While I envy your 3DS owning friends, your situation is definitely not the norm. Couch multiplayer will be a big selling point for the Wii U version.

I've honestly never seen a ton of patriotism in my life. I mean, I see more than I probably would in other countries but most people I know are pretty critical of the US as a country. That might be because I live in California though.

Random thought: So yeah, connectivity between the 3DS and Wii U is still happening. Assuming that the game still has unlockable characters, do you think that the connectivity comes in the form in which characters unlocked in one version automatically get unlocked in the other once connected?

This is something I really hope happens. It makes a TON of sense because of the two versions releasing months apart.

How deep do they go with the whole linking of Nintendo IDs? Perhaps they could do something like unlocking a character in the 3DS version means that you start with that character unlocked in the Wii U version like you said. There might also be something like unlockable trophies.

If Snake isn't back, I definitely expect to see something similar to his Codec Calls featuring the Uprising characters.

I also think a lock for an Uprising assist trophy is Magnus.

It's not really America they love, its the idea of America, and the idea that our founding fathers created the perfect Constitution that should be obeyed without question, and the idea that America is the only free country in the world. I mean, I don't remember seeing Australian flags everywhere when I lived and vacationed in Sydney and Melbourne (although it has been awhile).


Anyway, I'm kind off disappointed at that Game Explain Newcomer Discussion video. They didn't go into much detail about the probability of certain characters getting in (apart from Pac-Man), and they didn't seem to address the Gemetsu leak at all.

This feels like it would be odd if the games didn't have the feature built in. However, I'd try to avoid it since unlocking characters is one of the best parts of smash for me =)

Many enemies appear in that mode. I don't imagine they'll all, if any, be ATs. Maybe some of them, though.

For Mewtwo, their opinions on his chances are based on the incorrect assumption that he was replaced by Lucario. As we all know, he was intended to be in Brawl, but due to the last minute work that Sonic needed to be in the game, he was cut for time constraints. Knowing this, there is NO WAY he isn't in Smash 4. Sakurai will not cut a character he intended to have in Brawl.

As for ROB, I need everyone to state the single example so far of a completely unique character being cut. That's right, there is only one, Mewtwo, due to the aformentioned time constraints surrounding Sonic's inclusion. All other characters who were cut between Melee and Brawl were clones. ROB will be in the game, guaranteed.

Two of my most hated assumptions regarding character speculation
 
Hades body stage. Literally just playing on his body which sprawls into the background culminating in his giant head from which the glorious commentary shall arise. Also, tons of missiles and shit spraying from his body

I think Medusa has a lot more potential as a playable character - a stage or something dedicated to Hades, to let him chat up a storm, would suit him better. Medusa's pretty much pure action. Plus, seniority, first female villain, can work as a semi-clone of Palutena, yadda yadda yadda.
 
I think it's possible for unique characters to get cut but I don't see why ROB would be one of them. It seems like a rather arbitrary decision based on "He's weird". He's no less relevant now than he was at Brawl's release.

ROB is pretty awesome, but I'd actually like to see Smash cut more characters from time to time and bring them back later. It would make the veterans a lot more exciting

This is going to sound arbitrary but I get the feeling they won't do ever do that, though I guess we'll have to see since Brawl was the first game where characters were cut.

I could only agree with this if Smash got updates like SF. Veterans being exciting for a short time up to reveal is trumped by being playable for the 6 years we wait for the next game.

If Super Super Smash Bros. was on the horizon then I wouldn't feel terribly bad about not having say, Ganondorf or Ike at release.
 
I usually find their discussion videos to be weak. And really, you'll probably hear about the stuff they say in discussion videos in forums, so it really isn't much new.

Their comparison videos and analysis videos are really great.

But yea, this ROB cutting stuff is silly.
 
ROB was wonderfully fun to play as. Sucks that only one of his moves is from the actual toy, but he's a great character to keep for this installment.

Well in fairness, there were a grand total of two games before Brawl and no reason why the original 12 couldn't make it back for Melee.

I still suspect there will be cuts, but the final roster for Smash 4 will be bigger than Brawl's
 
I wonder if the unlockable newcomers will get awesome trailers like the starter newcomers. It would be a shame if pretty Palutena doesn't get one! O:
 
I didn't just dislike playing R.O.B., but also found him annoying and unfun to play against. I encourage him to be cut.

On a side note, was watching that GameExplain video and noticed yet again how glorious that Pilot Wings stage looks. So good. Also, the people who think King K. Rool are gonna get in are really reaching.

These are my thoughts on it as well.

Newcomers are such a big deal in the first place precisely because of how long it takes between releases. If vets were fair game too it would be awful.
