Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Adam playable are you kidding me? What would his final smash be denying everyone permission to use their moves? Lets stop for a moment to consider his status of the Metroid series. In Other M he died, and is now a computer AI program in Samus' ship. His only possible moveset would be stealing more attacks from Samus, it's too bad that Other M had no original items whatsoever. I would rather have two versions of Samus as the representatives for Metroid rather than Adam. Our only real hope is that if we ever get a new game they give us an enemy that would be a perfect Samus rival.
Sakurai took Samus's heels and turned them into rocket boots. I'm pretty sure he could come up with something for Adam. Adam's a genius soldier.

Also, we've had dead characters in Smash before, like Ganondorf.

Did I misunderstand your post? I thought you were implying that Sakurai would rather have less important protagonists playable than more important protagonists, hence the Adam>Ridley choice. This is why I thought mentioning Pokey and Andross was weird, as neither would fit in well. Pokey's works as a boss but never as his own character.
Ridley is a recurring antagonist, not a protagonist.

Pokey is less evil than lots of characters, like Ganondorf and even boss characters like Ridley. He's just a by-product of poor parenting. He also has a moveset, he's a boss character in Brawl.

I agree about Diddy being way more important, Adam is important as well. Without Adam, there's no Samus. He taught her to be who she is, and inspires her to always do the right thing no matter what.

Andross makes perfect sense as a boss character, but is too large and irregularly shaped to be playable, despite his role as major antagonist.

Perfect analogies.

Adam would be added for diversity. He's the token ..teacher figure that we're missing from the Smash series.

So it seems like a lot of people think Ike is gone. But he's not even close to being a clone of Marth like Roy was.

Popular opinion suspects Chrom to replace Ike. Do people think Chrom will have Ike's old move set (or close to it)? Personally, I'm a bit biased. Ike was one of the top three fighters in Brawl and I REALLY want him back. I don't think they will just throw out Ike (or his moveset) so easily. Opinions?

I mean, he's also the only friend Samus ever had, and actually saves the universe in her stead in Other M. If that doesn't give him points, I don't know what does.

Including Adam seems like it would be an enormous kick in the teeth to Metroid fans rather than fanservice.

Yea, I haven't played Other M, but just by reading the descriptions, it sounds like he turns Samus into a a garbage character just by existing. Keep him away from Smash, no one should condone that.

Can someone explain this "wall run" thing? It seems like Toon Link 'bounced' off of the Yellow Devil.

For a couple of frames it looks like he may be running down the Yellow Devil, parkour-style

Yea, it seems Toon Link is bouncing off and the legs seem to be at that place. It's similar to how Bowser's Down Air into Yellow Devil caused it go left of the Yellow Devil instead of going straight through.

No, that's not what's going on at all. Andre (I think that's his name) isn't looking close enough at the footage -- he's pointing out something that doesn't exist or rather, is mistaking it for something it's clearly not lol.

Toon Link is in the air doing two Back Airs and as he is starting the second back air, he is using his air mobility to move to the right. It creates the illusion he is "wall running" along Yellow Devil's body pieces as they are beginning to form but he's clearly not as he transitions to his fall animations and it's clearly his back air animation. Doing two back airs in a single full hop/jump isn't new, either.

*refrains from making a potentially offensive joke*

Yeah, I just think Adam is boring though. If he gets in, I wouldn't care, but now-- personally I'd rather not see him in Smash.

I didn't say it was a wall run.

I'm saying that the Yellow Devil has some sort of invisible barrier/boundary thing in the middle that pushes Toon Link. Bowser moves left when attacking the Yellow Devil. I did word my post poorly by using the word bounce lol.

The horizontal distance covered doesn't seem like it would be possible if it was merely just Toon Link moving to the right. He does get hit as well during the fall, so it pushed him further right.

If there's going to be any non-Ridley Metroid character it should be Anthony. The plasma cannon has potential
Also Smash has no black humans
and Anthony is one of the game's few redeeming features.

