Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Gotta say, I kinda hate the fact that Pac-Man is likely to show up in this entry.
He's just so damn ugly, especially with his modern humanoid look. Ugh.
At least you'll be able to pair him up with Greninja for Team Pacman.

Unless you hate Greninja too in which case things are even worse.

Map of Smash Run.

It's like the SSE's Great Maze, but with enemies from various series. This seems like a really good replacement for SSE.

SSE had enemies from various series; lots of them. The reason SSE sucked was because the environments were generic and dull. They're still generic here, but not as dull-looking, so it's sort of an improvement.

Just Mario from what I remember.

Certainly didn't have Ki-Hunters or Kremlings.

Considering Rosalina was left out the first time around, I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two not on the list.

Who else is there to add though? Greninja pretty much has Takamaru covered.

Takamaru would be completely different from Greninja though. They just have shutikens, but even then, they'd work differently.

We could have:

Mike Jones
Sukapon
Laughing Dog
Mach Rider
Prince of Sablé

I guess it would actually be weirder if all the Pokemon did have Mega Evolution as their final smash, very few characters share Final Smashes, right? Ness and Lucas are the only two that leap to mind.

If you don't count the transformations (Sheik/Zelda, All three Pokemon of the trainer), you're still left with Fox, Falco and Wolf with the Landmaster, and both Links with the Triforce Slash.

There were Mother 3, Pokemon and Metroid bosses, but, as far as standard enemies go, only Mario and ROB got representatives in SSE.

Mega Evolutions by generation/region:
Kanto (gen 1)-12 (Venusaur, Blastroise, Charizard x2, Alakazam, Gengar, Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Mewtwo x2)
Johto (gen 2)-5 (Ampharos, Scizor, Heracross, Houndoom, Tyranitar)
Hoenn (gen 3)-8* (Blaziken, Gardevoir, Mawile, Aggron, Medicham, Manectric, Banette, Absol)
Sinnoh (gen 4)-3 (Garchomp, Lucario, Abomasnow)

*presumably 10 when Mega Latios/Latias are released

WHAT.

Alakazam and Genghar have mega evolutions?? They're two of my favorites. Where do I get their evolution stones??? TELL ME NOW.

Haha. Kidding. But not really.

Tell me...

I wish people would stop complaining about Pac-Man.. Dude's one of the most iconic gaming characters, why the heck would you not want him in Smash?

Mario vs Sonic vs Mega Man vs Pac-Man -- How dare people deny this?! ;b

Gengar's stone is a freebie from an NPC in Laverre City. I think it's one of the Hex Maniacs.

Alakazam's is found in Reflecting Cave after you get the post-game add-on that lets you find mega stones during a certain hour of the day.

Eh. We can complain regardless of his status. :p

He looks terrible in 3D. Hopefully Sakurai chooses the better looking design.

I think the issue some people have with Pac-Man is it's difficult to conceptualize the character as both a viable participant in Smash Bros. while also having a design and moveset that is true to its roots and represents the Pac-Man incarnation which resonates with fans of the series.

I wish they would diversify the lineup more. There is way too much Pokémon representation. Get some other series in there. There should be like 2 Pokémon.

I would like to see Mr. G&W with a 3D model lol

These people need to understand that several Smash characters had no movesets at all before they were in Smash. For example, Fox and Captain Falcon, the two classic characters that people bring up when this is mentioned.

At this point, I think there are more than enough moves they could use to represent Pac-Man's extensive history. Fox and CF had what, a game or two before they appeared in Smash? Pac-Man would be easy at this point.

This. You're both right.

PacdashMan never had "moves" like Mario, Sonic, or Mega Man, or heck, even Game and Watch. They all had their variety and move set practically done in their home games. Pac Man, in the only one of his games that matters (suck it!), is just a moving circle that eats guys and that's a tough conceptual hurdle to get over.

I definitely believe he could be made into a viable character, especially pulling from his later games. I've never played any of them, but I imagine there's a little more variety there.

Now, the real question is - do we get a Ms. Pac Man alt skin?

The thing with thinking that is a custom move is that wouldn't make sense given when it shows up. It shows up during the Assist Trophy montage. He did show some new moves before he talked about them and some new items, but I think custom movesets wouldn't be something he would do like that given it is very misleading.

I'm gonna guess the end of the fire has no knockback and makes another character move while the fire closer to the mouth has knockback. And Marth's counter has been changed a bit.
DaBoss, I hope you compile your discoveries into a thread or something. I can't search for all of your posts that I missed.

Err what? Outside of Mario, there was basically no other series with common enemies. Smash Run looks to be a huge improvement.

If the definition of lots is maybe 3 series, then sure, it is a lot.
I will die if he has his voice from the show. Luckily even Sonic barely talks.
YOU'RE TOO SLOW!

I don't mind Sonic's voice at all.

Dude, Pokemon is their biggest series and sells like hotcakes.

And there are, what, 720 Pokemon now? Having 6 out of 720 playable characters in Smash isn't that crazy, especially with so much diversity in their appearance and play styles.

I guess by the same argument we should have about a dozen FE reps though, huh?
