go there just far enough to meet Gavlan though, so I don't screw up his story.

I got invaded for the first time today, after 60 hours of playtime. Hahaha.

I've only done Forest of Fallen Giants, Heide's Tower of Flame, Huntman's Copse, Harvest Valley and Earthen Peak, but so far I've been invaded three times.
Didn't win any of them, but once the invader must have felt sorry for me, for he just gave me 20 ancient radiant lifegems and left

Welp, done with NG, on to NG+ and trophy mop up. Just need the Luca and Benhart + all miracles, pyro, hex, spells.

Faith build still breaks the game tbh,
Darklurker
was trivially easy with 50 faith and the dragon chime. Three Sunlight Spears to the face is all it took.

Here is the objective truth: main story is 54 hours, a completionist run is 142 hours. (source)
wow. Its going to take me a few more weekends to get through it. :D

Tonight I downed 2 bosses.
Demon of Song
was SUPER difficult for me.
Velstadt, the Royal Aegis
on the other hand I killed first try. The difficulty swings of this game are crazy.

I should have not made the pact to play this game only on stream. Now I must wait until Friday.