Malkovich is the goddamned devil.

So can we discuss costumes? Yeah I know it's come up before, but not since the Direct (with how fast the thread moves I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong though)

I mean we now have two confirmed unique costumes for characters. Plus, I think with Sheik and Zelda being separate, it raises the chances that they'll have their own SS based costumes (the only real argument before was being how weird Zelda turning into Impa would be and now, that's not a problem).

I'm just going to make a conservative prediction that some, but not all characters will have a special stand out costume. Since some characters would be REALLY reaching for material.

My current guesses for would be costumes:

ZSS: I want to say given the similar visual cues, she'll have a Kojima-approved Bayonetta costume, otherwise I'll just say the short-haired cadet from Other M.

Samus: Classic Super Metroid suit ala Melee and Brawl

Mega Man: Rock/Street Clothes

Zelda: Skyward Sword Zelda

Sheik: Skyward Sword Impa

Marth: Classic Famicom art with skirt

Link: Either Fierce Deity or street clothes Link (Ordon from TP or Skyloft from SS)

Fox: Classic look ala Melee

Mario: Doctor Mario

Yoshi: Plessie color scheme complete with scarf

Villager: Female Villager

Pit: Dark Pit complete with alternate voice and quotes. Replace Pit's old black color scheme with something dark purple as a nod to Medusa and/or Hades.

Pretty much all I can think of off hand. I don't see him making ones for the Pokémon characters, Kirby and Dedede are drawing blanks as well (at least something significantly different visually)

Uh, you do remember there was a Metroid character who was the villain of three games and has tons of potential for an interesting moveset, right?

You're thinking too small for Samus.

There was a bit of discussion about Link's new up-air earlier, but did anyone check if it has more range than the old one? The animation looks a bit weird but it looks like he can hit a lot farther by holding the sword like that.

Also, GameXplain's analysis pointed out that he has the backflip he uses in all 3D Zelda games. That was quite cool. It seems that they are trying to make the characters even more faithful to source material this time.

Eh. If we have to use a minor one game character, I'd prefer Rundas. He has a lot of potential for a cool move set.

Dark Samus is in all three prime games, and is representative of Phazon, the primary source of trouble for the trilogy. Rundas is just some dude.

Yeah I was thinking Fusion Suit would be the better more visually significant choice. Now I feel dumb. As for others, it would be awesome for sure (LOVE the Light Suit), but I can see them just using color swaps for everything else

I would like to see Dry Bowser as an alt!

Aww man, totally forgot about that. Yeah, top contender for sure.

I would like to see costumes reference games, characters aren't from.

I'd like to see this too, / especially for characters that wouldn't have much to choose from. I mean as I said above, ZSS's new design just screams of being a Bayonetta nod, but one of Sakurai's early comments regarding character customization (something about losing the character's identity) makes it very unlikely

I recalled that he actually got a new move which is dropkick. I recalled that he done that on the ground during first trailer, but now he did that move in the air.

Teether Recovery might be still in the game since Zero Suit Samus still have her side B

Did anyone pointed out that Bowser got a new throw stance?

Also Bowser have new jab @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7xUWnQu2Grs#t=301

For people that are concerned that teether tech might be removed form the game. I want to noted that Samu's Grab is still in the game @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7xUWnQu2Grs#t=328

I'm still looking out for new things

Yeah, I really enjoy playing as him.

His aerial down attack got somewhat buff, so I can't tell if it's buff or not. If you used aerial down attack, apparently you will drop down pretty fast.

I wouldn't say its a bayonod considering the thing you think bayonetta invented has existed for decades before then, so attack heels aren't bayo specific.

But what i would like is a Samus with metal gear clothes.
Or Zelda or Fire emblem character dressed like each other or some one from a namco sega or capcom rpg.

I would also like to see Lucario/ Tekken thing, I dunno how it works. But maybe he wears kazuya's gloves and when he goes mega he turns purple.
