Yeah, the leak was mentioning six characters under consideration for E3. Three of them wound up being shown. Little Mac, Mii and Pac-Man were not. It never claimed to be the entire roster. And the fact the leaker had Villager (previously ruled out by Sakurai) and Wii Fit Trainer (guessed by literally no one else on the Internet) makes it more than coincidence.

Yeah, the way it was first presented was someone saying something like "Some poster a while back guessed a bunch of characters and he got some of them right, and Pac-Man was one of the ones he guessed for E3, so clearly Pac-Man is in it!"

Which is a lot less convincing than "Well, a forum member got tipped about the E3 reveal lineup and posted it to Neogaf a few days early, and Pac-Man is the only character who hasn't since been confirmed."

Now that you got me thinking about it, Wonder Red has great potential as a Smash character. I'd love to see him in the game.

Okay, I'm getting pretty excited about this Nintendo Direct!

I hate to create false hope haha. I would LOVE for the Wonderful Ones to be in. Aside from the fact that they are a new IP that could really use the recognition Smash gives (look at FE in the West), they actually have movesets that are easily created.

The problem is I just feel the game is too small to be included. So I'm not hopeful, but oh man if it happens I will cry with happiness

The thing is, Pac-Man does a ton of shit after that original arcade game, it's just all stuff no one knows or cares about because Namco woefully mismanaged that character.

Oh I think is more because those games were pretty terrible.

I did play some crazy remake game of the original, I think it was on PSN, but I can't remember the name. Best PacMan ever, the PAcMan with no personality whatsoever.

Pac-Man is coming.

I'm not saying he should not be in, or that he is not coming, I'm saying he would/will be a really poor fighting character .

He'll either be overpowered:

His unique feature could be the ability to chomp through the air -- picture Yoshi's Egg Roll, but traveling mid-air, and able to pivot 90 degrees to chase opponents horizontally and vertically.

or simply be nothing like Pac Man.

I actually want him in, but as I said, like an assist trophy, or a stage, or something else.
