Wow. That gyrm shield or whatever was really all I needed for Smelter. Took thirty tries but finally got that bastard.

Now I'm in the Doors of Pharros and I have no idea what to do. Every lockstone I've used seems to have been a waste.

The lockstones in the Doors of Pharros are mostly traps or enemies, it's for the Rat King covenant. You can essentially make people run a gauntlet, it's great fun.

Greatsword PvP in a nutshell:

XD

To not have that happen, one hand it to get the good slash (aka the old Zweihander horizontal) then pivot to your back spinning left or right when you R1 (made easier in this since you don't have to turn off lock on).

The end result is swinging in an arc that covers all sides but your right (or left depending on how you turn). This usually means people rolling right into your giant sword trying to dodge. The old pivot slash trick still gets them as long as lag doesn't screw you.

The two hand R2 on the other hand? Yeah this will be the result.

Who ever came up with the "exploding mummy" enemy at FROM is a terrible person. Worst design in an enemy ever. Why the fuck does it explode? Why doesn't it die when it does?

Such lazy ass, stupid design. Zero creativity.

Huh? They might not make any logical sense, but they make you play completely differently from just about every other enemy. Really interesting, and very dangerous enemy. It's all the better that they make them look rather harmless.

Wow, summoned in some absolutely great players last night for some NG+
Smelter Demon
and
Lost Sinner
goodness. Took them both down first attempt, but things got super hairy with the
LS and those annoying Pyromancers
they throw into the mix. Super exhilarating...this game keeps on delivering.

they're just boring zombie enemies that cause almost instant death. It's pretty lazy. And there's too much of them.

I got the artbook and the art depicting Pate was very interesting.

Spoilers:
Basically, the early design for what is now Pate looks identical to Patches. The character was bald and wearing some sort of leather armor, but still held Pate's spear and shield. It lead me to believe that Pate is indeed this game's Patches. Their names are even similar!

I always thought that was pretty obvious. O.O

I guess I gotta go to NG+? I've had my summon out for the past hour at the Rotten and nobody's summoned me. I've noticed I've seen nobody summoning or putting summon signs anymore. Is the game really that dead? No more sunbroing it with everyone )= I'm not even being invaded as a bell bro. I'm so lonely here.

I think your Soul Memory might be beyond that area. Tried one of the later bosses?

The
Memories of a Giant (especially Jeigh)
sections are the only part of the game I think are poorly designed. All of the other areas I can see being...intentional in some way or another, but those sections remind me of Dragon Age 2. Terrible.

Otherwise, I dunno. I keep wanting to say it might be my favorite Souls, but then I remember how much I love the others. Guess I'll just have to replay Demon's first!

-shrugs-, I dunno. I've been to every boss area now and I've yet to see any summon signs/be summoned. I've got cross region play enabled.

I know you already completed a playthrough, but:

1) Are you in the Company of Champions covenant?

2) Do you have the name engraved ring equipped?

3) Are you human?

4) Are you over the appropriate level/soul memory range for the bosses you want help with?

Any combinations of these will prevent you from summoning others/be summoned. If none of these, I don't know man. Theres never a time where I don't see summon signs.

Ugh...I'm in
Shrine of Amana
. I really don't like some of the section design choices in this game. In some areas it's not even a "challenge" as much as it is just a nuisance.

1. No

2. No

3. yes

4. I dunno. 450k SM 89SL

Almost wish you could hold and charge the ultra greatswords, would make punishing quick rollers and parry people.
Like the charged attack in monster hunter that can sever tails with one hit with the right stage and a decent enough weapon?

I noticed this last night on my second character as well.

My main on NG+ though, has no trouble at all getting co-op. I think with soul vessels, people are simply holding on to their toons instead of rolling new ones.

I'm scratching my head here since you say your other toon can summon/be summoned. Only other thing I can think about is: did you disconnect/turn off your system when you're being invaded alot? If you do it too many times, NPC and coop gets removed. Have to use a bone of order, but you only get one per character.

I think not losing progress on covenant ranks when you switch also helps encourage people to stick with a single character. That along with all the changes made in NG+ and the more lenient restrictions on summoning seem to be getting people to stick with their character in NG+ so that they have can have access to everything they would want.

