Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Yeah, it has been debunked several times over, a lot of the text in the top is simply gibberish among many other issues.

Some of these other issues being that the art for the "new" characters is from Brawl (Wario's stripped directly from the Dojo), Ganon's is from a TP render, Falco's art is incredibly blurry in comparison to others, and of course the fact the Japanese name for the Ice Climbers is "Ice Climber", no S.

I don't want to bring unnecessary hate this guy's channel because I like his videos but this video http://youtu.be/htWiWo5bZuc made me want to ask you guys on his opinion on the for glory mode and items in competitive play.
I think he's really misinformed about a lot of things related to smash, but that's ok. Looking at his twitter though he does come of as a real asshole whose shutting his ears to criticism by making blanket statements about the competitive community.

Anyways for glory is a good first step but far from perfect. I already went on a tirade about how items as they currently are bad in a competitive environment, but could be good for competition if implemented correctly.

You can't take Fraser seriously, it's just what his show is all about--his unfiltered biased opinions. Plus, if you follow his facebook, he's coming around because people are presenting good counter arguments versus blind rage.

Hard to find a picture of the crown on mii-maker:

vs the one during the direct, which is clearly only for find mii.

Other ideas for mii icons:

The walking mii on check mii out

Smiley face with circle around it (for mingle!)

I think I wouldn't have said 'Ew' to the smiley if it had the circle around it. That makes it a bit more distinctly mii-like.
I really think they'll just go with something like this if they go with anything:

It's pretty much the Mii's logo already.

We've had some talks before (awhile back) about the different ways they could implement items. One idea, iirc, was to have items periodically spawn at different spawn points around the stage kind of like Halo, Gears, etc.

another avatar change?
and yes spawns like in Halo could work, except those are completely predetermined (think MLG rulesets)

If Chief ever makes it in Smash, I stand by my assertion that he'll use the Energy Sword for his smash attacks. Canonically, it had unlimited ammo in multiplayer back when it debuted as a playable weapon back in Halo 2, so he wouldn't have to worry about having to bludgeon crap to death with the hilt.

Same character but without the hood though. lol. I can't control my borderlands hype v_v . Heath knows what's up though! :p

And yea they would have to be predetermined. Like those games, it could add a layer of strategy to stage control and timing. The problem with smash 4 is that with so many items, other than the completely broken ones how would you even choose which items to use? lol

I dont think they need to be predetermined, they just can't break game balance.

Can't he crush people's skulls with his bare hands?

He basically said on twitter that competitive smash bros players have no life. As well as tried discrediting them for having small pots. I think its really assholish to belittle a community for not having a large amount of monetary backing.

who is this guy we're talking about again?

He's a let's player/video game commentator with a niche fanbase. He has been harsh, insensitive, and outright offensive towards many video game fan bases, though the full disclaimer is that he's simply citing his opinion and he doesn't care if people take offense to it. It just so happens he was acting like his usual asshole self towards the Smash community (which is very defensive for various reasons).

For someone like me who has been following them for about two years (maybe a little less), I get it. It's kind of a running gag almost for him to shit on things, and it's funny (in context of his show as a whole) when you don't take it to heart.

I remember when I made a innocent comment on a Smash video about how I prefer items or something like that and as a result a whole bunch of Smash fans downvoted my YouTube videos, called me a troll and insulted Wii Music.

If they are that sensitive no wonder people are going to keep flipping their switches.

yea I never heard of the guy either.

I'm not against the random factor but I think it work best in a predetermined cycle. Either way it would be interesting.

If it's predetermined it's not random :P

you've made up enough stories by now, where's the links

It's annoying me how many people have been fooled by that "leak" of the select screen. It's so blatantly fake and I keep seeing people getting fooled. They don't love theyselves. If anything we'll probably see the 3DS one sooner anyway, but the reused assets and choppy images should've thrown people off.

I've also been playing the Rhythm Heaven games again lately and it's gonna really upset me if the "Chorus Men" rumour is fake at this point. It's been covered by us here and also the general press/fans so much now I almost want it to be true, just like in Palutena's case.

