Apparently Battalion Wars was semi popular in Japan. A surprise since the War series apparently isn't really that big in Japan.

The Advance Wars series or the longrunning Nintendo Wars series that Japan has had in almost all of their consoles?
How did it do in the West? It's one of my favorite Wii games actually. It's so unique.
Unfortunately it's just one of those things I remember reading. Should probably note that Japan didn't get Advance Wars until much later.
Well the GCN version must have done reasonably well since it got a sequel.
That makes sense.
Oh yes, ORNE. Sakurai bringing the Kid Icarus HYPE. Probably a Smash Run enemy, since he wouldn't make sense in the Reset Bomb Forest. (Only the Forces of Nature appear there -- not Underworld minions like Orne)

Oh man, this has to happen. Make it like the codec calls in Shadow Moses Island or Lylat Cruise. Maybe if Pit mashes his taunt button on Palutena's Temple, he can start up a conversation with Hades, etc.
I'm half expecting the Reset Bomb Forest to.
I wouldn't be surprised if Viridi has a line or two when she drops the bomb.

If it's a stage hazard, I'll go ahead and guess it's for a second Kid Icarus stage, since Orne would be wildly out of place in the Reset Bomb Forest. Maybe my suggestion for a Medusa's Castle level -- a 3DS counterpoint to Palutena's Temple on WiiU -- will come true!

Well, you could tech it.
So maybe this one just makes you vanish and lose a stock so that it's untechable.
I looked up Orne's idol description in Kid Icarus Uprising:
