He was the best, and now he doesn't have to go through all the destructive gimmicks, like forced switching out and "stamina" (power decreased heavily if left out for 2 minutes).

One of the screens has Kirby wearing a Charizard hat. I think transformations was just referring to characters/ movesets, hence zss and sheik being split into seperate characters.

Presumed lack of Squirtle is saddening; I never really liked playing as him but it was always nice to have my favorite Pokemon as playable.
Palutena pretty much confirmed, too, and that new salromano leak gains some credence here I think.

Direct was awesome.
Honestly the only thing that worries me is preference given to the 3DS version. Smash is a console game first and foremost, I think it's a bit worrying that the 3DS version gets release priority and an awesome exclusive City Trial-esque mode.
Hopefully the extra development time for the Wii U version means they're doing something incredible with it though.

Grenenja looks really fun and the changes to Zero Suit Samus's move set look great, I hope we get more details on the changes to Charizard soon as well as how Mega Evolution works.