I was noticing an issue, myself, with getting summoned in NG. However, I get summoned pretty much instantly on NG++ for just about anything. So, It's not so much that the game is dead, rather people are just hanging out in NG+ now.

Was my exact thought. Especially since you can already control where the sword will land mid swing by changing the camera.
That would be a great thing to have really but you'd be a sitting duck so you'd need some awfully good armor. Unless it was a couple of seconds to get of a full powered charge.

Dragonrider Set
kicks ass. Worth beating Smelter Demon a few extra times to get it. Rocking the armor with the
Throne Defender
mask/gloves & Mastodon leggings. Look like a buffed-up Old King Doran.

PvP is so frustrating especially since every once in a while I get a relatively lag-free match and see how good it could be. My experience so far is pretty much swing, hit (weapon connects, hit sound effect), 0.2 - 0.5 secs later the enemy rolls and no damage dealt. How am I supposed to know when to swing when the enemy can start rolling after I've hit him on my screen? Same bull with getting hit myself. I see the swing coming miles away, am clearly out of range and still get hit. Compensating for something like that is not the kind of meta I'm looking for.

That boss is piss easy anyway. I'm more concerned about the fire damage on the walk there.

Quoating myself, because I'm quite pissed off at the Lost Giant. Must 've almost died ten times now. Even while I'm standing between his feet he just one shots me... and I can hardly see his sword. i just hear the swoosh and then I'm dead. it's mostly camera angles that create this difficulty though... or lack thereof.

Edit: seriously. Just died again. Tried rolling. Fuck.

Stick to his feet that stays on the ground and roll away from the stomp. I just go between them. The sword swipes hurt but can be avoided or rolled through. What is your ADAPT?

It's probably worth simply going naked to maintain your Stamina.

I have 22 APT. His swords swipes hurt? They one shot. He steps away and swipes his sword, making rolling difficult. I don't know which way to roll.

I-frames are strange in this game, or maybe weapon hitboxes are. Rolling in PvP feels really easy even fatrolling with 4 adp.

That should be good enough. I had 20 Adapt. I think he usually swipes behind him or to his side. It is pretty hard to see with the camera. But I found simply rolling through his legs when I heard the "swish" sound avoided it or it nicked me and I didn't die.

I really want to defeat all the bosses before jumping to NG+ (i only have to kill the
Ancient Dragon
to achieve this). The problem is, i can't beat that motherfucker :(

Ughhhhhh. I fought the
Pursuer
duo in Drangleic and died right after I killed the one that drops the
Ring of Blades +2
. Which bonfire do I burn an ascetic at to bring em back?

He's actually fairly simple.
Use the Gyrm Shield, focus on his front leg. Stand in front of him, far enough away where instead of swiping, he spits his fire straight ahead. Quickly run up to his front leg (I always go to his left leg) and hit him twice, three times depending on the speed of your weapon. Immediately start running away because he should start to fly straight up to do his AOE fire. Use your shield to block the fire damage, you'll get staggered but the fire should be stopping by the time you do. Repeat.

Can anyone helpm me with the Ruin Sentinels? Everyone I coop with is a total moron who die too fast. It's absolutely baffling how stupid people are with the RUin Trio. EVERY SINGLE laast person is icapable of healing or doing any damage to the boss. last 2 guys didn't even bother helping me, they just stood outside the gate. I can't get past them and nobody seems to want to help.

I used a bonfire ascetic, so I guess I'm on NG+ difficulty. His hits hit twice as hard, it seems.

Finally killed that-motherfucker-
Vendrick
with 4 souls. The most difficult boss so far for me as melee. Haven't done AD yet so that might be more difficult after all.

I'm close to just giving up. It's impossible to beat them, it's impossible because everyone who puts their sign down is a complete and total moron. It's just so frustrating. I can't beat them solo, I can't even get to the boss without dieing. Those knights are too difficult to kill, they just gang rush me.

Am I right in thinking that soul memory kinda breaks the whole apostle of the blue covenant?

I mean with the auto summon of blue sentinels or have I just not been lucky enough to be summoned yet at all?

The problem is.. i have a DEX build and don't have enough strength to use the Gyrm shield :( It doesn't matter what kind of protection i use, it's always one hit kill for me.
