Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Mega Man!

Leaf Shield Nerf (this was pointed out by georly a long time ago, but it didn't seem like people discussed it much then)
Old (Developer Direct):

New (Smash Direct):

It now has more start-up lag which makes sense. Makes it more balanced.

Air Shooter (Mega Man's Up Air)

I found this to be interesting cause it is a first for Smash in a sense. Previous Smash games didn't have characters have projectiles/long-range air attacks.

It seems when it initially comes out of the mega buster it will cause some knockback and then it becomes a multi-hit move with no flinching. It seems like the multi-hit part of the move has the ability to move characters up higher, but it may be exaggerated since Kirby is jumping as well.

Could be an interesting move for off-screen KOs, but outside of that, I imagine it won't be that useful considering people would be able to easily DI out of it.

The Greatest Final Smash in the Game

"It's Mega Man's famouse co-stars." The best.

Though I wonder how it works. Is it like Captain Falcon's where he gets people on to a race track and then runs people over or if it just has a small cinematic and shows the lasers coming out on stage.

I like the new animation for Mega Man on the Leaf Shield.

I wonder what the properties are when attacking Mega Man while he's got the leaf shield up. It could be really powerful if he constantly has one active at all times.

No offense, but that Pac-man render is ugly to me.

also..hey, I haven't posted here in a long while. Same 'ol Smash discussion floating about?

Guys let's talk about the stages, what is your favorite so far? I'm digging the Pilotwings, I love how it goes through the history of Pilotwings in a single stage (well, except for the N64 title).

I'm not sure about Palutena's stage so far, it looks too big, the characters are so tiny there that we will barely follow the action there, I hope it is the only huge stage in the game.

So far I think we haven't seen much originality in stages, they all recall some ideas from previous stages (except for the Mario Galaxy stage) but at least they don't look Brawl levels of bad.

I decided to lurking SmashBoard's Ridley thread and see people's opinions about Direct. I found one of poster's works very interesting, but take it with grain of salts. It could meant nothing.

Poor Pikachu

I can't wait to get my hands on Mega Man. Him and Mario are my all time favorite gaming characters.

I'd be okay with Ridley being that size.

Well its more like a super rough vectory cartoon thingy then a render. Hahah

But just my personal visualization of old school PAC. He's a tough pill to swallow.

Ah ok gotcha.

Now I'm REALLY curious how they'll do Pac-man in this game. His old school design isn't good for inspiring a newer look without looking creepy.

I imagine it'll be something like Mario. A moveset consisting of punching and kicking with special moves relating to his franchise.

Pac Man will have a special move like Sonic's from Sonic Battle where he throws a power pellet (ring in Sonic Battle) and then can tap the button again to fly at the object. Calling it now

Pilotwings looks great so far. The pokemon elite 4 stage has potential if it goes through all the rooms. And if Skyloft is anything like Isle Delfino, I'll probably like it a lot.

Yeah, I could see that honestly. They'll probably pull from some moves from Pac-Man World too (I would hope).

The characters are only tiny if there's one on either side of the stage, or if an important item spawns. Otherwise it'll be zoomed in on the action.

If you play it 1v1 with no items it should be a fun stage.

I called today's pic "Lame" earlier, which sounds cold, but that was more with the fact we've seen this before and it's not even like it's something found exclusively in the press kits - it was in the Direct. That being said I'm so happy Mega Man's other incarnations are making an appearance as well and this Final Smash and its execution are amazing.

Nintendo are going the extra mile with his appearance in this game and really showing Capcom how fanservice and valuing its characters is done. Mega Man is classic, and his popularity may have waned in more recent years, but any "gamer" would be able to identify him immediately, and seeing him being utilised and so much love being given to him here makes me happy for MM fans.

I'm still shocked he didn't have a spot reserved for him in MvC, though they did get the chance to mix the variety up and represent other franchises instead of it just being "X-Men, Street Fighter & Friends" again.

Here's hoping next week we get some new information. A new stage wouldn't go amiss, or a character we can expect on the starting roster like Wario or Ice Climbers.

Palutena's stage will probably be fun if people stick to one area and treat it as a bunch of mini stages. Of course someone's always going to go to the opposite edge and zoom everything out though.

The stage would make a lot more sense if it scrolled a-la Rainbow Cruise. If it really is just the massive block I could see it becoming nigh unplayable if you've got a jerk running around the whole thing.

It's kind of why I hope Snake returns so I can sit on the other end of the god damn planet and fire long range missiles on people

I think it's due to the lack of news. It's making people "debate" things that wouldn't be mentioned if we had something to actually talk about.

We're a bunch of smash junkies, we thought we were good with what we had and then our dealer gave us the good stuff and lots of it. We're now in massive withdrawal and need more of the goods

Yes, it looks impressive and its a great rendition for the franchise. Skyloft is fine, I like it but it could have had a bit more work, looks ripped directly from Skyward Sword but it looks fine anyway. I love how it works too, Delfino Plaza was my favorite Brawl stage and this one seems to work in the same way.

There you have what I think

In online mode it just won't work well, you'll have your rival scaping from you the whole time. It needed more hazards to make it harder to go from one zone to another

Is some of this sarcasm, or are you really this unpleasant?
Both.

I'll stop being a jack-off.
You could say he is Toxic.

MWA HA HA.
Ugh
So Ridley has the most broken recovery ever since he's always flying

New Meta Knight confirmed
That actually sounds like a balanced and interesting character, considering Ridley's Bowser hitboxes. Melee Puff already basically had infinite recovery.
