Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Yessssssss, excellent news.

Can't wait for Contests, Secret Bases, glorious Honen.

I hope the trainer customization returns so I can dress up Ruby in HATS HATS HATS.

Mixed feelings about this. I didn't hate the generation but it had too much damn water from what I remember. I need to buy a damn 3DS. I want this game but I hope it is better than what I remember. I feel like I may have made it "worse" in my head.

Mario did evolve past the initial formula many times, but I will not insist with what I said even tho I stand by it. I just hope that whomever is satisfied with the rate of change in Pokemon does not complain about other games that do the same.

No, the basic "jump on enemies and break blocks" is still there, but added stuff to make it different. You know, like what Pokemon does. However, Pokemon's changes are not something visible to people who never even touched the games post gen 1. This is not something like how CoD would add weapons or maps. No, it's far deeper than that. There's a reason the competitive metagame are separated by generations.

Wow this came out of nowhere. Is this winter going to be about Nintndo remakes? (if MM 3D happens)

I hope we get more mega evolutions

Really hoping Rayquaza plays his part in these unlike in the originals--bar Emerald--where he wasn't even part of the plot. Also, hoping they bring back Emerald's Battle Frontier. The best post-game content to date in Pokemon.

I don't mind if there is no mega kyogre/groudon/rayquaza and this is just a redesign like bw kyurems overdrive mode but we better get mega sceptile, swanpert and some other megas

I want to note that "Dramatic new world" is written in blue. Which confirms Hoenn has been flooded and we play in boats.

Unless you understand the non visible changes in Pokemon you will still keep claiming it's the same stuff over and over again, it's the same for Fighting Games, people who don't understand the mechanics and intricacies will keep saying updates are a cash grab and not a new title.

But Avdol is the stand user.

I am aware of this. It is irrelevant though, as I'd still rather have Blaziken named Avdol than Magician's Red now that I actually think about it. So my mistake is my heart's truth. Just need to remember lol, also I think Speed Boost Blaziken is named Magician's Red bahahahahahha, or I never raised the torchic, can't remember lol.

God damn it, I want to be excited for this, I really do, since it's my favorite Pokemon region, but IVs have fucked up my enjoyment of the game. Simply because of the existence of IVs, my enjoyment of the Pokemon games has dwindled.

I always have it in the back of my mind that I may have a significant loss in one stat of a pokemon that I have otherwise EV trained perfectly with a good nature. I cannot go through the process of breeding for hours on end to perfect IVs. They better change that shit. Make it unique, but in a different and less infuriating way.

But I'll probably still get this, despite putting down Pokemon Y after beating it once.

Pokemon trainer designs have sure changed since I was a kid.

That is why I said I don't want to discuss this here anymore, for some reason you assume I never played Pokemon past gen 1 when I pretty much have played most including X & Y. I absolutely have no interest in competitive Pokemon as it is right now and I don't think that disqualifies my opinion. To think that what we got so far is the ceiling of what a Pokemon game could have being is just sad. Nintendo plays this franchise safer than any other.

This is the last thing I expected. Remakes coming before the third Gen VI game, and only a year after X & Y!? Wow!

That is some fucking awesome boxart. Groudon and Kyogre look amazing; Mega Evolutions I presume. Can we get them for Sceptile and Swampert now, pls?

If I had to pick a least favorite Pokémon game, it would be Ruby & Sapphire, but I'm still excited if only because of all the things they could add to make it feel brand new.

Oh, hey. A mainline Pokemon game on 3DS that'll actually have decent post game content. (Assuming these remakes take after Emerald in the same way HG/SS took after Crystal) Imagine that.

Should be nice to go back to the land of trumpets, in any case.

The press release states "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire... The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world."

Am I the only that thinks this sounds more like sequels than remakes? I hope that's what they mean.

So it hasn't changed because you ignore the changes? I guess university professors should refer to Pokemon updates when teaching their students about Schrödinger.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are such stupid names. Oh well, either way, this is pretty exciting to hear about! 3rd gen was the only set of games I never got to play. Will be nice to finally get to experience them in some form.

Can't wait for the inevitable Mega Swampert. This is going to be awesome, I didn't like the third gen that much back in the day but the content was gigantic.

Nah, they released FireRed and LeafGreen before Emerald.

Worked better that way, since a lot of the improvements made in those remakes were ported to Emerald.

Totally support this move. Lets people recover from any XY fatigue they may have had, give Z the fair shake it deserves.

This is pretty cool. I've never played this generation as I started with Diamond, so I will definitely get this. The question is which version do I get.