I really want to see Marshal in the game, since he basically is the "face" of the series and is near identical and much cuter than the Chorus Men as well, while representing the franchise as a whole. I'd love it if he incorporates rhythm into his fighting style working similarly to DK's FS and not being as effective if you have the funkiness level of Ellen Degeneres, it'd be so unique, and his moveset could incorporate various elements of the minigames from the series also.

I think both sides are sensitive since a lot of comments on twitter just shit on competitive players for using items. Its weird to see people arguing about there being a right way to play a game.

This is true.

Smash is most fun to me 4-play local multiplayer only with items off and final destination only--I'm not even joking. But I get quite a bit of shit for enjoying my game that way.

I want Marshal to be in and for his reveal trailer to be a classic Rhythm Heaven remix, featuring games from each of the games but with the characters replaced with various Smash Bros. characters...

Hole in One, but with Mario golfing and Diddy and DK throwing balls.
Catch of the Day, but with Link fishing.
Sneaky Spirits, but with Luigi catching ghosts.
Karate Man, but with Little Mac.

Then it finally ends with Glee Club but with a trio of Pikachus singing, and then once the song is over the camera pans to reveal that the conductor was Marshal, and "Marshal Feels the Rhythm!"

Probably a dumb question but will the game be downloadable for the 3DS? I don't like carrying around cartridges.

So If I take a picture of myself in an elevator with Sakurai after having just broken wind does that make me a credible source

Chief is Captain Falcon firmed?

E3 2014, Halo 5 is shown to the world for the first time. We see a destroyed city scape full of aliens and robots. A green boot steps into frame. The camera pans around and looks up to reveal it is the Master Chief. He looks down at the camera and takes off his helmet to reveal another helmet, Captain Falcon's hlemet!
"SHOW ME YA MOVES!" He yells as he runs at a Covenant Grunt and punches its face in with a burning fist. "COME AWN!"

As with every 3DS game released in the past year or 2 you can expect it to be available day 1 digitally.

That...would be an amazing reveal trailer. That would actually make me hyped.

Personally I don't think I have, but in this instance it's true. It was five years ago and I did remove most of the rude comments, because people should be nice online, but you can see a remnant in this one with the negative comment by a jiangjunizzy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6m2_CwwFfE

Those three dislikes basically killed the small chance these video ever had of appearing on someone's suggestion list. ;__;

should've just linked the E3 video with the crazy dude instead

Ive never played Rhythm Heaven nor do I understand how the game works. Id be curious what ideas people would have for Marshal or the chorus kids as Smash characters.

It's WarioWare, but sound and rhythm based. They could pull literally anything from the games and toss it into Smash because there's no continuity or story, except with the wandering Samurai (if you can even call that continuity).

Can't he crush people's skulls with his bare hands?

And his elbows!

That's what tilts and throws are for! Besides, if he's in the Smash 'verse, the entire point of combat is ring-outing opponents. It'd make more sense for him to save his strength for chucking people into next week rather than breaking bones.

Chief would be a monster in Smash, and despite being an M-rated his games are probably more kid-friendly than Snake's, the Flood notwithstanding.

Odd that they thought the chest was a Zelda item when it clearly has the Smash logo on it. They usually have a good eye for noticing details.

They put up an annotation pointing it out. Their discussions are usually less formal than their analysis, so they probably don't "research" them as much

I was thinking it was Find Mii related when I first saw it, but it has some slight design changes that could easily be interpreted as a Smash treasure chest.

I gave a few ideas some days back but here's the general gist. Since rhythm based moves based on the music is most likely out of the question due to logistics my prediction would be to have moves with two stages, one to initiate the move and the other time based to finish it one i.e. press B 1...2... press B again. So one move could be to summon the buckets, balls and bulbs from the Karate Man game with B and then you press B again to hit them again across the stage.

Since Marshal is an updated version of the Night Walker his up B would just be his balloon bunch. Unlike Villager however these won't last forever and will pop automatically one at a time like they do at the beginning of Night Walk.

Of course they can use his Final Smash to actually play some Rhythm Tengoku series music and have the attacks rhythm based much like DK's FS so a more true to the game rhythm based attack is present in Smash.

Has anyone mentioned that the challenger approaching banners have been removed from the official site?

Ice Climbers incoming.
