Fighting Games Weekly | April 21-27 | Easter EG Hunting

Oh here we go, Nerdjosh trying to be the good guy. Fuck that copycat.

/goes back to work on UMVC3 GAF Patch Notes V2

I must have missed the NerdJosh hate then because I didn't see it this weekend. Granted that I wasn't here for more than half it, but why would people on here hate on him - just because of him using ChrisG's team like he has for so long now?

Speaking of making OTs, someone give me something more funnier then this:

SOULCALIBUR Lost Swords |OT| Don't Call It A Grave. It's The Future You Chose.
Lost Swords |OT| The soul still bur- where'd it go?!
Lost Swords |OT| Namco mission statement
Lost Swords |OT| Not a Nas x GZA album

Nice Interview Frantic. Don't feel bad about that simple mode firebrand loss. UMVC3 is downright terrible to play online when someone has a bad connection. My friend moved to another state and now our connection is terrible. That feeling of having ABC combos and Hadoken motions drop due to lag. :(

it's $15 on amazon atm
Hell, For $15 I'm buying another copy to send to a friend so he can get back into SF4.
Plus we can gameshare the USF4 digital upgrade when it comes out

is 360 ae ranked still alive? thinking about double dipping for dat early ultra upgrade.

it's $15 on amazon atm

All three platforms it's still active- PC the least active but you can usually get games (and the connections are much better in general, I refuse to play it on PSN due to lag)

Who's the Hugo? Do we have any real reason to think this has any impact on the game? Surely you're not all so insane as to think one uploaded game means anything?

It's been known Hugo pretty much can't deal with that move. Unless someone comes up with something, it's the T.Hawk/Blanka of Ultra.

FGW OPs used to be really useful for finding out when all the streams are on during the week, but I pretty much know when they all are now so I don't look anymore. The directory is probably still useful to newcomers though.

Who does the hypest shit when they go into x-factor? I pop one whenever Viper rolls up her sleeves like its on now. And of course Vergil needing more power for me.
Nova does the Super Saiyan power up pose.

Hawkeye does come at me pose.

Wesker's "let's fucking go" pose.

I think at least half the people in the conversation were defending nerdjosh as the originator of morridoom.

2) If so, what sort of resources are the best at teaching what they are intended to teach, and are approachable for new players?

Maj's footsies guide for sure.

That's insane.

Its for the better, even though we got some truly epic moments in the past, like the thirty-fucking-nine post MGS4 OT, which is just incredible.

Great wallpapers here.

I still think that the Grand Theft Auto V was pretty amazing.

Pretty sure there were options for this Hugo. He splashed the limb once, pretty sure he could keep hitting the limb, focus dash forward, walk and block, etc.

Overall it looks like a super shitty match for Hugo. Guess that's what Decapre's for lol.

Yea this Hugo wasn't really trying I think (Or he was just really bad). I will quote my comment from eventhubs:

Don't judge 2-hitting mk as "too strong" or "broken" based on a match between the best Dhalsim in the world vs a day 3 Hugo who is one of the few characters (If not the only) who is not able to crouch it and who wasn't patient about trying to get in (Focused/armored over and over to try to get in when it obviously didn't work).

This is probably going to be a hard match up for Hugo regardless, but we can't really know what will happen because this Hugo wasn't even trying all of Hugo's options (Didn't even see dd+mk 1 time). Also, 1 meatsquasher would mean Dhalsim in the corner, which is probably death against a Hugo (Who knows how to pressure with him ofc, which this day 3 Hugo did not).

If people come to think this move is too strong, that's fine, but don't use this match to judge and call for nerfs. I have seen a few matches with USF4 Sim, and the st.mk did NOT look too good at all. YHC Mochi also wrote on twitter that he thinks it is a great move, but that you can't spam it because it is easy to counterpoke.

NerdJosh was maining the Vergil variant long before ChrisG was. I remember ChrisG experimented with a few variants back when he mained the Akuma version, including the Vergil variant, but he didn't stick with any of them for very long.

Focus dash forward was failing cuz Sim's st.mk is 2Hits now.....hints the spam by the end of the vid.

I think it is NOT as terrible at it looks, but it might be bad, but we don't know if hugo can stuff s.MK out with either s.LP or s.MP at all, or use EX Lariat on reaction to the s.MK(Because EX Lariat has 2 hits of armor for what I remember) and also we don't know if Hugo can clap the s.MK at all

Remember when Akuma-Gief match-up was 8-2 because of jump back fireball and teleport?

I am already scared when Hugo slaps that limp, red focus and wall slams us.

Alright time to set the record straight before people start taking this NerdJosh thing out of proportion.

First of all I think Nerdjosh is a great player and is an innovator in his own way. He's not a "fraud" or a bad player at all. He is not afraid to experiment with different teams.

That said he is definitely a bandwagoner. Now we can sit here and argue what that means in the context of this game but he definitely changes his team whenever something cheaper is discovered. I don't see this as a bad thing but I call it like I see it.

Now as to who played what first.... this is really an irrelevant topic point because it doesn't matter who did what first.. it matters who does it the best. Justin Wong admitted to taking the idea of Wolverine + Akuma from some random online Japanese video. But no one remembers that guy who was using Wolverine + Akuma first, what matters is that Justin is the BEST with this duo in the universe.

Now I will entertain this discussion about who got to Morrigan first or what not. Not going to talk about Vanilla MVC3 because that is even more irrelevant. Beginning of UMVC3 players like Jeo and Omniscythe were one of the few Morrigan players. ChrisG used Morrigan in a troll team until one day he discovered playing Morrigan/Dante/Wright that adding Missiles in there would be super cheap. And thus MorriDoom was born as we know it.

Around that time Omniscythe was also playing various Morrigan teams (some with Wesker). As far as I can tell Omniscythe was the first person to use Morrigan/Vergil/Doom. At this time ChrisG was still juggling with his 3rd, ranging from Akuma, Firebrand, Hawkeye etc. After that Nerdjosh took Omniscythe's team and put Vergil on anchor, then came up with some tricks/combo for that team. After that ChrisG also started using that team and he added his own tricks to the team too.

As proof of this you can watch Curleh Mustache 3 and realize that Omniscythe was in fact using Morrigan/Vergil/Doom when ChrisG was using Morrigan/Doom/Akuma. Around this time Nerdjosh was not using a Morrigan team (he had a bunch of teams like Dante/Frank/Wesker).

TL:DR version:

ChrisG, Omniscythe, Jeo and a few others among first to use Morrigan in UMVC3.

ChrisG first to use Morrigan + Doom.

Omniscythe first to use Morrigan/Vergil/Doom.

Nerdjosh first to use Morrigan/Doom/Vergil (put Vergil on anchor which is an alteration from how Omniscythe used it).

Who played what first doesn't matter because it only matters who's the best.

So much hyperbole over one video of a random Hugo getting blown up by a great sim. Give people time in the lab before even pretending the match will always go that way.

You don't need to justify what you said because that's how you felt dude.

Josh will fully admit he looks for the cheapest thing to do in a game and win with it, as anyone who wants to win should. However regardless of your opinion on who's "best" you should always give credit where credit is due when it comes to those who created the common strategies for those characters. For Ryu and Akuma, Final Showdown discovered a lot of their combos first off. Josh discovered a lot of stuff for that Morridoom/Vergil team initially, which was later perfected by Chris.

There's nothing wrong with having an opinion but at least acknowledge that Josh is a great player who does exceptionally well in your initial opinions. That way it won't come to bite you in the ass where you have to make clarification posts a day after the fact.

Just some advice from a guy who's dun fucked up a few times in public and been called on it.

I wasn't defending my position, I was setting the record straight for people who didn't know about the history and what not. There was some confusion about who did what first.

I never said that Nerdjosh was a bad/fraud player like some other folks, you can check my posts again. I probably called him a tier whore and I would still call him that... but I didn't mean that in a negative way. Many top players are tier whores, I can respect that. I guess bandwagoner is a better word but whatever.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

Word choices, etc.

Just choose your words more carefully next time :)

SOULCALIBUR Lost Swords |OT| Don't Call It A Grave. It's The Future You Chose.

Needs something in the title to show it's a single player only F2P game LOL.

Also, kind of OT, but to anyone in North America... This might be the last week any of you guys have to see The Raid 2 in cinema. It's very rare a martial arts movie of such brilliance comes around.

If it's the one I thinking of, pretty sure that's from Fangamer. Called DQ Value Menu

Meatbun needs to start making shirts again, I still wear my Vega vs. Balrog shirt all the time. Their Smash TV shirt was godlike too but mine eventually ripped and I had to throw it out.
